Ventenac-en-Minervois Villa Rental Photos and Description

Set in private grounds in a small, picturesque village 2 minutes walk from the Canal du Midi (a UNESCO world heritage site) in the Languedoc region with restaurants, a wine chateau and small shop 2 minutes walk, Villa Voila is the ideal getaway. Secluded, lush garden with small swimming pool (7.8 mtrs. x 3.8 mtrs.max) and covered barbecue area.

30 mins. drive to Narbonne and Mediterranean beaches, 45 mins. to the medieval town of Carcassonne

Easy access from airports in Carcassonne, Perpignan, Montpellier, Toulouse, Girona and Barcelona. Part of the Cathar region (Da Vinci Code, Labyrinth etc).

Sleeps 4 + 2. Luxury bathroom with separate shower enclosure and bath, extra shower/basin/WC for use from the garden/BBQ area.

Luxury kitchen with dishwasher, American fridge/freezer and built-in appliances. Satellite TV with DVD and CD player. Private grounds with electric entrance gates and secure parking.

Brief Booking Conditions: 25 percent non refundable deposit required at the time of booking. Balance of payment due no later than 8 weeks prior to arrival. Booking conditions apply. Damage deposit of £200 is required at time of payment of the balance of rental monies due. This deposit is refundable less any amount required for damages, breakages or additional cleaning costs or charges. Lower rates available for bookings of 3 weeks or more please enquire. Linen, bath and kitchen towels provided. Normal cleaning is included at the end of the stay.

The villa is heated for winter use and logs for the fire are available (extra charges apply for heating and logs Nov - April) via meter readings/logs used. On arrival, you will be greeted by our local English caretaker who will familiarise you with the property, the amenities in the area and be your contact for any queries you may have during your stay.

Other inclusions: The large basement level houses an additional wc/shower/basin/utility sink for use from the garden and outside barbecue/dining area. There is also a full size table tennis table (please replace broken/lost balls/bats) and other games.

The Sky box is fitted with a free-to-air card which receives approx 100 channels including BBC, ITV etc. Please bring your own Sky card for sports/movie channels etc.

To keep the villa cool, all windows and French doors are fitted with external shutters and the bathroom & kitchen are fitted with an automatic ventilation system. Windows are fitted with retractable fly screens. Bedrooms have portable fan units for very hot weather. The pool has lighting and the main garden path has automatic footlighting. The garden has an automatic watering system and the pool has the latest switchable alarm system to meet current safety regulations.

Nearby Attractions: Ventenac is a small picturesque village of about 300 inhabitants on the Cana-du-Midi. Canal side shop, post office, wine Chateau , Canal-du-Midi and 2 restaurants all within a 5 minute walk. Two other larger villages with bank, ATM more shops restaurants and other facilities are within a few minutes by car.

Carcassonne - Medievil City 45 mins. by car, Narbonne - old Roman city with canals and Mediterranean beaches 25 mins. by car, Cathar castles and other ancient sites - all within an hour or two, Minervois wine route - on the doorstep, Wind surfing - either on the Lac de Jourras (30 mins. drive) or the Med, Barcelona can be visited in the day as can the Pyranees. We particularly recommend a trip to Collioure a very picturesque town and ancient port an hours drive on the Spannish border where the Pyranees meet the Med.

La Voila - something for everyone!

We have had a wonderful, relaxing time at La Voila. We were very late arriving at the villa but still received a warm welcome from Jason and Lorna who were very friendly and helpful. The villa has everything you could possibly need and is spotlessly clean. It has the most comfy beds we have ever slept on whilst on holiday. The villa is very private with restaurants, wine chateaux, grocery cabin and the canal du midi within a two minute walk - best of both worlds.

There is loads of information at the villa to point you in the right direction for markets, sightseeing, beaches etc, all of which are only a short drive away. We were lucky to visit at 'music festival' time' so really enjoyed sampling local music - great atmosphere! Also took advantage of local cycle hire 'mellow velo' - excellent service! There is also a good selection of books and games to keep you occupied and the table tennis gave an opportunity to cool down in the shade when temperatures soared.

La Voila is an ideal place to stay, it is close to many beautiful beaches, amazing chateauxs and medieval fortresses, busy towns, beautiful countryside, as well as the canal du midi - something for everyone!

We would highly recommend a stay at La Voila and hope to return in the not too distant future. Thanks Nigel.

ps the canal was perfect for the boys to run along - plenty of shade!

Fantastic villa in peaceful surroundings

This is a beautiful villa in a lovely village. Really nice property with lots of space, great BBQ area and swimming pool. Quiet village with a couple of good restaurants and a fantastic wine tasting experience in the village. Easy to find location and great for day trips.

Perfect relaxing holiday in a stunning location

Cozy Villa

The villa was close to it's description. It was comfortable and clean.

Car parking for two medium sized cars was a little tight.

Quiet location which was easy to get to a number of interesting places, and not too far from basic amenities.

Two weeks at La Voila

David and I had a relaxing holiday at La Voila. The villa itself was clean and tidy and contained everything we required. The villa is situated in a great area for exploring the area and the local food and wine. It was a shame that the villa was not as private as we would have liked - some of the trees in the garden needed to be replaced. However I would recommend the property to other travellers.

Edwards vacation

Lovely villa in a beautiful part of France. The villa has everything you could ask for and with a great pool. A lovely walk down to the village for fresh bread and croissants and of course the local rose wine. Great restaurants with lovely food. A visit around the local wine chateau is a must. We will definitely be returning. Brilliant holiday in a super villa.

La Voila is situated in the small village of Ventenac-en-Minervois which is easily accessed from a range of international airports; Toulouse (90 mins.), Carcassonne (45 mins.), Montpellier (90 mins.), Perpignan (60 mins.), Gerona (2 hrs.) and Barcelona (3 hrs). With Airport car hire, it couldn't be simpler! Ryanair & others offer discount fares to all these airports and we particularly recommend the trip from Girona serviced by most airlines at competitive prices from all points in the UK. New routes Liverpool to Carcassonne, BMIBaby Manchester to Perpignan, Ryanair Doncaster & Leeds to Girona.

By car, Ventenac-en-Minervois is located 20 minutes drive from the A9 auto route at Narbonne. From the west (Toulouse, Carcassonne etc), use the A61 auto route. Full details and directions will accompany your booking confirmation.

Other Activities: sightseeing in the historic Cathar region, canal boat hire/trips, bike hire

Ski: Skiing is just about possible for the odd day in the season, but the the nearest slopes at Les Angles are a 3 hour drive.

The Villa, built in the Mediterranean style, with terracotta roof tiles, terracotta tiled floors, oak beams and shuttered windows, has a large and airy living/dining area with a minstrels' gallery. The open-plan living area & kitchen, double bedrooms and bathroom are all conveniently located on one level with easy access. The lower level (accessed from the barbecue area) houses washer together with an additional WC, shower and washbasin for use from the garden. The house is situated in a quiet cul-de-sac a short walk to the post office, 2 restaurants, wine Chateau and a canal side shop. The garden is completely private and secure with Mediterranean flora of acacias, figs, fruit trees, hibiscus, and palm trees. There's a sun room and sheltered patio adjacent to the small swimming pool (7.8 m x 3.8m) and outside there is plenty of furniture for sunbathing or staying cool in the shade. The landscaped garden leads to a lower level with built-in barbecue with al fresco covered dining area
