Hi Nigel,

The house was great as always and very relaxing.

We really chilled out and enjoyed pottering around locally. Having now been there 4 or 5 times, it's become like home from home.

Best regards,
Jun 2014

La Voila - something for everyone!

  • 5 of 5

We have had a wonderful, relaxing time at La Voila. We were very late arriving at the villa but still received a warm welcome from Jason and Lorna who were very friendly and helpful. The villa has everything you could possibly need and is spotlessly clean. It has the most comfy beds we have ever slept on whilst on holiday. The villa is very private with restaurants, wine chateaux, grocery cabin and the canal du midi within a two minute walk - best of both worlds.

There is loads of information at the villa to point you in the right direction for markets, sightseeing, beaches etc, all of which are only a short drive away. We were lucky to visit at 'music festival' time' so really enjoyed sampling local music - great atmosphere! Also took advantage of local cycle hire 'mellow velo' - excellent service! There is also a good selection of books and games to keep you occupied and the table tennis gave an opportunity to cool down in the shade when temperatures soared.

La Voila is an ideal place to stay, it is close to many beautiful beaches, amazing chateauxs and medieval fortresses, busy towns, beautiful countryside, as well as the canal du midi - something for everyone!

We would highly recommend a stay at La Voila and hope to return in the not too distant future. Thanks Nigel.

ps the canal was perfect for the boys to run along - plenty of shade!

Excellent villa in a great area

  • 5 of 5

With two young children, this villa was perfect for our needs. Inside, it was predominantly on one level (with additional mezzanine space), with a spacious living space. The kitchen is a good size and excellently stocked with everything we needed. The bedrooms are both of a good size and the bathroom spacious and with bath and shower enclosure.

Lorna and Jason had done a great job preparing the villa and were really helpful and accommodating.

Outside the garden is very attractive and private with plenty of dining or lounging space. The pool was perfect for our five year old, as well as for adults. The villa is in a lovely village with two restaurants. With a baby in tow we did not get to eat out but did have excellent takeaway pizzas from La Coustelou. There is also a small cabin for provisions, and supermarkets within a ten minute drive. The wine from the chateau was excellent! The area, close to the Canal du Midi, is also excellent for walking, cycling or running. There are also plenty of day trip opportunities and we recommend Carcassonne, Narbonne and the beaches, all of which were within easy travelling distance.

All in all, we had a fabulous week and will not hesitate to go back to La Voila!

Super stay at a perfect location

  • 4 of 5

We loved being in Ventenac-en-Minervois. Having the little cabin shop and two restaurants on our doorstep was priceless. The canal is beautiful and we arrived the day before a local festival and were delighted by amazing fireworks over the water (and were confused and amused the following day by a 'party truck' circling the village!?). Villa La Voila is very comfortable and had everything we needed - great beds! The pool is a little on the small side and accessing the BBQ area is tricky with food, etc. The house has great potential for expansion of downstairs kitchen/diner one day!

La Voila villa in July August 2016

  • 3 of 5

A wonderful family holiday in Ventenac en Minervois staying in La Voila. The villa is a great base for a family of four as we are and we do recommend it. It is well equipped, spacious, clean and set on an ample plot (with a table tennis table we loved). We thought the villa was value for money on the whole, we shopped around and sure you can stay in higher end villas but for higher end prices - so we weren't disappointed. The help we had from Nikki, Laura and Jason was excellent, they made us feel very welcome and comfortable and were naturally very helpful and friendly -thanks.

For Nigel and Sue I've made a quick list of things to consider which would only improve the stay for others:

1. No air con - there are fans in the villa which helped, but during the hot months of July/August it would have really helped at night - despite following guidance to cool the villa it was difficult to sleep in.

2. The sun shade to the front of the property needs repair/replacement - its difficult to wind out and back in (its broken), so we didn't use as we would have liked to.

3. The sofa's in the lounge are beyond tired, these could really do with being replaced now, it would just add that home from home feeling.

4. We'd recommend a slight reconfiguration of the kitchen, removing the low adjoining wall/shelf allowing for a kitchen table space where we could have all got around easily, as it stands the kitchen table is just a work surface which is a shame.

5. We definitely recommend having an option to permanently disable the pool alarm during a stay, giving guests a clear option to do this at their own risk (its great if you have small children who can't swim but ours can etc) as it was a source of stress really, it went off on its own at 1.30am - its loud!!! and often during the day, luckily we there to easily reset it but it was annoying having to keep disabling it every time you fancy a dip!!. Jason did disable it when he came into service the pool which was great.

6. The garden sprinkler system seemed to be inactive and the plants suffering.. although we did water in the evening a little - the screen of firs between the villa and the neighbours could do with a rethink - they (firs) aren't taking there for some reason so it felt a bit exposed - but not a major issue.

The above might sound a bit negative - but we really did enjoy our stay at La Voila - I've focused on the snagging list which isn't major to resolve.

Many thanks,

Nick & Clare.

Owner's Response: Glad you enjoyed your stay at La Voila and I'll surely look into your observations to see if we can make improvements/alterations though we haven't had any similar requests. Regarding the pool alarm, it's a trade off between safety and convenience but I realise when it's very windy there's a risk the alarm will be set. Anyway, I thank you for your comments which I do value as I want guests to have the best possible holiday. Kind regards Nigel
