|Minimum Stay||3 - 7 nights|
The house probably dates back to the 17th century. In earlier times, it used to be the workshop of a cooper. In 2007, we bought the house, renovated parts of it, and have modernized it further over time. We have decorated this jewel, paying attention to details to keep them as authentic as possible, always with a reference to Hunawihr, which is among the most beautiful villages in France. Be inspired by the charm and historic ambience of your holiday home with its impressive timber-framed inside and the all the modern comforts. You will find a holiday paradise on a space of 150 square metres –enough space for families with children or 8 adults. It is important to us that you could feel good and be excited to stay here, and we hope to count you among our regular guests soon. In this sense, we look forward to meeting you!
In the heart of Alsace: stay in the most beautiful part of Alsace: just between Riquewihr and Ribeauvillé, within reach of the High King's Castle and in an authentic wine village, which is one of the most beautiful villages in France. In Hunawihr, there is also an animal park with a breeding centre for storks, otters, and it offers a small idyllic scenery. This is ideal for families with children. Attractions such as Colmar, Séléstat, Obernai, tours Vosges, the Rhine and Kaiserstuhl and the Black Forest are on the other side of the Rhine and can be reached within a short time.
Hunawihr is a very calm and picturesque wine village with no through traffic, and therefore, it is ideal for romantic people looking for tranquillity, far away from the tourist bustle on the Wine Route.
We absolutely loved this property. It was located in a wonderful village, within walking distance of Riquewihr and Ribeauville and only short car drives from other places of interest. Hunawihr itself was a quiter location which we appreciated and it had a handful of good restaurants and a local bakery/store for small shopping items and fresh croissants.
The house itself was larger than we expected and was really well furnished, and renovated and we loved that it had a garden too. Frank was really helpful and a lovely host, very accommodating given we were very late to arrive.
We would certainly recommend this property and the location.
We spent a lovely week in Hunawihr at Frank's house. Hunawihr is a charming village between two "touristy" villages, Riquewihr and Ribeauville. However Hunawihr is a charming working village with two very pleasant restaurants in the village and a nice little village shop. We have rented houses for many years and this house was amongst the best. It is very well equipped and Frank is a charming man. We had a slight problem in that the previous renters had broken the washing machine and Frank had not had time to get it repaired. However he kindly offered to do any washing at his own house. That is excellent customer service.
Hunawihr is a perfect spot for a holiday in Alsace: close to everything, and yet in a quiet enough to get away from it all. And Frank's property was perfect for our family's week-long stay. The pictures represent the home perfectly; it's a nice mix of modern and traditional, with everything you'd need to be comfortable. Our family of six thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Frank was very helpful from beginning to end, and there is plenty to see and do in Hunawihr and around. There are several wineries (the whole town is surrounded by rolling vineyards), a fortified church, walking paths and cycling routes. It is also an ideal location from which to base any other sightseeing in the region -- day trips to Colmar, Strasbourg, etc, were easily planned.
All in all we would highly recommend a trip to Hunawihr, and a stay here!
It is difficult to chose a place for our annual holiday with my elderly parents but the warm welcome we received from Frank put my mind at ease immediately. The house is beautifully renovated with very comfortable beds and everything we needed to relax. The only issue was the stairs for my elderly father but for most people it really wouldn't be an issue.
Perfectly situated for visiting the beautiful villages of Alsace it only took us 30 minutes to reach Strasbourg for a great day out. The stork and otter sanctuary in Hunawhir is an absolute must and simply wandering around this enchanting village made a lovely evening stroll to try and work off dinner!
There are 3 good restaurants in the village and plenty more in the nearby village or Reqwuihr.
All in all I would thoroughly recommend Alsace and Bite Tonnelier as a perfect place to stay.
This is an ideal vacation house for Alsace (and if you haven’t thought about Alsace for a vacation, you should). The location is perfect, between Ribeauville and Riquewihr in a charming, attractive village along the Alsatian wine route (there are several caves in Hunawihr), near the major tourist towns but apart from them. The house is a 16th-century building, but fully modernized, clean, well furnished and well equipped. The pictures capture it perfectly. It was excellent for two couples (which we were), but is also big enough for a family with children. Just as important to us, the owner was the perfect host – and our experiences in this regard has not always been good. He answers e-mails promptly, is clear about terms, and was a pleasure to do business with. He gave us a very thorough introduction to the house when we arrived, has excellent maps and books to use, and was very helpful with questions (e.g., about places to eat). He gave us his mobile phone number in case we needed him and came by mid-week to make sure all was well and to wish my wife a happy birthday. Overall, I would rate this nearly the perfect vacation house to rent.
Our family (with 3 young children, youngest aged 2) had a thoroughly enjoyable week in this beautifully restored old village house which is very spacious and comfortable with all mod cons (good TV but no DVD so we brought our own). Walking in the area is excellent directly from the house, both in the surrounding Vosges mountains (such pure air) and to many nearby villages. In particular Riquwihr and Ribauvillé are easily walkable on picturesque quiet tracks through the vines. The stork and otter reserve in Hunawihr is well worth a visit as is the interactive Birds of Prey display at the Chateau of Kintzheim (NB not Kientzheim). Lots of good hearty restaurants nearby including two in Hunawihr itself (Suzel and Caveau du Vigneron). A small shop provides all you need for tasty breakfasts and any emergencies. We will be back again next year without a doubt.
This idyllic house from the 17th century in the romantic wine village of Hunawihr, close to Ribeauvillé and Riquewihr, is surrounded by vineyards. We have kept the house as authentic as possible, with historical furniture and decoration. It is a small holiday paradise for up to 8 people, with 4-bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and a small garden with terrace. Many amenities such as a flat screen TV, digital TV, hi-fi system, DVD player, cosmetic mirror and facial towels are available for your convenience.
