|Minimum Stay||3 - 7 nights|
This beach house has five bedrooms (four on the second floor, one on the third, loft on the fourth) with an elevator. The house is in immaculate condition, completed in November, 2003. There are hardwood floors throughout the house, beautiful kitchen cabinets and appliances with quartz countertops, wetbar with ice maker, two master bedrooms, 37 inch TV with Direct TV (five additional TVs as well), and a screened porch.
The kitchen, dining, great room and master bedroom are on the top floor and open up to a deck that has breathtaking views of the marshes and Harbor River. Two of the downstairs bedrooms open up to a screen porch with the same view. The screen porch has 2 outdoor daybeds for great afternoon naps! You will have access to the Harbor Island Beach and Racquet Club. Also, the house comes with a golf cart.
Located in the private, gated community of Harbor Island, just 20 minutes from historic Beaufort SC. The home, at the end of a cul-de-sac, has a panoramic view in the rear of the marshes which are teeming with wildlife and the Harbor River.
To the front is a great view of the ocean. The rear deck is a great place to enjoy one of the most fantastic sunsets you will ever see. At the other end of the cul-de-sac is beach access to several miles of quiet, uncrowded beach on the Atlantic Ocean.
This smoke-free house has five bedrooms plus a loft and sleeps 13. There are two master bedrooms, one with a king size bed and the other with a queen bed. Two additional bedrooms have queen beds, and one bedroom has a bunk bed and a trundle (three twins). There is also a loft with a day bed and pull out trundle. In summary there are 3 queens, 1 king and 5 twins. In addition to the beds inside the house there are 2 daybeds on the screen porch where some of our guests have enjoyed napping and sleeping.
The Great Room has two full sized sofas with a large dining table that seats eight. In addition, there is a bar that seats an additional four. There is also a pack-n-play crib.
We have a very large, fully equipped kitchen with quartz counters and new appliances with plenty of room to handle large families. The house comes with all linens provided and is professionally cleaned after each rental at no additional charge.
Harbor Island is a 1700-acre island about 15 miles east of Beaufort SC directly on the Atlantic Ocean and is a private gated community with over two miles of private beaches. The island is uncrowded and a great place for families. There are several golf courses nearby as well as Hunting Island State Park.
You have access to the Harbor Island Beach & Tennis Club which has an oversized pool, kiddie pool, tennis courts, fitness center, weight room, playground, volleyball court, snack bar, and basketball area.
We have four children. We live in Columbia, SC. It takes 2 1/2 hours to get from our house in Columbia to our house in Harbor Island. Fortunately close enough for weekends away!
Jeannie Aull purchased this house in 2003
We loved the combination of nature and family fun Harbor Island offers. The backside of our house is located on a beautiful salt marsh estuary teeming with wildlife. The other side is a beautiful un-crowded beach suited for walks, sunbathing, swimming, bocce ball, etc. The salty breezes and beautiful views give this place an intoxicating feeling that makes it tough to leave.
It starts with the spaciousness of the open floor plan and tall ceilings. There is plenty of room for the family to gather but also hideaways to enjoy quite time. The views offered on the decks are very special. The inverted floor plan (living area on the top floor) gave us even better views than we realized when we bought the lot. Sunset cocktails from the upstairs deck is a must do for us every afternoon. The two daybeds on the screen porch make for a good place to gather for conversation and enjoy the breeze.
We stayed at the Aull’s home over Christmas. My group included eight adults and three young children. It was a wonderful experience from booking to the very end of the stay. There was a white grapefruit tree that was in season. So delicious! We have several family members with dietary restrictions, and the kitchen was fully stocked to allow us to cook all of our meals. There are plenty of roads to ride bikes, including a nearby playground for my kids. The golf cart was a huge hit to allow for those who could not bike. We loved the beds on the back porch, multiple naps occurred there. The best though…. Sunsets. Beautiful!! I would highly recommend this home for families. Here is a helpful tip. The main living floor is above the bedrooms. If there are young babies that cannot sleep with noise, plan wisely which bedroom they are in. There are some rooms which are quieter due to less foot traffic above. The elevator makes the house accessible to all, aside from the loft.
There is some damage on the island from the hurricane, but none affecting the livability of this home. Hunting Island was almost completely shut down with so much damage. That was a disappointment, but serves as a reminder of the power and the cycles of nature. Overall, we had such a good time, I wouldn’t be surprised if my family goes back again to this same house.
Thank you so much to the owners for sharing their home!
We just got home from having Thanksgiving at this house, six adults and two small children. The house was great, we had fewer people than we planned for so it was perhaps a little too much house but we aren't complaining. Our visit was about a month after Hurricane Matthew and lots of houses in the community took serious damage from that, but this house fared well, just a little roof damage which impacted our visit not at all.
We loved the main floor, which on this house is the third floor. Mornings and evenings were very enjoyable from the big deck ... Even tho the view faces west, the morning sky colored up beautifully all around with sunrise. I can't count the number of times we discussed what a great design the floor plan of the entire house really Is. The main floor is open, so cooks can stay engaged with the group, kids can work on keep-busy activities at the table, some folks can relax on the deck and others can lounge on the sectional in the living room. The main floor also has a little loft overlooking it, which is outfitted with a daybed. We didn't wind up using that room for sleeping, but the children in our group went and played with toys and dolls up there -- nice, cuz they were still close but could feel independent from us. Down a little hallway are a couple doors: one is a half bath and the other leads to the master suite, which is really nice. It's huge with all the amenities we could ask for, plus a door to the living room deck. The remaining bedrooms and the laundry room are down a flight of stairs on the level above the carport area. There is a long screened in porch off that middle level, which can be accessed from the two biggest bedrooms as well as from the hallway. We thought it might not get a lot of use, but turned out to be a very attractive place for naps for the grown ups (no place was an attractive place for naps for the children).
We really appreciated the golf cart, and although we only used the elevator to unpack our stuff when we arrived and to reload our cars when we left .. boy, we were glad to have it. We loved the little ice maker unit in the living room, and used it all the time. Actually, we would have been hurting without it because the refrigerator/freezer had some residual fishy smell from a previous guest so that ice wouldn't have worked for our beverages. But we know that happens by the ocean!
We enjoyed walks along the beach and around the neighborhood. We saw dolphins and gators. Thanks!
The house is stunning and the views are spectacular! I would say our only complaint was that we couldn't stay longer! Great place for kids and the elderly. My Mom has some mobility issues, so the elevator was a big help with her, plus bringing up groceries and luggage. The island was very charming. We hope to be back next year!
Wonderful weekend. Great house extremely well equipped. Loved our time there but it was too short.
We spent a very enjoyable 6 days in this property, celebrating a birthday with a family reunion. The house is very well equipped, very functional and nicely located. Our family included 8 adults and 4 children, with ages from 9 months to 90 years so the elevator and golf cart were much appreciated. The views are great; one day a small pod of young dolphins greeted us from the adjacent creek. The owners are attentive and easy to work with, Harbor Island is delightful, we were pleased to be able to revisit for this brief period. The area is very historical and the nearby town of Beaufort is most pleasant. Because it is heavily used, some minor TLC would be in order, but this in no way lessens the desirability or functionality of the house.
Harbor Island- 15mins outside of Beaufort, 35mins from the center of Parris Island. In order to get on the island you must go threw security with a pass. Great feature because you feel safe. The island is very clean, private and gorgeous! READ READ READ the papers the security gate gives you upon arrival with the rules of the island as far as parking, noise, trash collection, animal wildlife, neighborhood association etc. All in place to protect the island & its wildlife. The beach is nice and quite. When you look out you mostly see other surrounding islands (at least that was our view from the end of the island we were at). Their are alligators & snakes. I would not recommend letting small children play outside unless supervised. The marsh is beautiful and has canoe paths. My family enjoyed taking the canoes out. The house has 2 canoes. Going to the beach was easy with the house golf cart. The house has lots of garage parking. Enough for 4 cars. The elevator runs from the garage to the 3rd floor. Great for when yr bringing in luggage & groceries. It was nice for my 92yr old grandfather because he cannot go up stairs well. The house is very spacious. The perfect beach house setup. Lower level is the garage, the the 1st level has all the guest rooms which are nice & spacious. 2 bathrooms, laundry room, screened porch facing the marsh. The next floor is the main floor with the kitchen, family room and dining room. Lots of room for big families. Big dinning room table & couch. Very open & has a porch that opens up & faces the marsh. The house has lots of supplies! You probably won't need to bring/buy much. The master bedroom is off the living room. Very nice & roomy. Plenty of closet space & large bathroom. Their is a loft above the family room with a daybed. Nice area for kids.Overall, we enjoyed our stay here. We were in town for my son's Marine Graduation. This house was perfect for our large family. The owners were very helpful & responded fast to questions. Beaufort is very nice with plenty of stores, restaurants, etc. Loved the southern charm everywhere.
