Thankyou all so much for the exceptional retreat and superior college graduation celebration. ...A once in a lifetime experience for us all..the fishing , swimming, and exploring and being together was amazing!
Staying at this quaint and cute cottage was a great experience for us. The location was great—the cottage served as a superb jumping-off point for visits to Acadia National Park and many other Down-East Maine sites. We had a great time kayaking on the lake while we stayed there.
I stayed in the Well House for 2 weeks while kayaking, biking, and hiking on the Bangor area. I LOVED the little cottage! It was so comfortable, nicely appointed, clean, in a quiet area--I really felt right at home. It is also on a beautiful pond (Fields Pond) with amazing wildlife and a partial coastline and island owned by the Audubon Society. Josh was very accommodating. I highly recommend it.
We spent Easter weekend at the cottage (me, wife, and two adult boys). There was plenty of room, everything worked, Josh was very responsive (not that there was anything for him to really respond to). Beds were clean and comfortable, linens were clean, cottage was clean throughout, I can't think of a single "con". We would definitely recommend this cottage to travelers to Maine.
My husband and I spent 3 nights at this idyllic little cottage. The setting is beautiful, the cottage is well-stocked with everything you need. A 2 minute walk takes you to vistas on a beautiful lake. The bed was extra comfortable. I would recommend this rental to anyone who wants to get away from it all with the convenience of shopping nearby. Josh, thanks a million!
The cottage lived up to our expectations - in a delightful woodland setting with a glimpse of Fields Pond. We were greeted by the owner's son on arrival, who gave us useful information, including how to get Wi-Fi access (it was a bit erratic, but we found we could get a better signal by sitting outside on the deck). The cottage itself was full of quaint artefacts (a few too many for my husband's taste), and some of the items of furniture were made from what looked like locally crafted wood. We were grateful for the window screens, as being in the trees and close to the pond there were a number of insects flying around. This kept us in during the evening, which was a shame as we would have liked to have dined on the deck occasionally. Well-equipped for self-catering, though we missed not having a kettle. We were invited to use the laundry facilities at another of the properties on site, which we found very useful as our week at Loon Hollow was only half-way through a ten-week trip . We were disappointed not to see any wild life (not even the loons), and during our stay the pond was too rough for us to take advantage of the kayaks on loan. However, all in all we had a very pleasant and relaxing stay and would certainly recommend the Well House to any couples wanting an "away from it all" experience and families with older children who would enjoy climbing the ladder and sleeping in the loft.
I have traveled a great deal and staying on thus property was just a delight. We went to Bangor to pick up our son who had just completed the Appalachian Trail and we wanted to celebrate his accomplishment. We loved the accommodations, the property, including a beautiful lake and water toys, but what we loved most were our hosts. Linda, the owner and her husband made us feel at home. She was amazing in terms of offering information and anything we needed to enjoy our stay. Her attention to detail is comparable to service one might expect in a five star hotel. So, I strongly recommend a stay at The Nest. Enjoy!
