Why Patti Dilzer chose Chincoteague Island

We built our vacation home in Chincoteague after vacationing there ourselves for years. We wanted to have our own place, with all the comforts of home. We love the natural beauty of the view of Assateague Island, and the long, ever-changing beach at Assateague, and the birds and ponies. We love to enjoy the sunset from the upper deck.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Welcome to Island Time. Here are a few comments from our our former guests. 'Your home is wonderful' fabulous decks, georgeous sunrises... 'The overall design is superb, love the windows, the excellent sound system and CDs...

We try to keep the house fresh and up-to-date, and we listen to our guest comments to guide improvements..

A wonderful home in Chincoteague

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time on our trip and loved this beautiful home. This home shows pride of ownership....something lacking in a lot of vacation rentals. It is extremely clean, solidly built and very well maintained. It is perfectly stocked - everything you need for a great vacation. We enjoyed biking all over the island and on Assateague Island. We also enjoyed the Veteran's Memorial Park - great tennis courts. There is a recycling and trash collection center just a mile or so away that was very convenient and we preferred to bring our recyclables and trash there every other day rather than use the trash bin. Lots of good food including fish tacos, shrimp, and pizza! Cute little downtown with a used bookstore that we enjoyed. Thanks for sharing this lovely place!

Perfect island getaway

  • 5 of 5

The description of the house was very accurate. It was a lovely house with great views. The neighborhood was very quiet and cozy. Although you had houses around you, it was still very private.

The owners were very easy to work with and gave good instructions. The house was clean and very comfortable.

The views of the sunrises were wonderful. If you are a bird watcher, then you will love all the different types of birds! Great location, easy to get to and will definitely stay at Island Time again.

A little bit of Paradise

  • 5 of 5

My parents and I thoroughly enjoyed our 5 day stay at this amazing house in a little bit of paradise. We were sad to leave and immediately started thinking about when to return. The house is welcoming and comfortable without being pretentious, which I really appreciate. We felt very much at home and especially loved sitting on the upper and lower decks, depending on the time of day. Morning and nighttime were perfect for the upper deck, while the lower deck and screened in porch provided shade in the heat of the afternoon. So much thought and care has gone into the design of the house, which integrates beautifully with the natural surroundings. There is a high level of privacy here with large trees separting the adjacent houses.

I kayaked as much as possible, but we also loved staying at the house. Even the one really rainy day was enjoyable as we remained cozy inside and watched the rain fall through the many windows. The windows, in fact, are one of the best features of this house. Lots of light and so many views. The property was immaculately clean and the kitchen well-stocked. One oddity is that there is no oven, but there is an outdoor grill and of course a stove. We had no need for an oven and were able to cook our meals without difficulty. Love the rounded dining nook! I would definitely come back for another vacation (longer would be better) and do highly recommend this property for smaller groups or families.

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for your review. We like hearing from our guests. One clarification - while we don't have a standard oven, the microwave is also a convection oven, so you can bake. And thanks for noticing the cleanliness - we think we have the best housekeeper and we will be sure to let her know that you noticed.

Excellent Choice!

  • 5 of 5

My daughters and I spent 4 days here over the Christmas holiday. The owners were wonderful to work with, the house was even better than described and the location was perfect. The sunrise over the water from the balconies was breathtaking. We would definitely stay here again!!

Relaxing weekend on the water

  • 5 of 5

My husband, daughter, nephew, and I rented this house over the Memorial Day weekend, and we were more than pleased with this property. The house is beautifully maintained, and the listing photos fail to capture the openness and beautiful light. We especially enjoyed the 2 decks from which we could view the water as well as the night sky. We also made use of the sound system with the extensive jazz collection. The bedrooms are all well appointed and bright; the master bath is exceptional with its large jacuzzi tub with view of Assateague Channel. We rode bikes to the beach every day and picked up sandwiches at the Sea Star Cafe as well as at Woody's BBQ. Both places have excellent fare. Having such a well equipped kitchen, we decided to buy fresh shrimp at Gary Howard's Seafood and made our own Creole shrimp. Of course we stopped for ice cream at the Island Creamery! We have been going to Chincoteague for the past 25 years, and this property has been one of the favorites, both for its location and its welcoming atmosphere. The owners are very attentive and were kind enough to arrange for their housekeeper to mail us some clothing we had accidentally left behind. We will definitely return!

Wonderful Girls' Retreat

  • 5 of 5

It had been one of the weeks when the rain never stopped, and the three hour drive from Washington dragged into six but as we came into Chincoteague, the skies began to lighten and as we turned into 6363 Pine Drive, the rain tapered into a fine mist over the woods and the water. I lay the magic on the house. It is wonderful. Airy, well-appointed and built to maximize the water view. The master suite has its own sitting area and balcony overlooking the inlet, and the downstairs bedroom and the living room have stellar views but the most special feature of the house is the screened-in porch with a table that could easily seat 10. Fantasies of Thanksgiving on the water and wonderful dinner parties.

The hosts could not have been more accommodating. The location is superb and Chincoteague continues to charm with its small-town, otherwordly ways.
