One of the best family vacations yet!

  • 5 of 5

My wife, 2 boys, and I stayed at Jan's condo this April. My boys are 10 and 8. We are from the Northeast and this was our first trip to California. After the flight we grabbed our rental car and headed to the condo. Jan met us there and gave us the tour. Let me just say it looks just like the pictures she has posted. The view is unbelievable! The kitchen has everything you would ever need. We did go to the grocery store and stock up and cooked quite a bit while there. The master bedroom was huge with a big walk in closet. The master bathroom has nice large tile walk-in shower. The kids bedroom and bathroom were also great. The living room has a huge flat panel TV that we watched at night. She also has all the linens, beach towels, boogie boards, beach toys, cooler, etc. I think my favorite part of the condo was the porch off of the living room. You just slide open the doors and listen to the waves crash. My kids loved the koi pond that has fish, turtles and ducks right outside of the condo door. Also the condo complex is gated so you feel very safe.

The beach is amazing. Be prepared to walk up and down some stairs to get to the beach. I think there was something like 125 stairs? The ocean water is chilly, but we are used to swimming in Maine so we got in. The kids had a blast boogie boarding and playing frisbee on the beach. After the beach we would head to the pool and hot tub for a bit.

We did do the tourist things and headed to the Zoo, Seaworld, and the Safari Park. We planned it so we didn't hit rush hour. On the way home from Seaworld we used the GPS and drove the coast back. We did a caravan tour on the safari park where we got to feed giraffes and rhinos. That was awesome. We also went to La Jolla twice to see the sea lions. My kids couldn't get enough of that. It was nuts how close you can get to them.

We walked all over Solana too. Lots of little places to eat and I felt very safe there too. I wish there were a few more shops selling t-shirts, but no big deal.

There was so much to do in San Diego that we couldn't do everything we wanted. But it was probably our best family vacation yet. I highly recommend Jan's place. And Jan we very welcoming and was just a text away if we needed anything. If we are ever out there again we will be renting her place.

Beautiful ocean view - perfect location

  • 5 of 5

This was the second year my husband and I rented Jan's condo. It is absolutely gorgeous and was perfect for our family of four, children ages 1 and 3 years old. The condo was very clean and extremely well appointed. The kitchen had every tool I could think of. There are lots of linens, extra blankets, beach towels, and even toddler toys. The bedrooms are a good size and the master bedroom has a very large closet - big enough to set up a pack and play. We spent a lot of time at the condo because our children are young - it was absolutely wonderful to sit on the deck and enjoy the unobstructed views of the ocean while our children were napping or sleeping at night. Seascape Sur is a beautiful property with a great location. The grounds are beautiful - our kids loved exploring and looking at the ponds with fish, ducks and turtles. The beach is a very short walk down some stairs. The parking stall is very close to the condo, which we found very helpful. There are wonderful restaurants and a great playground (Fletcher Cove) within walking distance. Sea World, the Zoo and Legoland are all a short drive. Jan is a lovely host. She greeted us upon our arrival, gave us a tour, answered all of questions and left us a bottle of wine. We loved our stay and hope to return again.

If there really is a heaven...THIS IS IT! Simply Paradise!

  • 5 of 5

From the moment, Jan opens the door for you, (yes, you are personally greeted by the owner) the view of the ocean takes your breath away! It is simply stunning! The condo looks like a model home and is comfortable, as well. Everything has been well thought out and if you are cooking, everything needed is at your fingertips. The ocean breeze and the waves crashing will truly give you some of the best night's sleep you have ever had! In addition to the ocean, the front of the condo is simply beautiful also. I loved watching the three turtles, numerous fish and ducks in the gorgeous pond and lush vegetation right outside your door. I can not wait to return to Paradise!

Amazing Ocean views with daily dolphin sightings and stunning sunsets!

  • 5 of 5

We spent a wonderful week at Jan's ocean front condo over spring break. The condo is equipped with absolutely everything you need from cooking meals to enjoying the beach or the pool.

The balcony deck overlooks the ocean and can be opened up from the dining room and living room (three sliding doors) to allow you to enjoy the ocean breeze and sounds while you are preparing your meals. We had a small school of dolphins pass by the condo in the mornings and the afternoons that we happened to be in the condo. Long walks can be taken on the beach in either direction, but watch the tides or be prepared to take off your shoes. The condo is positioned perfectly to take in the amazing coastal sunsets,

We have rented many ocean view condo's over the years (on all coasts) and this complex did not disappoint. The complex grounds are kept up very nicely with beautiful flowers, ponds and green spaces throughout. The pools and hot-tubs were clean and not busy at all during our stay.

We drove into San Diego three or four times (USS Midway area, Coronado Island, San Diego Zoo, Balboa Park), if you time it outside of rush hour it is an easy drive in and out, 20 -25 minutes. We also drove to La Jolla to see the Sea Lions in La Jolla Cove (10 minute drive) and have a sunset dinner at Georges (Highly Recommend) and Dukes (Great views). We drove inland to Cuyamaca Rancho State Park for a hike up to Cuyamaca Peak (amazing mountain, valley and lake views) and if you loop around you can hit Julian for the famous Julian Pie Company Pies. That trip was about an hour's drive, little traffic both in and out.

Paradise in Solana Beach

  • 5 of 5

On a scale of 1-10, we would say this was a legitimate 10 in all regards. Great accommodations, location and views. We were met in person by the owner who could not have been more welcoming in addition to answering any and all questions and explaining everything we would need to know about the condo, the area and notes of local interest. We would repeat in a heartbeat and highly recommend. Thanks Jan.

Wonderful Stay!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent a fabulous month in Jan's lovely, clean, spacious condo! In all honesty, following a nightmare of an experience in a different unit in the complex last year (building 533, unit 140), we were very reluctant to rent again at Seascape Sur. We were so glad we didn't let last year's experience deter us. Not only was this unit in perfect condition, it was a pleasure to work with Jan. Such a contrast from last year. The view is gorgeous--an expansive, unobstructed view of the Pacific. As stated, Jan was an absolute pleasure to work with. She was always available and responsive to our every need and question. In addition to being warmly greeted by Jan and that breathtaking view, we were also greeted with a bottle of wine on the counter and a thorough orientation to the condo and the Seascape Sur complex. The unit's location within the complex is ideal. It is a short, easy walk from the parking garage to the unit, and we loved that the condo is all on one level. Since the weather was cool all month, we especially enjoyed the fireplace. We cooked often and really appreciated having all of the herbs and spices that were provided! The beds were very comfortable and, being that we were staying for a month and brought lots of clothes for all types of weather, we loved the large walk-in closet in the master bedroom. Solana Beach is a terrific community. The condo is within walking distance of Cedros Avenue, the "main drag" with great shopping, cafes, and the famous Belly Up music venue. It is walking distance to Fletcher Cove, a beautiful spot for sitting and viewing with easy access to the beach. The beach is also directly accessible from the condo complex via 127 steps (easy going down; a good workout climbing up!). I can't say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay at this condo, so much so that we have already booked for next year. Thank you, Jan!
