There is a twin sized bed that doubles as a couch in the living room for a child or another adult. Here you can enjoy an ocean view and breezes from the tropical trade winds. At night you will be serenaded by the sounds of the coqui frogs. Counselor and practicing artist. Maria is a para-professional tutor with ESL dept. It was not by design to transform our spare room into a rental, but typical of a teacher, wanted to lend a helping hand improve the quality of life and make a positive impact on the lives of others. I built a guest room for visiting family and friends, but it became a way to provide affordable accommodations for vacationers and sincere desire to make your Hawaiian vacation experience a memorable one.
John Akagi purchased this studio in 2010
Many rental properties are operated by owners living on the mainland, many without in depth knowledge of the lands and people of Hawaii. Because the owner is on property, Your concerns and questions will be addressed immediately with the spirit of aloha.
It's always nice to have a quiet, comfortable place to retreat to after a busy day of taking in new sites. We can talk story and share our traveling experiences. We will do our best to answer any questions you may have; but if you desire total privacy, we can accommodate that as well. Aloha!
Thak you very much John & Mary. It's ben a pleasute. Mahalo.
John's place had everything you would need for a vacation. Towels, boogie board, snorkeling gear, etc. We found it was a great central location for all the places we were visiting as well (Volcanoes, hot pools, Hilo). Felt like home!
This was an excellent location for exploring the east side of the island. John and Maria were great hosts and very responsive to any needs. The property was clean and comfortable. Would stay here again.
John and his family were wonderful hosts!! His mom greeted us when we first arrived and later we got to meet John who greeted us with open arms as if we were his family! The flat that he offers was exactly as described and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. It was also chuck full of resources on exploring the big island! They even let us do laundry (always available upon request)! Also super clean and well maintained. The neighborhood was beautiful and quiet - it was great to be able to "go home" after a day of touring and sight seeing. The location is in great proximity to all area attractions - we even did some hiking in the neighborhood along the shore! There are so many great things I can say about this listing and my stay - if you are looking for a great place to stay on the Hilo side then this is the place! Thank you again John and Maria and John's Mom :)
We stayed just for couple days, wish we could stay longer! It feels like home. Beautiful, peaceful place with good energy. John and Maria are wonderful hosts. We found a new friends. Thank you very much! A hue how (until we meet again).
John & Maria live in a neighbor near the ocean and have put together a charming place for visitors. Separate bedroom, modern bath, extra amenities like Hawaiian coffe, teas, water, small kitch, BBQ and outside activities toys.. Slept well without needing their new a/c unit. While the location is remote, we were able to explore the Hilo side of the island completely. Much better to not have to drive across island in 1 day. Mahalo & Aloha
