About Dan Papes
We are a family that lives in Westchester County, New York. We are multi-generation Adirondackers who know the area well, have a deep devotion and love for the communities and nature in the Park. We take a very personal interest in helping our guests enjoy the Adirondacks as we do.
Dan Papes purchased this House in 2012
Why Dan Papes chose Tupper Lake
This property is a classic Adirondack home. We have built it with pride and quality, from the mattresses you sleep on to the equipment in the kitchen to the technology throughout the house.
What makes this House unique
The house is very privately located, and is an easy 1/2 mile drive from the main road on a flat and maintained access road. While very private, it is also an easy drive to 3 different towns, including the wonderful village of Lake Placid.

Great house; private location; spectacular view!
We take a family vacation each year -- three generations, with ages from 5 to 72. We like to go to parts of the country we have never visited before, so Camp Eastwood and the Adirondacks were a first for us. The deck provides a breath taking view of the lake and is a great place to relax with a good book. We enjoyed all the outside activities available on site -- canoeing, kayaking, swimming, fishing, hiking. Games and movies occupied us inside on the two rainy days. We took day trips to Lake Placid and the Olympic sites and to the Wild Center in Tupper Lake for a spectacular view of the Adirondacks. Miniature golf outside Lake Placid was also a big hit with the kids.
The house was fantastic; the 15 of us never felt crowded and we were able to have dinner together at the large dining room table. It had all the amenities to make our stay comfortable and memorable. The owners and the caretaker, Eric, were great to work with. We hated to leave.
Highly recommend Camp Eastwood!
60th Wedding Anniversary week long celebration for our parents
Our family decided to get together for a week this summer in honor of our parents. All of their 4 children, all of their grandchildren, and great grandchildren stayed at some point during the week. What a beautiful home and surroundings! We enjoyed nightly camp fires, huge meals together, hikes, kayaking-no one was bored! My brother brought his boat so the kids loved the lake! Some of us climbed a mountain! We could not have asked for better accommodations and the owners were great! Thank you for sharing your home!
For many years we have done an annual family trip to Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire. We stayed in different homes on several Summers, mostly upscale as Camp Eastwood is. However, in 2015 (and then again this Summer) we decided to try Upper Saranac Lake, and found Camp Eastwood. While we love Winnipesaukee, the combination of the beauty and peacefullness of Upper Saranac, the luxury and quality and rustic nature of Camp Eastwood, and dealing with the great owners of this property, we are going to do our trip annually at Eastwood. We stayed last year, this year, and are already booked for next year. I don't know as we need to say any more than that : ). Enjoy!
Rustic, Glamorous, Awesome Scenery!
We had a large family gathering at Camp Eastwood. All I can say is it was awesome and we will do our next reunion here as well. Really spectacular place and we will never forget it.
Camp Eastwood: A Special Place For Our Friends and Family
Beautiful and spacious home with everything we could ask for, beautiful area, very little boat traffic, and all ages enjoyed their time at Camp Eastwood for our week's visit. This is our 3rd Summer in a row at this great home and we are booked again for next Summer as well : ).
Camp Eastwood was Perfect in Every Way!!
Our extended family of 20 just completed a reunion at Camp Eastwood and we wanted to share a review of this wonderful property! When we saw the photos and description of Eastwood last year we thought it was beautiful, but little did we know that it was even more spectacular than that. The property is situation on a large private lot, on a beautiful and private part of Upper Saranac Lake, and its spaces are designed for large families and people of all ages. The sandy swimming area (roped in) is shallow and perfect for our young grandchildren, the dock accommodated our pontoon boat, the kayaks and canoe are like new, and since the house is located at the southern portion of the lake there is almost no boat traffic. The house itself is huge, the bedrooms of substantial size, and both the main level and the lower level had spaces that our entire family could be in comfortably yet it is still decorated with class and Adirondack charm. We also appreciated that everything was modern and of high quality, from the tv/media equipment to the large dual-fuel range. We felt like we were in the lap of luxury including our Nespresso machine and the modern fitness center with great equipment. We even had a few very warm days, but sure enough the house has central air conditioning. The owners were wonderful with us, answering our many questions in advance from multiple family members, to the welcome package and information notebook, to their checking in with us to ensure we all was well. They sincerely seemed committed to ensuring our reunion was a success, which it was! Anyway we will be booking our next reunion scheduled 2 years from now for Camp Eastwood and every one of our family members is looking forward to it.
