Completely remodeled, with travertine flooring and countertops, new cabinets, appliances, furniture, new everything and only 30 feet from the ocean and steps to the sand beach!!!!
From the lanai, you can watch the surfers, parasailors, Atlantis submarine, whales playing, people snorkeling, or the cruise ships coming in... Everything is happening right in front of you. This is one of the best surfing spots on the island, the break is right in front of the condo. But if you prefer to read a book and just relax, this is also the most tranquil place to be.
This condo is located within a short walk to town, restaurants, and great shopping.

Me and my BFF had the pleasure of staying at the Kona Reef condo of
Joe and Ann. This ocean front condo was beautiful,clean and the Sunset
was magnificent to look at. The condo is walking distance from all the restaurants, shops, hotels. Their is a beach right next door to the condo.
We ranted a car but hardly used it. Next year we will come back to this beautiful condo but will not rent a car. Down the street walking there is a farmers market, any kinda food you could ever want.
The condo was decorated really nice, Hawaii plants Hawaiian furniture
I just can"t say enough good things about this condo.
But will be back next yr and stay here again....................
This is truly oceanfront, oceanview property.Right in the heart of Kailua-Kona, everything you would want to do here is seconds away. Nice cozy Condo with a amazing bbq/pool area with spotless grilles that seem to self clean over night.
The condo at Kona Reef was one of the best places we have ever stayed in Kona. A lot of thought and care was taken to outfit the unit with everything one could need during a vacation in paradise.
The outdoor gear with chairs, snorkel gear, cooler and cold bag was great. The king size bed was as comfortable as our own bed and the living room couch was super comfy and great for relaxing after a long day of excursions. The large TV was a plus, since most places have old, small TVs. The kitchen was outfitted with everything you need to prepare delicious meals.
The outdoor area with grills, tables, pool and hot tub was kept super clean and allowed the perfect area to enjoy a meal or a cold drink with the beautiful ocean waves crashing right in front of you.
Being a few blocks to downtown allowed for easy walking to all the downtown spots and easy access to the highway.
We would definitely recommend this unit to anyone visiting Kona. Wendy and Rusty put a lot of love and care in creating the perfect space for a romantic get away. Mahalo!!!
Highly recommend this place. Ideal location-1st floor w/ ocean out your door. Tastefully decorated. Lanai great for meals, sunsets & to relax. People occasionally walked by our lanai - nobody annoyed us. Fun to watch little birds, boats, dolphins & surfers. Pool area very nice w/ Jacuzzi. Going to town was a short walk & felt safe any time. Driving to any part of the island from here was easy.
Bed is extremely soft - I loved it. If you like a firm mattress, you might be disappointed. Condo was clean & bright -had coffee maker & grinder, blender, toaster & all basic kitchen essentials, as well as full-size refrigerator, dishwasher, oven/stove & Washer/dryer . Nice shower pressure.
Air conditioner worked quickly & well, although is a little loud. It has a timer & we never had to run it more than an hour before it was plenty cool for us. It made a nice white noise to go to sleep with. Fan in bedroom was nice. One of the windows in the bedroom did not close completely - the only time it affected us was when we heard the sprinklers come on at 6:30 every morning, but most mornings we were ready to get up & explore island anyway. .
I noticed 2 cabinets full of books. We do not watch TV but there were 2. Cooler provided.
Owner responded promptly when booking & when we asked for directions & code to get in a few days before we arrived.
After reading several confusing & contradictory reviews of luaus on island, we went to the Voyagers of the Pacific Luau at the Royal Kona & enjoyed it. It was nice to be able to just walk over.
Breakfast at Bongo Bens, Lava Java, Daylight Mind Coffee Company, & Green Flash Coffee-all good. We bought fresh fruit from town market for a few breakfasts. Went to Sam Choys during happy hour- they made the best Mai Tai I've ever had. Three appetizers filled the 2 of us up.
Meals at Huggos on the Rocks & Hana Hou-good. Subway -great to pick up picnic lunch before we left for day. A little disappointed with the meal at Humpy's although they had fabulous pretzels. Punaluu Bake Shop had the best Milikoi Malasadas - a donut like confection w/ icing. Thai Thai restaurant near volcano had the best eggplant/basil dish I've ever tasted. Volcano House had a nice lunch. Kona Inn was a nice meal with sunset view, but pricey. Hula Daddy did an informative tour. Hawaiian Tropical Botanical Garden was fabulous! Mauka Meadows Coffee Plantation had pretty grounds too & was closer.
Walmart & Safeway for groceries-short drive
On my recent stay at the Kona Reef My friend and I were very pleased with almost everything. The condo complex is very close, within walking distance of town. We had an oceanfront unit with exceptional views of the ocean and waves as they crashed into the rocks along the shore. No beach at the complex but there is a small sandy beach just to the south. Our unit was well equipped and had everything you need for a pleasant stay. The unit is light and airy and has been updated recently. Our one complaint was the parking situation. There are no assigned stalls so it is a first come first serve experience with not enough onsite parking for all residents. There is a parking garage as well as two surface lots but if you don't arrived back at the complex early in the evening you might have to park on the street. (We had to one night) Another issue is the disposal of garbage. The only place to do so is out on the main road, some distance from our unit. Also, I did have to purchase a new pillow as the ones provided were very old and flat and needed to be thrown away. Our experience over all was very nice and I would consider booking again in this complex.
This unit has beautiful travertine floors throughout, bed was comfortable if a little soft, and nice furnishings. We were disappointed this unit did not have the usual helpful accompaniments including sugar, foil or plastic wrap, for example. There was a package of good coffee for our first morning. Luckily we can drink our coffee black if needed. There was salt & pepper and some dried pepper meat spice. And with only one plastic wine glass, it was difficult to toast one another - however, we decided Italian-style was fine for us, for the red, but the Prosecco required the stem.
On our arrival the humidifier was running full blast - we had no idea how or when to run this, or if it was a requirement - so we turned it off. There was an air conditioner with no instructions on use. This unit had ceiling fans in both the living room and the bedroom; we used these at all times and were comfortable, both heat/cold-wise and did not use the air conditioner (since we couldn't figure it out any ways.)
The only welcome we had included warnings about the use of the sink, the stove, the couch, and spillage on the travertine (of course, please immediately wipe it up.) We felt like the owners really did not want to rent this unit out, that we were not welcome, or maybe they were tired of renting it out (?)
Finally, the building manager entered our unit once without our knowledge and attempted to enter again (with the cable guy, for an upgrade) and was surprised to find us. I am not sure how the owner and manager communicate with each other, however, the mgr was very nice and sincerely apologetic for the interruption.
Overall the unit was lovely, the Big Island is amazing, and this was definitely a worthwhile trip - I recommend minimum 10days (not 7 like us!)
