Our contemporary style home, which we call BelleHouse, is clean, bright, sparkling new, and just 5 minutes from Belleayre Mountain where you can downhill ski, xc ski, snow shoe, hike, and dine.
Conveniently located in the town of Big Indian, guests can walk to the Belleayre Beach in the summer, walk or bike 1.4 miles to Peekamoose Restaurant, or drive 5 minutes to numerous hiking trails like Rochester Hollow and the Lost Clove Trail. The Full Moon Resort, a popular venue for weddings and parties, is 10 minutes drive.
This area of the Catskills is also great for mountain biking, road biking, and trout fishing.
BelleHouse offers 2 private bedrooms, both with queen sized beds and access to the back yard deck. An open floor plan allows for easy entertaining with a fully equipped kitchen, cozy lounge style living room, and dining for four either at the dining table or the bar style counter. A spiral staircase leads to a loft area which provides extra sleeping room, TV, play area, and yoga/workout room. We also offer WiFi, high def, large, cable TV, Boston Acoustics AirPlay speaker, DVDs, central air-conditioning, and central heat.
The fenced in back yard, open to the stream, has a large deck, perfect for BBQ’ing on the gas grill, dining, and sunbathing. Birch Creek flows all year round which is blissful for cooling off in the summer, lounging by in the spring, and gathering ‘round in the fall and winter next to our fire pit.
An easy 2 hours and 15 minutes drive from NYC, BelleHouse is the perfect spot for visiting the towns of Phoenicia, Woodstock, and Roxbury, attending the areas many music festivals, farm stands, and spas, and for endless hiking, skiing, biking, motorcycling, fishing, running, walking, swimming, eating, antiquing, and smiling.
BelleHouse has been our family escape since 2009. Myself, my Irish husband David, and our 4 young children have created some of our best memories here. In the near future we are making the move back to Australia, my home country. Although we will miss BelleHouse, we are excited to open up our home to visitors to enjoy our little piece of paradise.
Kim purchased this house in 2009
We have stayed at BelleHouse multiple times in both winter and summer. Convenient getaway from NYC, close to a small lake, and skiing. Great for families with small children. 2 bedrooms with huge loft upstairs that serves as a kids play area and/or extra sleeping. Large backyard with a deck and small creek that runs all year round. Very clean with all the conveniences of home.
Truly, it is! Centrally located between the lovely towns of Phoenicia and Margaretville (not to forget cute little Pine Hill), there's really no better spot. We loved the open layout of the house, our little girl loved the upper loft with all the toys and play area. We loved the easy access to the back yard, where we could romp and roam in the morning (along with our little dog) and inspect the rushing stream (which lulled us to sleep at night). The kitchen has everything you need for a great mountain breakfast (or dinner). Our weekend was pretty much rained out, but it didn't stop us from taking a short walk up the road to the Belleayre Beach/Day Use area, complete with a covered bridge, lots of wildlife (beavers! weasels! bald eagles!), and a trail that starts at an old train trestle. We look forward to returning!
Loved staying at the Belle House in Big Indian. It was clean and modern, with central air. It's really convenient to a wonderful swimming lake and is just a great place to relax and be quiet away from the city. It's also very close to our favorite restaurant, Peekamoose. I highly recommend the house for a quiet, country stay. We stayed in the summer. We don't ski, but if we did, I'm sure we'd be back in the winter because it's close to skiing as well.
Will go back for sure.
We'd booked the stay pretty last minute as it was on a whim trip for my husband and I along with our dog and Kim was extremely responsive, helpful and friendly. The house was very clean, bright and well kept. The backyard was huge with alot of space for our fairly medium-large dog to sniff around. The stream at the back provided nice water sound.
The locals are very friendly and the views around the area are beautiful and relaxing.
The house was really lovely, everything extremely clean, new and comfortable! We had trouble working the TV, was never able to get it on but was an opportunity to disconnect, and read and talk instead. Although on a main road, really did not hear the cars while sleeping since bedrooms in the back of the house. Plenty of instructions and welcoming comments. extremely comfortable. we were there for Country fest at Hunter mountain, little bit of a hike to house but worth it for the comfortable accommodations. Hopefully will be back. only thing missing was a hot tub!
My girlfriend and our 2 dogs were looking for a cozy yet modern rental for a weekend getaway from NYC - BelleHouse exceeded our expectations by far!!!! The weather ended up being colder than we had expected, so the fire pit was a huge plus. The house is stocked with everything that you need and super organized, making settling in quick and easy! The layout of the house is just beautiful and so unique. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen perfect for entertaining (or cooking together and cozying up on the HUGE couch). The backyard is much bigger than it looks in picture and was beautifully covered in fall foliage down by the creek when we were there. Our boys loved playing in the creek and running around the property! I could not say enough good things about this house, or about the pristine service Kim provided. We will definitely be back, and I would recommend BelleHouse to anybody looking for a quiet weekend away ! Thanks Kim!
We had a great time here. Three adults and two small children. The kids loved the upstairs play area stocked with toys. They also slept up there. The backyard was quaint, and your neighbors are locals. The stream in back is fast running. Our kids had wading shoes and sandals, so they were good to putz around in there.
The house is very clean, very updated. All a family needs for a home base. It's also very close to Bellayre Beach and lots of hiking trails.
The one drawback is during midday, you can hear the traffic from Route 28. But really, we spent most of our time outdoors and trekking around. And at night it was peaceful, with the stream gurgling as we fell asleep.
Would def stay here again. Thinking of gathering a couple of ski friends this winter for a long weekend. We could hit plattekill. Then with the kids, we could hit bellayre...
