4 bedrooms, 3 with queen and double beds, 1 has a bunk which is a double on the bottom and single on top, plus 2 hide-a-beds--one queen and one double. It is set up to accommodate larger families and groups. Great views of the mountains and located in convenient walking distance to all of the shops and restaurants in town. There is a laundry room with washer and dryer, Directv with 52' TV, gas BBQ grill, and covered porch to relax enjoy the long evenings. The dining table will easily seat 12. The yard is fenced and large enough for the kids to play games and wear off that extra energy.
We are 3rd generation Colorado natives. Terry is semi retired having worked as a teacher and administrator for over 30 years. Perry is a real estate broker having owned his own office for over 35 years. We have 3 children (all grown and with families of their own ). We live near Ouray, but always loved going there... so we purchased this home as a family retreat.. a gathering place for all of us. It has served us well, but we can only use it so much... so we have decided to make it available for others to enjoy.
Perry and Terry Hotz purchased this house in 2006
It is in a perfect location for the total enjoyment of Ouray and all it has to offer. Being only 2 blocks off Main Street, it is an easy walk to the Ouray Hot Springs Pool, and all of the shops and restaurants in town. It is a short walk to the Ice Park if you do ice climbing or just want to watch. It is a short walk to Box Canyon and the Ouray Perimeter Trail.
If you enjoy ATVs and 4 wheeling, Ouray is for you. It is referred to as the Jeep capital of the world. Bring your own or rent them in town. If skiing is your bag, Telluride is only an hour away, and the Ouray Hot Springs will soak away the soreness of the day of hiking, skiing, cross county skiing, or ..... just the everyday stress.
From your stay here, at our home, you won't have to load everyone up and drive to dinner or breakfast, or to the pool.. just gather them up and take a stroll.
This charming Victorian home was built in 1895 and updated over the years. It gives the feel of the older mining days but offers the conveniences of jetted soaking tub, laundry, gas fireplace, satellite TV..
Sit on the front porch and you can't help but stare at the mountains that surround you (you don't have to go outside to see them ).
This was a our second time visiting this house. Our experience this time was the same as last. It is a wonderful house with a combination of old charm and new technology that allowed us to chill in the house, get ready to explore the nature around us, and recover from our adventures. There were plenty of everything we needed to cook, clean, and have fun. The owners always communicate well and answer questions promptly. I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to spend time in and around Ouray!!
Great house for multi-families visiting Ouray. They had pool towels for the ouray hot springs at the door. Dining room table was large enough to seat 10+ plus people and there was a second dining room table that could seat 4. The kitchen was large enough to cook in and there is a newer dishwasher that works great. There was also 2 living rooms with 2 large couches in each living room. The gas fireplace was a nice touch and there was a big screen TV in one living room. The extra 2 bathrooms on the main floor made morning showers easier for all our guests since the 4 bedrooms are upstairs with only 1 bathroom upstairs. The porch was large and there was enough chairs to accommodate everyone. The grill was also very nice and large enough for parties.
The only cons are: 1) one bedroom upstairs doesn't have a door, 2) the door doesn't latch for one of the bedrooms upstairs, 3) missing screens from the upstairs bedrooms where kids sleep, 4) no AC and it was really hot at night with no ceiling fans in the upstairs area, 5) blinds are falling apart in the main living room and kids can easily yank on them, and 6) cookware/frying pans were not nonstick and made cooking eggs and bacon really hard!
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at this house. The location was wonderful, very close to downtown, but not so close as to get any downtown noise. In fact, an open window brought in the sounds of the creek even though that was a good block or 2 away. The house was well stocked with everything we might need and was full of atmosphere as well. I will definitely consider this property again when I return.
This house is perfectly located within walking distance of everything in town. It is quite charming, with plenty of room, and the beds are very comfortable. There are plenty of towels, including some to take to the aquatic center. The kitchen is very well-equipped and wonderfully organized, with the exception of a dishwasher, but we all pitched in. Every room was spotless.
The dining table accommodates quite a crowd, and the separate game table was always in use while we were there. The TV is awesome for watching DVDs, but the DirecTV is not hi-def, so we don't recommend watching on-air shows. We found many amenities, conveniently located, such as hair driers, lotions, mouth wash, and also laundry necessities. Everything works except for a quirky toaster that does one side at a time. Our grandchildren actually loved that.
We had a great time and will definitely stay here again if it is available when we come with the family. We contacted the hosts a couple of times and they were gracious and very responsive. It was really a perfect experience, and very reasonably priced.
The house was everything the owners stated. Wonderful house right in town walking distance to everything. Our host were very gracious and furnished a home that we could have called our own. Will definitely go back with our family. My only suggestion is to provide Wifi for your guest.
What a great location and a warm and friendly home for our family get-a-way. We rented the home over Memorial Day week-end, and even thought the weather wasn't great this home base provided the perfect setting for our family. The home was clean and neat and everything you would need for your stay. Much much nicer than a motel. We walked to Box Canyon and downtown and then to Cascade Falls and all in between. Easy access to everything that Ouray has to offer.
Jeep tours and trips, mountain climbing including several 14000 ft peaks, hiking, photography, exploring mining ghost towns, several hot spring pools in and near Ouray, ATV and Jeep rentals, rich in Colorado gold rush history
