Just steps away from amazing restaurants, pubs, bakeries, shops, galleries, bookstores and bike and kayak rentals in quaint downtown Winslow. Just a 30-minute ferry ride to the downtown Seattle waterfront! Perfect for one or two couples.

(Somebody say 'ahoy!)

Sail Packages:

You can view the full range of available sailing packages at our site

Island fun!:

You don't have to spend all of your time in Seattle. The island has plenty to offer, on a quieter, more laid-back scale. Restaurants, pubs, cafes and coffee houses are mere steps from the marina. (Literally, like maybe 2 dozen steps.) Wander a block or so further and you'll be in the center of our quaint little island town with world-class restaurants, boutiques, bakeries, coffee shops, bookstores, galleries, jewelers, movie theaters, free concerts in the park and a Saturday Farmer's Market in the summer, and our new art museum. Kayak and stand-up paddle board rentals are right next door. And bike rentals are only 2 blocks away.

For those on foot or bike:

Oh Joy II is only a few blocks from the Bainbridge Ferry Terminal and even closer to the rest of Winslow. Access from Sea-Tac airport is as easy as taking the light rail into downtown Seattle's University Street Station, strolling to the ferry dock a few blocks away and taking the short trip to Bainbridge Island. Once on the island you can amble through the waterfront park right to the dock where Oh Joy II will be waiting for you. (She'll be excited, but she'll calm down if you scratch her behind the mast.)

For those with wheels:

If you're driving, free parking is adjacent to the marina.

What to expect when you arrive:

We'll meet you at the marina to help you settle in for your stay, explain the mysteries of the marine toilet and answer your questions. Then we'll get out of your hair. (But we're only 10 minutes away, so we're ready to assist you with whatever you may need.)

Did we mention sailing?::

Not to belabor the point, but a sail on beautiful Puget Sound is not to be missed. If you're interested in adding sailing excursions to your trip just let us know. Oh Joy II is a very comfortable and capable ocean-going sailboat and we offer day sails, sunset sails (includes appetizers and bubbly) and over-night trips from 1 night to 2 full weeks.

Popular Add-ons (Contact us for rates):

About Harry Pattison & Joy Archer

Harry is a US Coast Guard licensed Master and Merchant Marine Officer with more than 40 years experience sailing the Pacific, Caribbean and Salish Sea.

He is also freelance writer and creative director, a mediocre guitar-er, curry fiend and a sea-faring hobo-sapien.

Joy is a professional writer and semi-full-time bloger-ette. Currently she writes for Bing and blogs for her gluttonous gluten free fans at Feast of Joy Blog. (Google it!)

Harry Pattison & Joy Archer purchased this boat in 2005

Why Harry Pattison & Joy Archer chose Puget Sound

We're sailors. Blue water, ocean sailors. And Oh JoyII is designed specifically to sail off shore, in luxury.

Her solid teak joinery with its hand-rubbed varnish and warm, tropical grain hails from a different era. In fact, it isn't available anymore, at any price. But she carries this luxury with understated grace and style.

Oh Joy II's saloon is warm and comfortable and filled with natural light, with the added comfort of a gas fireplace for chilly northwest evenings.

Her galley is complete, with double stainless steel sinks, refrigerator and freezer, three-burner gas range and oven, microwave, coffee maker and storage for enough provisions to satisfy even the most ravenous crew.

Two private, well-appointed double staterooms offer complete comfort. And the head (bathroom) is roomy, bright and has a separate shower complete with hot water and a built-in teak bench seat.

Carrying 900 square feet of sail, Oh Joy II can get up and go.

She is the definition of the proper off-shore sailing yacht and is built to Lloyds +100 A1 specs.

She is one of the finest cruising yachts on the water today.

What makes this boat unique

If you've never slept on the water, you've missed one of life's great natural tranquilizers, but be careful, there is a danger of on overdose and when that happens, you're hooked.

Whether you stay at the dock or take advantage of our 'Anchor Out' option, you'll love the warm and bright cocoon that is Oh Joy II.

In addition, we offer private sails, 3 hours to full day sails, sunset sails, overnights and even longer excursions. Go to Dreamboat Adventure Sailing to learn more about our sail offerings.

Guestbook comments from the owner

I could not have imagined a more wonderful idea for Christmas than spending time on the Oh Joy II! I did not have preconceived ideas of the experience but was open and excited about the possibilities. I am so grateful to Erik and Faye to have suggested a memory-maker-EXTRAORDINAIRE! The result was fantastic!

For starters, the marina was beautiful and very well-organized. There were bathrooms, showers, and a laundry easily accessible if you wanted more space than on the boat. Parking was close-by and there were fabulous big carts available that made for an easy transfer of suitcases and supplies to the yacht. My son, daughter-in-law and I only made one trip and we were settled! I was pleasantly surprised at the excellent security with magnetized cards used for entry to the marina and to the facilities, keeping them very private and safe. The area was well-lit and stone and chain sculptures and benches all along the bank overlooking the marina added a lovely ambiance. During our week stay, I enjoyed taking many pictures of this added bonus.)

Harry met us at the entrance as pre-arranged and exactly on time. A light mist was falling as we made our way in the late evening to the Oh Joy II. Some of the masts and boats in the marina were decorated with Christmas lights and it was very quiet as we

approached the OH Joy II via lovely wide concrete walkways. Even the edges had been extended for easy turns and access. It was very easy to make the 2 step entry on to the boat and to climb down the ladder into the cozy living area.

This was a wonderful first experience with Airbnb! I loved waking up in my bedroom with a large "picture window" above with the mast and an occasional seagull in plain view. I was the first one to know what the weather was like just by opening my well-rested, rocked-to-sleep eyes! The Oh Joy II yacht was immaculate, cozy and well-organized. Harry was a gracious and attentive host with a splendid eye for detail. Fresh flowers were on the table and in the bathroom, a supply of votive light candles(and refills), muffins, teas, granolas, and fruit were waiting. There were fresh towels, lots of blankets and a wonderful supply of small throw pillows to guarantee comfort no matter where you sat or rested, AND a small fireplace even (propane) with lighter handy! We were there for Christmas week and had brought a few decorations but Harry had already strung a line of ornaments (boat and sea motif, of course) across the table.

Fantastic!

Harry makes the reservation process about as easy as any hotel. His communication is phenomenal. His sailboat is as comfortable as any hotel. Also book the sunset sail with him as a part of your package. You won't regret it.

Hooked

  • 5 of 5

My three year old son and I spent two amazing nights aboard the Oh Joy II, enjoying beautiful quiet mornings in the harbor and cozy evenings in the cabin. The boat is equipped with everything we needed, and our stay was perfect (which anyone traveling with a toddler knows is no small feat). Harry is the loveliest of hosts and incredibly responsive to any questions I had during our stay. The day sail provides breathtaking views of Seattle and the surrounding islands. We cannot wait to return.

So perfect!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here with our two kids, ages 4 and 6, and our 7 month old baby. The kids had a blast sleeping on a boat, and we didn't feel too cramped. It was a beautiful location and quiet. We enjoyed eating dinner and having drinks on the deck, and the kitchen had everything we needed for a pancake breakfast. Blankets, sheets, pillows, etc were immensely comfortable and the ship itself is gorgeous. We had no trouble with the toilet, and Harry was very available by text if we needed him. Only wish we had squeezed in a sail, too. Next time! Highly, highly recommended.

Beautiful boat, super fun experience

  • 4 of 5

Beds are cozy - watch your head, we smacked ours many times. the marine toilet is actually fairly yucky - we did not use it as much as we could avoid it. It smells like a port-o-potty all through the boat every time you open the bathroom. Everything else was fantastic!

Owner's Response: If it smells, pump the toilet a few more strokes -- it's that complicated. A marine toilet can be cantankerous. Ours is no exception. But it doesn't stink. It's the other stuff that stinks. And the key to eliminating that odor is to get the stuff out of the hoses and into the holding tank. You do that by properly flushing the toilet. Sometimes that requires an extra cycle of pumping -- it takes about 10 seconds. Here's what happens: An improperly flushed toilet leaves effluent in the hoses. Effluent stinks. Count on it. Pumping the toilet an additional 10 strokes fully clears the hoses and voila, no stinky stink. It's not complicated. But it isn't a poop-and-push-the-button-and-forget-about-it situation that we're all used to on land. But it is critical to pay attention while I'm explaining the proper flushing of the toilet when you arrive.

Notes:
It's really impossible to describe the experience, both in the luxurious cabin or on deck. Watching bald eagles fish from the cockpit, watching the sunset and the moonrise. There's a reason we don't have a television on board: It just can't compete with life aboard! All guests and potential guests should be aware that this is a boat and it is on the water and as such, it entails the risks associated with any water activity. We provide Personal Flotation Devices (PFDs) and strongly recommend them anytime any of our guests are on deck or on the dock.
