Casa Flora is a complete little two room apartment just off Taos Plaza and close to everything Taos offers.
Enter through a brick courtyard lined with summer blooming flowers and outdoor seating area for an evening glass of wine or a morning cup of coffee.
Casa Flora has a living room/kitchen which is comfortable and inviting. The kitchen is well equipped for at home dining. The living room sofa is a double hideabed for two additional guests or children. The room is heated with a gas log stove and the skylight offers wonderful Taos light.
The bedroom features a queen bed with premium bedding, good reading lights cozy robes, and charming gas log stove.
The full bath has a tiled shower and plenty of towels and bath supplies. Leave your hair dryer at home.
Casa Flora is located in an adobe building built in the 1880's and has wooden floors, hand hewn beamed viga ceilings and many multi paned operable windows. 14' thick adobe walls assure winter warmth and summer coolness.
Casa Flora is furnished with antiques, original Taos art from some of our exceptional artists and my sense of whimsy throughout.
PLEASE NOTE: Even if my calendar shows a reservation for your dates, contact me. I have a total of 11 Vacations in Taos--soon it will be 12 so I have all sorts of accommodations available...
I moved here from Marin County California in 2005. I wanted a simpler life in a small town and have found my niche in Taos. I have a shop (right in front of Casa Flora) called Red Cat Melissiana with lingerie, gifts and a flower shop (hence Casa Flora...) I serve on a number of Board of Directors and still find time to landscape much of downtown Taos. I love sharing information about this wonderful town with my many guests.
I actually own a total of six vacation rentals in Taos. Everything from two little downtown apartments to two and three bedroom homes. All are special and decorated in a very 'Melissiana' style Many of my guests comment that they are what they always thought Taos should be...
Melissa /Taos mgr. purchased this apartment in 2009
Some women collect shoes, some collect shoes. I seem to collect houses. I love to furnish, decorate, equip and manage these spaces as vacation rentals. I consider myself 'The Vacation Rental Queen of Taos' I had finished my last project--two homes right downtown on a property that had been in foreclosure for two years. Now it will be on the Home & Garden Tour this summer! Quite a compliment to my style...I needed a new project and decided to turn the back two rooms of my shop into another rental. It's just so much fun!
Casa Flora is quiet and private. There is room for a couple to stretch out, enjoy, cook at home, but outside the front door is everything downtown Taos with shops, galleries, museums and a dozen restaurants within walking distance. There is even free overnight parking right across the street.
Melissa's Casa Flora had everything we desired for an enchanting stay in Taos between Christmas and New Years. The apartment is an easy 30 minute drive from the Ski Valley and a mere 30 second stroll from the plaza.
Everything in the apartment was clean and well-tended to. The kitchen was perfect for making a heart breakfast each morning before hitting the slopes. We also loved the coziness the gas stoves provided (don't worry...they are both operated with a wall thermostat--no wood-feeding required!) and the bedding was very comfortable.
We are already looking forward to our next trip and would absolutely stay here again. Thank you for a great re-introduction to Taos, Melissa!
Close to everything in old Taos, loved the original and historic adobe building, well equipped for cooking small meals, breakfast, etc.
We loved this tucked away adobe abode in Taos. It was an easy walk to the Plaza, the Kit Carson Museum, and many restaurants and shops. Parking was available right across the road. There is a little courtyard which must be beautiful in summer when the plants are blooming. Everywhere there are ornaments--in the garden, hanging from ceilings, in the entryway. Once inside, you are in a truly historical setting. Beamed ceilings, antiques, and two gas stoves that provide heat and atmosphere.
There was a minor issue with barking dogs next-door. This was quickly alleviated by Melissa who immediately contacted the owners. The barking had completely stopped by the time we returned from dinner. We had a little trouble with the keys working. My husband found salad oil in the fridge, applied it to the key, and no more problem.
A lot of thought has been put into decorating the apartment. There is a skylight in the kitchen area, and several mobiles swing. There is folk art everywhere.
Bed was very comfortable. Bathroom is a little tight, but very cute, and historical. Nice shower.
This was a perfect apartment for our long weekend getaway. It was cozy and comfortable, with a southwest feel. The location was perfect within easy walking distance of all the shops and restaurants. It was easy to work with Melissa and get it set up on short notice. We would love to come back and stay again! Thank you.
Casa Flora is right in the hub of Taos so there is no need to drive. It's artistically beautifully decorated, incredible inviting, quaint, charming, comfortable and memorable. It's a special place.
Class Flora worked out great for us. No surprises & Melissa, the landlady was helpful and attentive.
This apartment is ideal for those who want a quiet, private location right downtown
