About the property

Casa Flora Apartment Convenient To Everything

Casa Flora is a complete little two room apartment just off Taos Plaza and close to everything Taos offers.

Enter through a brick courtyard lined with summer blooming flowers and outdoor seating area for an evening glass of wine or a morning cup of coffee.

Casa Flora has a living room/kitchen which is comfortable and inviting. The kitchen is well equipped for at home dining and can seat four. The living room sofa is a double sofa bed for two additional guests or children. The room is heated with a gas log stove and the skylight offers wonderful Taos light.

The bedroom features a queen bed with premium bedding, good reading lights, cozy robes, and charming gas log stove.

The full bath has a tiled shower and plenty of towels and bath supplies. Leave your hair dryer at home.

Casa Flora is located in an adobe building built in the 1880's and has wooden floors, hand hewn beamed viga ceilings and many multi paned operable windows. 14' thick adobe walls assure winter warmth and summer coolness.

Casa Flora is furnished with antiques, original Taos art from some of our exceptional artists and my sense of whimsy throughout.

About Melissa /Taos mgr.

I moved here from Marin County California in 2005. I wanted a simpler life in a small town and have found my niche in Taos. I have a shop (right in front of Casa Flora) called Red Cat Melissiana with lingerie, gifts and a flower shop (hence Casa Flora...) I serve on a number of Board of Directors and still find time to landscape much of downtown Taos. I love sharing information about this wonderful town with my many guests.

I actually own a total of six vacation rentals in Taos. Everything from two little downtown apartments to two and three bedroom homes. All are special and decorated in a very 'Melissiana' style Many of my guests comment that they are what they always thought Taos should be...

Melissa /Taos mgr. purchased this apartment in 2009

Why Melissa /Taos mgr. chose New Mexico

Some women collect shoes, some collect shoes. I seem to collect houses. I love to furnish, decorate, equip and manage these spaces as vacation rentals. I consider myself 'The Vacation Rental Queen of Taos' I had finished my last project--two homes right downtown on a property that had been in foreclosure for two years. Now it will be on the Home & Garden Tour this summer! Quite a compliment to my style...I needed a new project and decided to turn the back two rooms of my shop into another rental. It's just so much fun!

What makes this apartment unique

Casa Flora is quiet and private. There is room for a couple to stretch out, enjoy, cook at home, but outside the front door is everything downtown Taos with shops, galleries, museums and a dozen restaurants within walking distance. There is even free overnight parking right across the street.

A great place to stay in Taos just a few steps from the Plaza.

Casa Flora exceeded my expectations. If we visit Taos in the future, I am certain we will stay there or in one of the other properties managed by Melissa.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the review. It was fun meeting you two and giving a tour of my tunnels and "Spirits" in the cellar. Thanks also for your purchases from my shop.

Perfect Location/Awesome Decor

  • 5 of 5

For our first trip to Taos in October we chose Casa Flora. It did not disappoint. The apartment is located within very easy walking distance to the plaza, Kit Carson's house, and other places that are must-sees. There are several restaurants nearby and we enjoyed all of them. There is free parking across the street.

The apartment is traditional SW (adobe, beamed ceilings, antique furniture, etc.) and was perfect for the two of us. The kitchen was small, but well-equipped. Loved the two gas fireplaces--we didn't need them during the day, but nights were nippy and they heated the place up fast. There are whimsical art pieces everywhere! They ranged from wall sculptures to mobiles.

We had only one issue --two barking dogs next door--I called Melissa and by the time we got home from the restaurant, it was quiet and it continued to be for the duration of our stay. We really appreciated her fast response. We'd love to revisit beautiful New Mexico, and Casa Flora.

Comfortable, Well-Appointed, and Conveniently Located!!!

  • 5 of 5

Melissa's Casa Flora had everything we desired for an enchanting stay in Taos between Christmas and New Years. The apartment is an easy 30 minute drive from the Ski Valley and a mere 30 second stroll from the plaza.

Everything in the apartment was clean and well-tended to. The kitchen was perfect for making a heart breakfast each morning before hitting the slopes. We also loved the coziness the gas stoves provided (don't worry...they are both operated with a wall thermostat--no wood-feeding required!) and the bedding was very comfortable.

We are already looking forward to our next trip and would absolutely stay here again. Thank you for a great re-introduction to Taos, Melissa!
