Woodstock House Rental Photos and Description

Peaceful seclusion: 4 acres in the woods but 1.8 miles from center of Woodstock

The home is secluded and warm but with all the modern amenities. It sits in the middle of four wooded acres but is only 1.8 miles from the center of the town of Woodstock. I bought it in the summer of 2013 and have enjoyed many relaxing weekends away from NYC.

The original interior is full of warm, knotty pine walls, hardwood floors, and a wood-burning fireplace. In the fall of 2013, I converted an adjoining artist studio to a Great Room. It now has cathedral pine ceilings, wood beams, and light pine floors. It also houses a brand new down-filled Room & Board sofa and chaise, a brand new ping-pong table, a gas woodstove, and a 55' television with DirecTV.

The home has two bedrooms, two full bathrooms, and a washer and dryer. The Master bedroom features knotty pine cathedral ceilings, Russell Wright furnishings, a brand new, quality king mattress, and its own private second-floor deck. The second bedroom also features cathedral ceilings, painted knotty pine walls and ceiling, a brand new Queen Bed, and a day-bed that can be converted to a king. The bed mattresses are all high-quality, brand new, and very comfortable.

The kitchen has it all: gas stove, large refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, and all the cooking tools, pots and pans, and dishes you could need. The kitchen leads to a serene screened-in back porch that looks onto the blue stone patio and off into the woods. Four steps up from the patio is a brand new hot tub that looks out over the house.

The front yard is beautifully landscaped with blue stone walkways and steps. About 100 yards to the side of the house -- still on the property -- is a mountain stream.

About David

I live in Brooklyn but spend many peaceful weekends at this unbelievable retreat in the woods.

David purchased this house in 2013

Why David chose Catskills

I looked for two years for just the right place. I wanted the feel of a cabin but the space, light, and amenities of a modern home. I wanted seclusion but proximity to town. This has it all. In the summer of 2013, I converted what was an artist's studio space into a great room with cathedral ceilings, wood beams, a ping-pong table and a gas woodstove. I also built a blue stone patio in back and added a hot tub on the rise of the back hill. Sitting in the tub, you look over the house at the tall, evergreen trees and the open sky.

The interior of the house needed no work -- the previous owner was a weaver and kept the home in meticulous, artistic shape. The knotty pine walls give it great warmth. The picture frame windows make you feel as though you are sitting in a nature painting. And when the mountain stream next to the house is racing, the sound of the water makes you forget entirely about the rest of the world.

What makes this house unique

The home's combination of warmth and seclusion with it's close proximity to town make it unique. You cannot see another house from the property and yet you are only 1.8 miles from the center of town.

We had a wonderful experience at this rental. The home was extremely clean & everything in superb working condition. After a long day in the local towns exploring the hot tub was def the treat at the end of the night we were needing. Looking forward to coming back again in the future. Thank you for allowing us the opportunity.

Perfect Summer Getaway

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent a month at David's mountain house and couldn't have asked for a better retreat from the heat and bustle of the city. We were constantly surprised at how cool it was even on the hottest days without the need for air conditioning. The house is rustic and charming with all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. We especially enjoyed grilling on the patio and eating on the screened back porch. The beds are extremely comfortable, the showers great with ample hot water and the hot tub was a real treat. We rarely heard any noise other than birds, chipmunks and insects and loved being in the woods but only a short drive to town. David was easy to reach by phone or email and quick to answer any questions we had.

My family visited us on a couple of weekends and a great time was had by all - adults, teenagers and canine. The town of Woodstock has much to offer. There is great locally sourced food, a good health food store and bakery and many good restaurants. We did most of our own cooking, but we liked Shindig for burgers, Taco Juan for cheap and tasty Mexican, and Yum Yum for noodles and such.

I highly recommend this property.

Lovely & relaxing!

  • 5 of 5

My 3 friends and I absolutely loved staying at David's home! You have everything you need: a well-stocked kitchen, clean towels and sheets, and ping pong balls for the competitors in us. ;-) The hot tub was a fabulous way to wind down the day, and the newly renovated great room with large TV was perfect for late-night TV watching. Thank you, David--we can't wait to be back!

Beautiful Woodstock getaway

  • 5 of 5

We had a great weekend at David's Woodstock house. The house was as described/pictured, and had everything we needed (even pancake mix, when we realized Saturday morning that we hadn't brought anything for breakfast!) to make our stay comfortable and relaxing. The instructions were clear, and the bed was extremely comfortable. It's a very short drive into the town and to great hiking, and at the end of the day a soak in the hot tub was perfect. We even saw some deer in the evening! And because no one was staying immediately after us, David graciously let us stay past the usual check-out time so we could squeeze a little more vacation out of our weekend. All in all, we highly recommend this home.

Gorgeous magical cabin in the woods

  • 5 of 5

David's place was perfect for a lowkey weekend away with another couple. We were able to comfortably cook and relax in the two living rooms while hiking along the stream alongside the house and relaxing in the hottub. Located on the top of the hill you feel like you are the only house in the woods. Close to the Buddhist Monastery (a tour I highly recommend), hiking, and the town it is the perfect place for a relaxing weekend away. Thank you for having us!
