Kona Palisades Apartment Rental Photos and Description

1 Bedroom, sleeps six, with Kitchenette, Pool and Ocean views

Enjoy your tropical vacation away from the crowds and traffic in our guest suite. Our 2 acres are located about six miles north of Kona Town at 1100 ft elevation where the sunsets are spectacular, the stargazing is magical and the relaxation is complete.

Your accommodations are in our Ohana (guest suite) which is attached to our home but is self-contained with its own private entrance. Bedroom #1 is a studio with king bed that can convert to two twins, a queen size wall bed, a kitchenette and a sliding door leading out to the lanai and pool. The spa style bathroom connects the studio to the second bedroom which features a king bed. We have a barbecue, loungers and a dining table on the lanai for your use.

GROUPS WITH CHILDREN PLEASE NOTE: Sadly, because our pool is unfenced our liability insurance requires that we accommodate groups with children only age five and older.

High speed Wi-fi internet is included, and the flat screen television is equipped with Roku for on-demand viewing using Netflix, Hulu Plus and Amazon Instant Video. We have a large selection of DVD movies as well. We do not have broadcast or cable television channels.

We strive to provide a resort experience for our guests. If your goal is to relax, this is the perfect place for you. If you are celebrating a special occasion, we would be happy to arrange extra in-room amenities.

We have factsheets that provide recommendations for best nearby beaches, day trips, and restaurants. We also can offer advice on best sources for many other tourist and leisure activities on the island, such as helicopter tours, botanical gardens, and ocean adventures.

Lastly, it is never fun having to stop at the grocery store after a long trip. If you contact us a minimum of 1 week in advance of your stay, we can stock your refrigerator with milk, fish, fruit and other basic grocery items; we do not charge extra for this service, you pay only for the actual cost of the items we purchase on your behalf. As our guests, you will have access to our pantry, which stocks sugar, flour, basic canned goods, cooking oil, rice, and other bulk items that you might need.

Hello we are Michelle and Paul. We moved to Hawaii in 2013 after vacationing on the big island for years. Between the two of us we have lived in or visited much of the world (living most of the time in the Pacific Northwest) - but now we call Kailua Kona home. Michelle is a social worker and Paul is computer consultant.

We looked for a place away from the busy and touristy center of Kona. We bought 2 acres about six miles outside of town with a great ocean view at a comfortable elevation of 1100 feet. We are now engaged in the exciting process of building ourselves a coffee farm and planting gardens to grow much of our fruit and vegetables.

Incredible Place & Hosts

Michelle and Paul are so caring and helpful, really great hosts, I don't know how they do it! Every time we needed guidance they had great recommendations, which was really wonderful for someone who'd never been to The Big Island before. And the home away from home they provided was just as everyone says, clean, comfortable, relaxing, and much cooler than in Kona which was really hot! The place is called Hale a Lehua, but if you say it a certain way it sounds like "Hallelujah" which is what you'll be cheering when you arrive.

Great Rental and Excellent Hosts!

We really enjoyed our stay at Hale a Lehua! Michelle and Paul were excellent hosts and offered spot on advice and recommendations to us throughout our short stay! When we made a last minute decision to head to the top of Mauna Kea they graciously lent us flashlights, gloves and even coats! I was really impressed! The pool was nice, the house was nice and Michelle even gave us some avocados she had been given from one of their neighbors! Truly a fantastic experience! If I am on the big Island again I would definitely stay here! Highly Recommended 5 stars for sure!!

Very Memorable Visit to Hawaii

My wife and I spent a week at Hale a Lehua, and had a very enjoyable time. The apartment was very clean and spacious and the owners provided everything that we needed during in our stay. The owner's house is located in a very quiet neighborhood with excellent ocean views, spectacular Hawaiian sunsets, and landscaping that rivals the best hotels. The owners, Paul and Michelle, are excellent hosts and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and welcome. I would highly recommend staying there if you are looking for a home away from home.

Such a pleasant stay! :)

My husband and I and another couple stayed here for part of our vacation. The owners were VERY nice people and worked with us on anything we needed. The beds were very comfortable and the apartment was clean. The owners provided anything we needed from towels to their washer and dryer. I wish we had been able to swim in the pool more! There is a spectacular view and the landscaping is top notch. I loved the pineapples growing right outside of our door. There are plenty of shops and restaurants in the area. Mahalo, Michelle and Paul, for sharing your home and your puppies with us! Oh, the owners also have great suggestions for places to go and things to eat. We took their suggestions and we were not disappointed. I miss Hawaii everyday!

Wonderful stay!

Two couples stayed here for five very enjoyable days. The very comfortable memory foam mattresses were a definite blessing to my old bones and joints! Michelle and Paul were very helpful with any questions and even allowed us to use their grill for our steaks and salmon purchases at the local Safeway. Even though it was hot down at the beach the location up the hill provided a lovely breeze which made the rooms cool at night for sleeping. Would definitely recommend!

When planning a vacation - you want it to be as stress free as possible. Michelle made that happen! Not only was she responsive to any questions I had, she provided information readily about the house and the Big Island. You are essentially renting a wing of the house, and it is extremely comfortable and inviting. Once we landed in Kona, we made our way to a local restaurant for lunch/dinner and then headed to Costco to grocery shop for the week. Once completed, we made it to the house very easily using google maps (not one time were we steered in the wrong direction). We were welcomed graciously and spent the evening unpacking, and then relaxing on the lanai by the pool watching the amazing view of the sunset. It was warm while we were there but the cool breezes at our elevation were a welcome treat. The house itself was very clean and was ready upon our arrival. The home can sleep 6 comfortably. The bathroom is a pass through, and does allow for showering/toileting while someone else can be at the sink/mirror getting ready. The main bedroom is quite large with a king bed that can convert to twins, and the TV room held 2 twin beds that could convert to a king. Adjacent is the kitchenette, but really everything you could want is ready for you. They have an induction cook top (one burner), coffee maker, toaster, toaster oven, microwave, etc. Really everything you need is there to enjoy a meal at "home". We often ate a hearty breakfast before heading out for the day. The pool is very easy to use and clean! The views are amazing! It was so nice to also have access to beach items like towels, mats, basic snorkel gear, etc. Really everything you need is provided and then some!

I loved how peaceful the neighborhood was and appreciated that it was away from the downtown area and the chaos there. We often went to "Town" to the farmers market (12 min drive and parking was never an issue), or for a shave ice, or to the beach but when we were tired it felt very luxurious to go back to our own "home" and away from the busy pace of down town. Looking forward to our next visit.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for this great review. We are thrilled that you had a great time at Hale a Lehua. I do need to clarify one point, however; the king bed in the master bedroom does not convert to two twins. In the "studio" room (where the television and kitchenette are located) the beds can be configured as either two twins or as one king. The studio also includes a queen size wall bed, which brings total maximum occupancy in the suite to six. Again, we are happy that you enjoyed your stay with us and hope to welcome you back to Hale a Lehua on your next trip to Kona.
