This home is magnificent! It is meticulously cared for with attention to every detail. It is perfect for entertaining as they have a gourmet kitchen with every thing you could imagine. The owner of the home was incredibly nice to deal with. This property belongs in Architectural Digest and the time we spent there was like being in a "little slice of heaven"!
As soon as we pulled up at The Retreat vacation home, we knew the best was yet to come. We were greeted by an attractive entry way, where we could see the luxurious swimming pool area, courtyard and the pit. This area became a frequent gathering place for all of the 11 family members.
The Great room is exactly that, another great place to gather. As we walked from room to room, there were many "Wows"; each room had its own beauty.
The sound system provided us with a choice of music in all the common areas, This was relaxing and fun to have available as we enjoyed our days and evenings.
The well-equipped kitchen has to be described as a "Dream Kitchen". It has everything any cook would want. There were dishes, glasses, silverware, pots and pans, baking pans, and utensils of every kind. In the catering area there was an expresso machine, and a coffee maker. There was a herb stand, and there was a herb garden outside. We took advantage of the outdoor grill.
Extra washers and dryers and dishwashers sure were helpful. We appreciated having the linens on the beds and in the bathrooms.
The apartment was good for 2 of our family members.
Several family members enjoyed the bicycles.
Joe was available by telephone to answer any of our questions, and it was our pleasure to meet him.
Our enjoyable week at The Retreat was fantastic; it ended too quickly. As a family, we asked the question, "Should we come here next year?" Without a doubt everyone said " Yes".
Many memories were made here. We look foward to next year.
Give your self a treat and stay at The Retreat. You will not be disappointed.
What a wonderful week spent in this gorgeous home with four friends for a girls getaway. Every detail--the decor, the layout, the linens, the kitchen, etc.-- was impeccable. This vacation home is eminently comfortable, serene and welcoming, and the owner is very is hospitable. Truly luxurious accommodations. I highly recommend!!
This home with it's award-winning design and decor took my breath away! The pictures don't do it justice. The comfort and attention to detail in everything from the beds and designer bedding to the high-end gourmet kitchen is beyond anything I could imagine. There is even a caterer's kitchen behind the kitchen with a second refrigerator and dishwasher so everyone in your group can help cook and clean. The top of the line appliances, cookware, flatware and plenty of dishes, glassware and serving pieces make cooking and entertaining a breeze and such fun! The kitchen boasts an enormous marble island with seating around it for 8, the dining room seats at least 12 and there is also an outdoor table and chairs out back. Each bedroom and bathroom is uniquely decorated and the beds are oh so comfortable with top of the line designer bedding and sheets--I just felt so special and pampered!
The week we were there was unseasonably cold with rain every day, but it really didn't matter because it gave us plenty of time to enjoy the house and we were able to take short excursions to the quant towns nearby for shopping and dining. We took the ferry to Cape May, NJ one day and another day explored the town of Lewes. The gas fireplace and outdoor gas fire pit were very much appreciated during the cool nights and the house also has a collection of games and DVD's.
I can highly recommend this home for anyone who appreciates comfort, beauty, quiet and cleanliness. Great for a group of friends or for a family gathering. The two ensuite downstairs bedrooms are perfect for someone with mobility issues. Some of the things I enjoyed the most: Cooking with my friends in the amazing kitchen, sipping cappuccino outside by the fire pit, sleeping in my luxury bed, walking and shopping along the Rehoboth Beach boardwalk, a great massage at the Bad Hair Day Salon, a day trip by ferry to Cape May, NJ, margaritas at the Purple Parrot, and reconnecting with my girlfriends!
Joe is the perfect host and was available and responsive to any questions that we had whether is was for instructions on how to operate an appliance or for the best place to go for dinner. He provides a booklet with nice details on many of the aspects of his luxury home and I appreciated being able to care for it like it was my own. It was hard to leave after the week was over!
On arriving at this unbelievable rental house, I was overwhelmed with the very attractive decor in every room. The entrance is where the pool and cabana are situated. Next, you will enter through a well lit and grand hallway to the great room with seating for many. At the far end of the large area, there is a fabulous kitchen any chef would dream of using with seating for at least 8 or more at the high marble counter area. My son was the cook the first few evenings and we ate in the dining room under two magnificent chandeliers. To add to the culinary delights was a herb garden and an outside grill and seating. There was an extra kitchen and refrigerator which added more storage space with a kuerig coffee station and a state of the art expresso maker. My grandsons, almost 4 and 2,were entranced by looking at the birds eating from a bird feeder thru a low level back window.
The entire house is bathed in light as there are floor to ceiling glass folding doors in the great room and surrounding side doors around the pool area. We did venture to the boardwalk which is a short mile away to do the playland for the children. Since we were staying in Rehobeth Beach for an event at the country club, we were well situated between the beach, restaurants, and the club. The garage was well equipped with bicycles, etc to ride to the beach. My younger son stayed in the apartment over the garage for more privacy which is well decorated and has an additional separate bedroom off of the living area. There is also a small kitchen and a separate bathroom with shower. I stayed on the first floor in the main bedroom which has a large walkin closet and huge bathroom with a lovely California style shower with two heads. Of course, my California grandsons had to try it out, supervised, because they have the same river rock flooring and felt right at home. In addition, there is a spa and toilet with a privacy door. I loved the picture of the older lady getting her make up applied....struck close to home. An additional bedroom is on the first level so anyone with walking problems can access everything. A grand stairway leads to the 2nd floor and 4 beautiful bedrooms. The stairs are very easy to maneuver because there is a very secure banister and gradual incline as my 4 year old grandson did so well. The nights were spent toasting s'mores at the outside pit..I would recommend this house to any family that wants a fabulous week! Thank you for all the effort to detail,Joe
We had three families staying at The Retreat - 6 adults and 6 kids (all under the age of 5). The property was top notch - as nice as any Ritz Carlton or Four Seasons. There were many extras included - like the new bicycles in the garage for our use. We rented Burley trailers and towed the kids to the beach by bike. The courtyard at the home is actually nicer than the pictures above. It was nice to sit by the gas fire pit in the evening and enjoy music through the media system while sipping wine or Fernet Branca (that's an inside joke). The owner, Joe, was a great communicator and his attention to detail building this home was excellent. If you are considering a vacation to Rehoboth, spend a little more and rent this place. It's worth it.
