1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, Sleeps 4 With Loft, Kitchen, Sitting Room, And Patio
We both grew up in eastern Lancaster County just a mile from Mt. Culmen. Just a generation ago, our families traveled the neighborhood in horse and carriages, farmed the land and cut firewood in the hills. My husband has always been fascinated by local history, so the old stone church-turned-guest house fits our interest. I enjoy trying new recipes to share with our guests for their breakfast. Mt. Culmen is really a labor of love for us. Hearing how others have been refreshed, renewed and re-focused during their stay is what motivates us. Just as the building itself has been restored to a new use, so the cross above the mantle reminds our guests that God can restore broken and burnt-out lives and relationships.
Ronda purchased this Cottage in 2007
Why Ronda chose East Earl
Mt. Culmen overlooks the valley where my husband's family has lived for generations.Since the 1700's when his relative and inventor joseph shirk created the first grain cradle. We had talked for a few years prior about setting up a guest house nearby our home. We even mentioned this specific property as we would drive by it regularly. When it came up for sale after the fire, we purchased it and began a total reconstruction, culminating a year later with an open house. We like things that have a story to them, and this property certainly fits. It has a small adjoining cemetery, presenting some unique challenges to the land acquisition and lot consolidation!
What makes this Cottage unique
Most of all, Mt. Culmen provides a peaceful place of respite both to our guests and to us while we are maintaining it.

Could not have asked for a better place to stay
Unique, clean, cozy, historical, comfortable... Beautiful area, easy check in.
Ronda was great to work with and had a continental breakfast waiting in fridge. This was such a nice gesture. We absolutely adored this little church cottage in the Amish countryside. Thank you! We will be back!
The Most Beautiful Cottage We Have Ever Stayed In!
We celebrated our 46th wedding anniversary here! This cottage is beautiful, peaceful, relaxing and has such a touching, spiritual history. The owners, Rhonda and Keith are special people, even though we didn't meet them. Rhonda made us a delicious breakfast to have on Sunday morning and that was so nice! Sitting outside on the patio was so wonderful to just listen to the birds, see the butterflies and the rabbits. If you want to stay in a beautiful, quaint cottage, then you should stay here! You will love this cottage and the fact that it was a church built there in 1862 made it even more special. The workmanship of the house is so beautiful and if we could live in this house, it would be a dream come true! My husband and I will definitely be going back there often and stay more than one night! We love it!!! You will too!!!!
Great place to stay
Home is beautiful and decorated nicely. Very clean. comfortable and private. Had breakfast sandwiches, oranges, blueberries and granola for breakfast. Hosts were very friendly and even called ahead to let us know where everything was. We would definitely stay there again.
Peace, Relaxation, and Tranquility
This is an exceptional property that exceeded all of our expectations. It is even more gorgeous than the photos. You will be stunned by the beauty as you walk in the door! If we could, we would give it 10 or 20 stars! That is how much we enjoyed our stay at the Mt. Culmen Guest House. The renovations to this historic church are amazing, and the attention to detail is incredible. Every inch of the house is finished to perfection. In addition to the comfort of the house, Ronda left delicious and abundant breakfast meals in the fridge. We have already recommended this property to family and friends. The next time we take a trip to this area, we will definitely stay here again. If you rent this property, we guarantee you will love it!
A small piece of heaven.

We have stayed here twice and we will be back.
Thank you for sharing this incredible home.
A very special place
Keith and Rhonda did an amazing,
miraculous job of transforming this burnt down church into a beautiful, one-of-a- kind guest house. A truly religious experience! We can’t wait to come back. The best nights sleep I had in a long time! Will stay longer next time.
