About the property

2 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, loft with sleeper sofa; Sleeps 5-6

Perched near the peak of Screamer Mountain, this Charming Cabin is perfect for a family or small group with no more than 4-5 adults or family/group of up to 6 that includes children who would be comfortable sleeping together on the sleeper sofa in the loft. On the main level you will find the kitchen, living area with seating for four, gas log fireplace and TV, bedroom with two twin beds, full bath with tub/shower, and laundry closet. Sliding glass doors in the living area and main level bedroom offer mountain views and access to the large screened porch where you can relax on the porch swing, rocking chairs (2), and enjoy your meals at the table with seating for four.

Upstairs is a loft with a sleeper sofa, bedroom with queen-sized bed, and full private bathroom (large shower, no tub). A small uncovered balcony is accessed from the loft. The upper level areas also offer mountain views. There is a large deck that wraps around the cabin from the front door to the screened porch.

Although not wheelchair accessible, with only two steps up from the paved driveway to the main level and a main level bedroom/bathroom, visitors with some mobility impairment have enjoyed staying at our cabin.

The road leading to the cabin is paved the entire way, the driveway is fairly level and paved as well. There is ample parking for 2-3 cars and an area where a small boat or jet skis may be parked during your stay.

About Denise Eads

Owner lives and works in Athens, GA area.

Denise Eads purchased this cabin in 2010

Why Denise Eads chose Clayton

The setting on the mountain affords wonderful views, seaonal views of the town of Clayton.. The cabin is very convenient to town, restaurants, activities, and a wonderful Ingles grocery store. We have enjoyed having the cabin for a few years now, it is a great place to just relax and enjoy the sounds of nature from the screened porch, gather to get re-connected with friends and family, and a great home base from which to explore other areas of N. GA, or venture into NC or SC. We have enjoyed whitewater rafting, hiking, shopping, sight seeing, boating on Lake Rabun (Lake Burton is also a close option for boating), local restaurants, wineries.

What makes this cabin unique

The screened porch is everyone's favorite! It is our favorite place to start the day and end the day. The setting among trees gives you the feel of being in a big tree house. A friend commented 'this is great, we are sitting in the trees looking down on the squirrels!'

The location has the feel of being "away from it all" with the convenience of being 10 minutes or less from the town of Clayton.

Lovely, cozy cabin with a GREAT view from the screened deck...everything needed for a great visit!

  • 5 of 5

This is the 3rd year that a friend and I have scheduled a "girls getaway" at this lovely mountain home - Denise has a great place and has everything in place for her guests. We enjoyed reading and artistic (friend is an artist) time as well as morning walks on "Screamer" Drive. Other activities in the area that we had time for included hiking, visiting waterfalls and antique shops, horseback riding (many more that we - unfortunately - didn't have the time to include!) We were just a bit earlier this year, so missed the canoe opportunities on Burton Lake that we enjoyed on previous visits - maybe next year!!

Thanks, Denise, for once again sharing your beautiful home!!!!

The cabin was perfect for our quick little getaway. The cabin was nicely stocked with everything you could possibly need. It was very clean and decorated nicely. The screened porch was my favorite!

Sweet!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our short stay. It was unfortunate though that we were attempting to escape a Florida hurricane only to have the darn thing follow our path. We are looking forward to a more relaxed return to this sweet cozy cabin nestled on the side of Screamer Mountain, nicely stocked with all the comforts of home!

Be as busy as you want to be

We spent two relaxing weeks at Denise's Charming Cabin. We spent a large part of it on the screened deck overlooking the mountains. We particularly liked when it got dark and we could see the cross light up on the mountain across from us.

The cabin was particularly well stocked. This is the third time we have stayed in a cabin and this one was the best stocked one by far. And it was immaculately clean.

We loved being up in the mountains, but close enough to a small town with lots of great restaurants, boutiques, and art galleries. Denise even left an Ingles card so we could buy our groceries at a discount.

There is so much to do within just a few miles of the cabin, but we tried to get back to the cabin before it got too dark. The drive up the mountain is not for the faint of heart.

Denise left a binder full of menus, brochures, and tips for staying in the cabin. She thought of everything and returned our calls and texts on a timely basis.

We recommend staying at the Charming Cottage for anyone looking for a mountain experience.

The property was wonderful. Denise keeps the cabin so nicely decorated and clean. It had all we neede

We had a wonderful time. The owner gave us many ideas and places to visit and eat at. Clayton is close to many nearby towns. We went white water rafting in Long Creek with Wild water adventures, and it was a 20 min drive. We hiked Blackstone Mountain. We went horseback riding in Dillard at the Dillard house stables. We also went to Talkulah Gorge very close by. Had a wonderful time with our family and 2 teens. The only slight negative is the drive up the mountain to get to the cabin. Very steep and basically one lane road and hard to see what is coming at you. But besides that all was perfect. There is a great grocery store 5 min from cabin that has everything .

This cabin is everything you could ask for!! Went up for a girls weekend with whitewater rafting and hiking. We immensely enjoyed our time in the area and in the cabin. The views from the screened porch are amazing and this cabin is so well appointed and comfortable. The location is great as well. My friends and I look forward to coming back to the area soon and hope this cabin is available.
