A little Gem in Bellaire....The perfect home base for your northern Michigan vacation! This newly updated home is located directly across from beautiful Lake Bellaire public access, with a sandy bottom for your swimming enjoyment. The quaint town of Bellaire is about an eight minute drive, which features several great restaurants and shops. Rent a boat, or use one of the many public launching locations in the “Chain of Lakes” to launch your own! Our home is an easy drive to Traverse City (50 minutes), Charlevoix (45 minutes), and Petoskey (1 hour). If you enjoy golfing, there are several courses to choose from; The Chief and The Legend at Shanty Creek, The Bear at Grand Traverse Resort, and Hawk’s Eye, just to name a few. For gambling fans, the Turtle Creek Casino in Williamsburg is about a 30 minute drive from our home. Spend the day at Barnes Park Beach on Lake Michigan, a twenty minute drive from the cottage, or simply relax at the Cottage Drive Park, a 3 minute walk, which features a small sandy beach, picnic tables, and charcoal grills. One of the most beautiful lakes in the world, Torch Lake, is a short five minute drive from our home. Check out the beautiful blue water, and feel free to take a dip at the closest public access, or at the beach in Eastport! There are so many options to explore in the area!
We rented this Bellaire cottage for a month in June 2016. The pictures are spot on and the house is extremely clean and updated. The owners were so easy to work with and always responsive to any questions. Its a very quiet and peaceful area with a short car ride to many activities and places to visit. I highly recommend this rental for a couple or small family. We loved it!
This cottage is a delightful place to stay. It's up to date, clean, and comfortable.
Everything you need is here, including laundry detergent which we really appreciated.
There was a severe storm that came through while we were there and we did not lose power. That was a great surprise! We loved looking at the lake each morning and hearing the wonderful sounds of nature each night. The cottage is nicely located near the town of Bellaire with Short's Brewery being our favorite hotspot as well as Mrs. Pete's for breakfast. We also attended Harbor Days in Elk Rapids, browsed Charlevoix and Alden.
This cottage was perfect for our family of four and we hope to return next year.
From the moment we walked in the cottage we were smitten. Very tastefully remodeled on the inside. Love the colors and furnishings. We have been sleeping each night with the windows open and it's so comfortable. The beds are exceptionally comfortable too. All amenities are functional and we appreciate the good wifi and cable tv. Great patio out back and fire pit too. It's enjoyable to sit on the front porch and look at the lake across the street. There are two places close-by to access Lake Bellaire for swimming. Each day we notice something else we love about this cottage. Everything is nicely done on the inside. Love the ceiling detail! There is plenty of room in the driveway for our large truck and boat trailer. Very kind owners, easy to work with. A very comfortable cottage. Would definitely return.
This cottage was perfect for our family of four! Just as pictured, the cottage is updated, clean and cozy. There were no surprises on arrival, and we walked into just what Ron and Ann promised with their cottage description. Our boys loved to play around the cottage property and the lake (as mentioned by other renters) is perfect for young children! We took many day trips to Traverse City and Petoskey, as well as the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park. Also, nearby Grass Lake nature area has beautiful hiking paths and trails and a small nature educational center.
The cottage had all the comforts of home! We really enjoyed the large "mudroom" area where the washer and dryer are housed as we could enter and leave our shoes and beach towels without bringing any sand/dirt in the house!! Also, the garage was great as we were able to store our bikes when we weren't using them, as well as our coolers. (This was a huge bonus for us as we have rented cottages before with no storage area!)
We are thankful to have spent the week in this cottage!
June 28 - July 6
If you're looking for a peaceful getaway, with fun things to do in every direction, look no further.
We were so pleased with our first experience renting this property through VRBO. Ann & Ron's cottage was just as advertised. You get exactly what the pictures show. Quaint, yet spacious, newly decorated cottage with everything you need for an extended stay with family. They even have a popcorn popper! That was a big surprise for us.
Rainy day...never fear. They have plenty of games, TV and internet access to keep you entertained for hours.
All you need to bring are cloths, smiles and a fun loving attitude. Be ready to relax.
The warm, crystal-clear water of Lake Bellaire was a big plus. Both Lake Michigan and nearby Torch Lake were 50 degrees. Ouch!
Two very close public access's to the lake (one shady location right across the street, and one with a small beach and sunny park 300 ft up the road) made swimming and floating in tubes easy at a moments notice. The sandy bottom is much like a zero depth pool. The water gradually drops off steadily to waist deep about 100 feet from shore, making it perfect for family's with small children.
Boats/jet skis can be delivered for you from many local marinas directly to the lake. Kayaks and canoes can be rented too.
Bellaire is a cute little town just minutes away with great food and drinks, and friendly service without the big, rowdy crowds. They even have a movie theatre.
Make sure to stop in at Ruthies for one of their ice-cream creation. A single scoop is enough for even the biggest appetites. Try the fried Oreos!!!!!
Local groceries are available in both Rapid City and Bellaire. Make sure to pick up some burgers or steaks to cook out on the new gas-grill at the cottage. Stop at the cottage first. They have quite a few staples already stocked on the shelves and in the fridge.
Traverse City, Mackinaw, Petosky, Charlevoix, wineries, Sleeping Bear State Park are all easy drives if you want some adventure and site-seeing. If you're an art lover, go to the "Commons" in TC. You won't be disappointed.
We plan on making a trip up here in the fall. I'd bet the colors are magnificent.
We would recommend this cottage to anyone of any age.
We know you'll enjoy it as much as we did.
We rented this cottage over July 4th, 2013 and can't wait to return next summer. The cottage was exceptionally clean and freshly appointed. The surrounding heavily wooded property left no doubt that you were in Northern Michigan. Lake Bellaire was clean and warm with long wade to get to deep water. Although we are a retired couple, we remarked at how ideal the swimming would be for parents with young children. The town of Bellaire and the surrounding area has numerous restaurants with better than average food. We highly recommend this cottage.
Daily and weekly ski boat, pontoon, and jet ski rentals are available at two local marinas (Lake Bellaire or Clam Lake/Torch Lake) within 2 miles of our property.
Take a day trip to the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes (56 miles), recently voted the 'Most Beautiful Place in America' by ABC's Good Morning America.
Spend a day visiting one of the many local wineries located on Old Mission Point Peninsula and Lenlanau Peninsula near Traverse City (45 miles)
Other favorite local day trips include; Mackinac City and Mackinac Island (90 minute drive), Petoskey (50 miles) Charlevoix (32 miles), Harbor Springs (60 miles) and Traverse City (32 miles).
