Overview

About the property

4 Bedroom 6 1/2 Bath Private Hawaiian Resort 7th night free**

From its envious position at a cool elevation of 1000 feet on the slopes of Mount Hualalai, to its 270 degree panoramic views of Keauhou Bay and miles of the Kona coastline, this secluded luxury estate on 5 fenced and gated acres is surrounded by lush, tropical foliage. It has been said that this architecturally significant residence boasts the most amazing views available on the Big Island. The residence was also featured on the cover of Island Home magazine. Privacy and security are assured from the moment you enter the gate and proceed down the sweeping, palm tree lined drive to the main residence.

Upon entry to Hale Wailele you are greeted by magnificent koi ponds and the sound of waterfalls in your private courtyard.

MAIN HOUSE LIVING AREA: The Great Room features 18 foot vaulted ceilings and an open floor plan that encompasses a gourmet kitchen and dining/living areas. The interiors have been professionally designed and offer a luxurious yet comfortable respite. Floor to ceiling pocket doors open onto the lanais to bring the outdoors in. The gourmet kitchen will be the envy of any chef and is equipped to host parties large or small. The kitchen features a large island and a handy breakfast bar where guests can gather and chat with the chef of the party. Adjacent to the kitchen is an intimate media room and an open air tropical bar perfect for pre-dinner cocktails.

OUTDOOR LIVING AREA: Over 2000 square feet of Honed Beaumaniere French Limestone floors (imported from France by the original owners) flow seamlessly around the home. Both covered and open air patios feature plush chaise lounges and resort style furnishings surrounding the custom infinity edge pool and spa. This area is perfect for enjoying the beautiful Kona sunsets while sipping a tropical cocktail. The fun does not end after the sun sets as the area magically comes to life with the lighting of the tiki torches. Arrange your own private Luau complete with Hula lessons and fire dancers. Ideal location for intimate weddings.

SUITES OF THE HOUSE: The house is comprised of 3 separate pavilions which are connected via Honed Beaumaniere French Limestone walkways. The King Master Suite with his and her bathrooms is housed independently in pavilion 1. Pavilion 2 houses the main living area as well as two additional King bedded suites. Pavilion 3 houses the 4th King bedded suite (aka Ohana).

All of the suites are equipped with private bathrooms, televisions as well as their own outdoor lounge areas. It is rare to find a vacation rental where up to 4 couples can retreat to their own private spaces.

There is no need for air conditioning in this home as the near constant trade winds fan a delightful gentle breeze over the property. If you are looking for absolute luxury in a breathtaking setting than this Hawaiian vacation rental has it all. You will never tire of gazing at the magnificent views and swaying palm trees while enjoying the cool tropical breeze.

If you can tear yourself away from this property the Kona coastline is waiting to be explored.

Why Karen Hill chose Keauhou

The architect who designed this house is known as the "Frank Lloyd Wright" of Hawaii. His designs all fit seamlessly into the landscape as does Hale Wailele and its beautiful separation of areas allowing for privacy and yet community when desired. The dramatic entrance, sweeping views, and a his and her bathroom in the master sealed the deal (as did the Realtor's Mai Tai's!)

What makes this estate unique

On 5 acres so it feels secluded yet so close to everything

4 bedrooms all with separate outside areas for privacy and seclusion

Incredible sweeping views of the Kona Coastline

Amazing Sunsets

Notes:
Hale Wailele is home to a number of little green Geckos very similar to the “Geico Insurance Gecko” seen in TV commercials. These Hawaiian Geckos, harmless to humans, are very good at hunting and controlling insects and do a lot less talking than their “Gieco” counter-parts with the British accent. A little known fact is that this Hawaiian Gecko was the alternate pick for Hawaii State mascot for 3 consecutive years. Lots of guests, especially kids, find these little guys really cute with their little suction cups for toes on their feet. Hale Wailele uses a nationally well known professional pest control service that specifically treats for Mosquitoes, on regular basis, which are so common in the tropics. Additionally Hale Wailele provides some personal insect repellent for an added layer of protection if guests so desire, as it is very difficult to control these “Mozzies” (as we call them), 100%. Some guests have a personal preference of insect repellent that they may choose to use.

Perfect wedding week

  • 5 of 5

My family recently stayed at Hale Wailele for my wedding, and I can't imagine a more perfect venue for the wedding or a better place to stay for the week! The photos do not do it justice, it is an incredible property. The owner & caretakers are amazing, they answer questions quickly while you are making your arrangements and once you arrive go out of their way to make sure you have a wonderful week. I would absolutely recommend Hale Wailele to anyone and everyone, and we definitely plan on going back!

Paradise

  • 5 of 5

I can not thank you enough for sharing this beautiful house. My family and friends were blown away by the view, the furnishings, and the loving care given by the Property Managers, Heather and Steve. My grandchildren named every koi, made fairy gardens and houses under the palm trees, swam everyday in the pool and cried as left for the airport. The memories we made here will be treasured for years to come. This is an amazing place. Thank you!

If you can't decompress & leave your stress behind here, you never will. The views are breathtaking.

  • 5 of 5

We had a three generation stay. The kids enjoyed feeding the koi fish as much as the pool & hot tub. There was plenty of space for everyone to spread out & have "alone time" when needed. The kitchen lacks for nothing--including every spice imaginable. The location is close to great golf & snorkeling as well as the coffee & chocolate factories for tours. The only bad thing about the visit is we had to go home!

Gorgeous and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

Hale Wailele is absolutely one of the best VRBOs we’ve stayed in. Of course the view is gorgeous and the home is exquisite, but one of the things that made it so perfect was the attention to “live in details.” The kitchen was VERY thoroughly appointed. Steve and Heather (property managers) made sure that everything we needed was available and perfect. Our 4-couple group was comfortable and relaxed whether we were out in the pool, making drinks in the outdoor bar or relaxing in our rooms. We will certainly be back. Note: if your travels require reliable Internet, you should bring a hot spot in case the local net is not functioning correctly. It did have a tendency to flap a bit. Thanks again, Karen, Heather and Steve!

Absolutely stunning property!!

  • 5 of 5

We were attracted to the beautiful photography on the website, and as such had high expectations. Those expectations were exceeded by the reality of this incredible home and its stunning surroundings . Each evening, we were treated to a unique and very different sunset experience, all them amazing. The hospitality provided by Steve and Heather was the icing on the cake as we were warmly welcomed upon our arrival. The Hawaiian music enveloped us as we received our initial tour. The kitchen was equipped with absolutely everything our family of 7 needed or wanted, and them some.

The infinity edge pool and hot tub made it hard to leave, which we rarely did.

Ours was a 6 Star experience and we cannot wait to return. Thank you Karen, Heather and Steve ever so much!!

Absolute paradise-- better than the photos. Better than anything you could imagine.

  • 5 of 5

We had the best wedding, best pre-wedding honeymoon, and quite simply the best time of our lives here at Hale Wailele. When we found this home online, we thought it was so beautiful and actually switched our initial wedding destination of Kauai-- to be on the Big Island!! We looked at basically every single rental estate home on the islands, and realized this was going to be the most cost effective, and the most stunning- AND the most wedding friendly. Many other venues had a giant list of things they wouldn't permit, and excessive wedding fees. So, even though we had NEVER even been to the Big Island- we moved forward with planning our wedding here at Hale Wailele! From the moment we checked in- greeted with a cheese platter and champagne!- Steve and Heather were so gracious and welcoming. They explained that the home has "mana"-- and you can feel the magical Hawaiian power that the grounds have. We spent 5 days here and had a wedding with 50 of our loved ones. Everyone was from LA or different parts of the world- and every single person was so impressed by the space. From the pool-- which is bigger than most hotel pools by the way-- to the lovely rooms, well stocked kitchen, ample parking--- everything was perfect. I can't emphasize enough how wonderful Hale Wailele made our wedding. So much so- that it rained during our reception-- we weren't able to use the beautiful farm tables and place settings for our 50 guests-- because it was pouring-- but there was ample patio space to move the chairs under cover, and our DJ kept playing-- and despite the rain, it was still the best wedding ever. Thank you so much to Karen for creating this home and allowing us to celebrate here, and to Heather and Steve for being such gracious hosts. I could go on and on. But really, we hope to come back here every year. XO
