Our Mission Statement:
To provide our guests with a rejuvenating retreat experience with emphasis on privacy, comfort and cleanliness.
We have been living in Gibsons since 2003 and love the laid back lifestyle on the Coast. We have a passion for great food and wine, travel and boating.
Edda and Heiko Paulsen purchased this apartment in 2003
We bought our home on first viewing. We have been boating in this area for many years and our dream has always been to live here. The opportunity knocked and we jumped! One look out the window is all it took; the lush private property and the panoramic water views seduced us. Living here on the coast has changed our lives.
Privacy, peace and tranquility.
Fantastic place to stay. Quiet, private, amazing view, comfortable and everything you need and more. Thank you for providing such a great place. Highly recommended!
Edda and Heiko went out of their way to make us feel welcome and ensure we had everything we needed - and the suite already had everything we needed!
The suite was as advertised and exceeded our expectations, especially in the decor. Although it was attached to their hom, the suite and property felt, and was, entirely our own during our stay. Thanks, we will be back!!
We stayed for 3 days @ the suite. Edda & Heiko have provided a very private, comfortable suite. The view is beautiful and is in a nice garden setting. They have thought of all the things you could possibly need for your stay. After a day of sightseeing in the area, being able to have a relaxing hot tub with a great view is the icing on the cake!! A close drive to gower point rd to watch a beautiful sunset will be a special memory. I am sure we will come to stay again.

My stay at Edda and Heiko's Suite on Velvet was exactly what I hoped for. A quiet and relaxing weekend
away from the city. I was pleasantly surprised that the suite was even nicer than it appeared in the photos.
The suite is located just a short distance from Gibsons Landing and some great hiking trails.
The sunset views were gorgeous. The hosts are lovely and I would highly recommend this place.
Edda and Heiko's Suite on Velvet was one of the absolute highlights of our trip to BC. Set within their beautifully landscaped backyard with a gorgeous view of ocean and the mountains of Vancouver island, the self-contained unit was charming, immaculate and expertly designed both in terms of exquisite decor (ie. Heiko's driftwood wine rack) and practical use of space (ie. compact freezer and fridge). Both the inside of the unit and the property had an amazing zen-like quality that made our stay both relaxing and invigorating. Special mention to the hot tub as it was the most beautiful imaginable in a gazebo-like setting with gorgeous views and romantic candles in lanterns for evening use. Edda and Heiko are as fantastic as their unit and property. They are wonderfully hospitable people who are there to greet you upon arrival and provide you with a detailed tour to make sure that your visit is perfect. And it was perfection for us! They are the consummate hosts who have put so much love and care into this extraordinary rental property. After our two days here, we went on to stay at the West Coast Wilderness Lodge up the coast. It was okay, but we missed Edda and Heiko's and, in retrospect, would have preferred spending two extra days here instead of the lodge. Even though the lodge was our 'big splurge' costing four times as much, we preferred the idyllic charm and gracious hospitality of Heiko and Edda's Suite on Velvet. We very much hope to one day come back to this extraordinary place.
Edda and Heiko greeted me at my car with big smiles and hugs and showed me the suite. It is absolutely gorgeous and has everything you need, and is super clean. The view from the beautifully landscaped yard is breathtaking.
I had a hot tub at sunset and it is a memory I will remember forever.
The suite is about a 10 min cab ride at best from Gibsons Landing. I highly recommend this place as the hosts are wonderful and the suite is incredible. I could live there!!!
Located a mere 40-minute ferry ride from Horseshoe Bay, Gibsons is the ultimate coastal getaway. The town is nestled between old-growth forest and rugged coastline and features a world-class harbor, a marina, eclectic art galleries showcasing the coast’s incredible talent, family-owned restaurants serving up fresh seafood and other delicious meals, and outstanding specialty shops.
And of course many will know that Gibsons was home to The Beachcombers, the longest-running CBC television show, which still has fans around the world. Molly's Reach, the restaurant prominently featured in the show, still serves up fish ‘n chips to the thousands of visitors whose trip to Canada would be incomplete without visiting this local landmark.
Are you a boater? Gibsons is the gateway to Desolation Sound Marine Park and the Gulf Islands. Keats Island and Plumper Cove Marine Park are a mere one-kilometer boat ride from the Gibsons marina. Don’t be surprised if you see seals, whales, dolphins, eagles, on your journey. And bring crab traps if you’ve got them. Nothing beats a freshly harvested Dungeness crab feast!
Fresh air, unspoiled nature—and the world’s most delicious water! Gibsons has won awards for the 'best tasting municipal water in the world' in international competitions. Very few municipalities have water clean enough that it can run untreated into a glass.
