Our Mission Statement:
To provide our guests with a rejuvenating retreat experience with emphasis on privacy, comfort and cleanliness.
We have been living in Gibsons since 2003 and love the laid back lifestyle on the Coast. We have a passion for great food and wine, travel and boating.
Edda and Heiko Paulsen purchased this house in 2003
We bought our home on first viewing. We have been boating in this area for many years and our dream has always been to live here. The opportunity knocked and we jumped! One look out the window is all it took; the lush private property and the panoramic water views seduced us. Living here on the coast has changed our lives.
Privacy, peace and tranquility.
What a lovely, lovely place. This was our first trip to Canada and our first time to use VRBO. The reviews below were very accurate and the photos don't do this location justice.
The suite is small but very well appointed with full kitchen amenities, books, games, movies, etc. The hot tub overlooking the ocean is very relaxing and a nice way to end your day.
Two very small things to consider - there is no AC in the unit and no bathtub. We are from Texas but found the temperature to be very pleasant without AC.
Edda & Heiko are wonderful hosts and left surprises for us while we were there. EXCELLENT customer service.
Our trip was with friends from all over North America and they all agreed we had the best place to stay. Book the Suite on Velvet. You won't be disappointed!
This was our second stay at The Suite and just as lovely as the first. Perfect hosts, perfect location, the suite is spotless and lacks nothing.
Thank you Edda and Heiko, and we will see you again soon!
Right from the start, the warm reception from Edda and Heiko confirmed that this was the right choice for our vacation stay. The Suite is beautifully finished and well appointed with all of the comforts one would expect of a 5 star resort. The beautifully maintained gardens and the luxurious hot tub made for a wonderful stay on the Sunshine Coast. The well selected wines made available for a modest fee was an unexpected touch. The view of the ocean and the privacy afforded allows for a very relaxed stress free time in beautiful surroundings. We would highly recommend Suite of Velvet, and will look forward to returning.
An excellent luxurious place to stay which has been created about 2 years ago. It was a pleasure that everything in the suite was new. There were many different sitting arrangements and we made use of them all. The garden is very well maintained and the the view of the ocean is a delight. Great attention to details. We would highly recommend this stay.

If you are looking for a perfect get away...this is the place.
Edda and Heiko make you feel so welcome and have thought of every thing that you could want or need during your stay. The most beautiful romantic setting.
We will definitely be back.

From the moment I found Velvet on suite I knew it was the perfect place to end our 2 week holiday in Canada/Vancouver. I had no intentions of going to Gibson's until I found Heiko & Edda's paradise. Both Heiko & Edda are great at communication and Heiko offered to pick us up from the ferry terminal and also gave me lots of information on the BC Ferries which was a great help.
We arrived earlier then scheduled and Heiko happily collected us from a lovely cafe called Molly's Reach (which we later found out was the set for the old series Beachcombers). Heiko kindly took us to the Supermarket so we could get some basic supplies, and he also took us to the beach to give us an idea of how to get there. Heiko was very easy to talk too, sadly we didn't get to meet Edda as she was working when we arrived. (We may not of met Edda, but she was only a message away, and was great at replying quickly) When we arrived at Suite On Velvet we were blown away by everything, from Heiko's creativity and creating wonderful art from driftwood and stones he had found at the beach, which was all placed wonderfully around the beautiful Suite. Everything in the Suite has been well thought out. We thoroughly enjoyed playing Scrabble and Frustration in the evenings after lazying around in the lovely, big and warm hot tub, my husband and I were constantly in it both during the day and in the evening. It really was perfect, the view, the out door lights and the garden. If we could live there forever we really would. As a whole, our stay was a big fat juicy 10/10!
There is not one thing we could fault, and we loved the bottle/book wooden unit with a wine list and selected wines on it - We drank the Prosecco!
I could write about Suite on Velvet for hours but I would only be writing the exact same as every other great review on here.
Thank you so much Heiko and Edda for our wonderful stay, we ended our holiday perfectly and couldn't have hoped for it to be any better than what it was.
We will visit your side of the world again, and come and stay.

Located a mere 40-minute ferry ride from Horseshoe Bay, Gibsons is the ultimate coastal getaway. The town is nestled between old-growth forest and rugged coastline and features a world-class harbor, a marina, eclectic art galleries showcasing the coast’s incredible talent, family-owned restaurants serving up fresh seafood and other delicious meals, and outstanding specialty shops.
And of course many will know that Gibsons was home to The Beachcombers, the longest-running CBC television show, which still has fans around the world. Molly's Reach, the restaurant prominently featured in the show, still serves up fish ‘n chips to the thousands of visitors whose trip to Canada would be incomplete without visiting this local landmark.
Are you a boater? Gibsons is the gateway to Desolation Sound Marine Park and the Gulf Islands. Keats Island and Plumper Cove Marine Park are a mere one-kilometer boat ride from the Gibsons marina. Don’t be surprised if you see seals, whales, dolphins, eagles, on your journey. And bring crab traps if you’ve got them. Nothing beats a freshly harvested Dungeness crab feast!
Fresh air, unspoiled nature—and the world’s most delicious water! Gibsons has won awards for the 'best tasting municipal water in the world' in international competitions. Very few municipalities have water clean enough that it can run untreated into a glass.
