*** Newly remodeled historic property in the heart of Laurel Park, SARASOTA'S ONLY TRUE WALK-TO-DOWNTOWN NEIGHBORHOOD ***
*** Now accepting reservations for 2016-2017 High Season! ***
Three Palms Bungalow (named for the three 75 foot Washingtonia palms in front) is an immaculately restored and updated 1925 wood bungalow in Laurel Park, one of Sarasota's oldest, most charming, and best located residential neighborhoods.
Step out the front door and you can WALK...not drive...in less than 10 minutes to ALL of the following: Downtown Main Street, Sarasota Bayfront Park and Marina Jacks (with available kayak, paddleboat, aqua cycle, sailboat, powerboat, and waverunner rentals), Burns Court Historic District (only 1 block away), dozens of restaurants, the Saturday downtown farmer's market, shopping, art galleries, spas and salons, the symphony, the opera, the downtown public library, the 12 court Payne Park tennis center, two movie theaters, Selby Botanical Gardens, Towles Court art district, Whole Foods Market, Starbucks, and much more. A little farther away, but still reachable by bike or a 10 minute drive are the shops and restaurants of St. Armand's Circle (3 miles) and the white quartz sands and clear blue waters of Lido Beach (3.5 miles) and Siesta Key Beach (7 miles). ***Note that Siesta Key was voted the #1 beach in the entire USA in 2011. It is only a 10-15 minute drive away and the parking is free!
The house retains all of its 1925 charm, but with many of today's modern amenities. It is a 982 square foot two bedroom/one bath wood bungalow, with 15 foot vaulted ceiling in the large living room. The kitchen has brand new Caesarstone countertops, all new appliances, a two seat countertop breakfast bar, and round four seat dining table surrounded by large sun filled windows. The all new spa inspired bathroom features subway tiled floors and walls and an all glass walk-in shower. Both bedrooms have queen size beds with new plush mattresses, nightstands, and reading chairs. The master bedroom includes french doors that open up to the private fenced in back yard with new 350 square foot brick paver patio. Other amenities include large screen HDTV with DVR and DVD player, wireless high speed internet, full size washer and dryer, and gas grill.
7 night/8 day minimum.
We are a couple who reside in Northern Virginia, just outside of Washington DC.
Lisa and J.D. Gordman purchased this bungalow in 2011
We chose our Sarasota,FL property for it's 'walkability' to everything: Within 5 -10 minutes you can walk to all of the Main Street shops and restaurants, the Farmer's Market, the Bay Front, Selby Gardens, the Theatre/Opera, and Historic Burns Square.
The famous Siesta Key Beach is just a short 10 minute drive! Rated #1 BEACH in the United States! The sand is PURE white and the water is CRYSTAL CLEAR!
'Walkability' to everything!!!!!
SIESTA KEY BEACH:
TRULY the BEST BEACH we have ever seen in the United States!
Theatre, Arts and Opera! Too Many restaraunts to mention
Neat, clean and well stocked with all the ammenities.
Fantastic location with excellent parking.
We stayed one week and reserved another week for 2017 before we had even gotten back home. The bungalow is beautifully decorated, spacious with an impeccably outfitted kitchen. The washer and dryer were a great plus. The location is either an easy walk or quick drive to everything: Owens' Fish Camp, Nancy's BBQ, Asopo Rep. Theater, Whole Foods, and all the beaches. I only wish we had the time to spend two weeks - maybe in 2018!
“Magical” is the word that comes to mind as we sit down to write this review, but to avoid hyperbole we’ll go with “wonderful.” We stayed two weeks, delighted in the bungalow itself, its location, and thoughtfulness of the owners. Bungalow: recently and lovingly renovated inside and out, surprisingly large living room, each bedroom with queen bed, chair and good reading lamp (we used one BR as a dressing room and study), spacious private patio, great gas grill, well kept grounds. Kitchen and bath are up to date. Good and convenient washer and dryer. We found the cottage perfect for the two of us. Location: quiet street, 5 minutes pleasant, walk on shady streets to Burns Court Cinema and restaurants, about 12 minutes walk to (notable) Indigenous Restaurant, Main Street, Selby Botanical Gardens, and Payne Park Tennis Center. In short, this is a great location for walking. If you take an hour’s random walk, and read a poster or two, you will undoubtedly discover another concert, play, festival, shop, tiny park, or bistro – perhaps with Cuban music – as we did at Burns Court Café on Tuesday evenings (book well ahead). Thoughtfulness: bathroom cabinet filled to meet variety of unexpected needs, Bose Bluetooth speaker, supplies provided for dishwasher and laundry, quality knife set, plastic wrap and cooking staples, user-friendly keyless door lock, and much more. Sure, no one of these touches is individually remarkable, but together with the charm of the bungalow itself, they created a cumulative effect on us -- a sense of warm welcome, caring, and deep hospitality. In communicating with the owners, we found they match these qualities, and are also capable and friendly. We booked three weeks for next year.
We decided to celebrate Christmas away from home and could not have found a better place to do so. From the first point of contact with the owners to our departure, this was a perfect vacation. The detailed check in instructions were appreciated. There were no uncertainties about anything. We were delighted upon our entry to the bungalow with the bright decor, the cleanliness, the spacious living area (both inside and out back on the patio), the comfort of the bed, and the well-appointed kitchen with all amenities. We love to cook, and with the farmer's market just a quick walk away, we were in heaven! We also walked to close by waterfront sunset spots, and a variety of excellent restaurants. A short drive to the beautiful white sand Gulf beaches each day was lovely! J.D. and Lisa have books with detailed information about the bungalow, the neighborhood, and other attractions nearby. After a day on the beach, there is a diverse DVD collection to choose from while curled up on the couch after dinner. We really did not want to leave, and are already looking at booking our December 2016 getaway!
Three Palms Bungalow is a beautifully updated twenties bungalow in the charming neighborhood of Laurel Park. Nicely appointed house with superb beds, great tv, cable, dvr etc. Near many good restaurants, Farmer's Market and shopping. The owners have done a nice job of updating everything inside and beautifully landscaping the outside.
What a wonderful find!
A thoughtfully restored Bungalow in the Laurel Park Historic District.
The bungalow's location is "walking friendly". We took full advantage of this to explore shops, restaurants and the many attractions in the area. It is also a quick drive to Siesta Key and St. Armands Circle.
We also appreciated the helpful information left for us by J.D. and Lisa.
It was an enjoyable two weeks in this very comfortable Three Palms Bungalow.
