Happy House/ Molokai visit
The lanai, proximity to the ocean and views, and the island of Molokai were a fantastic experience.
The house itself was just okay; not very clean and lacking in some basic amenities. Communication with the property manager just prior to arrival did not result in information as promised.Nonetheless, it is a great island to visit.
Guests on 8/6 were sent their arrival information and they arrived on Molokai they called because they did not have it. And it was after hours so they had to call our cell phones, which are NOT the greatest at times on Molokai. In all our information we do tell guests DO NOT come to Molokai with out your arrival information. So if you do book with us please make sure you got everything you need before arriving. Ii will make things a lot easier then just showing up not knowing. If you have any issues with cleans or amenities please tell us when you are here and not after you leave in a review. We can not make it better for you if we do not know what it is you are missing or wanting or hoping to have to make it a better stay. ALOHA MVP
Older home but maintained well. Location was very good. 2 miles from the town .
Very quiet location. Perfect for a getaway change.
very comfortable place
The house was everything we could have asked for--roomy, clean and comfortable. We made good use of the kayaks and loved that. The beach, though sandy, is not a swimming beach so if you are looking for a swimming beach, look further. But if you want a quiet time by the water with great air flow and convenience, this is the place.
The house itself is lovely, spacious, great lanai without a hammock, but now has a 'couch swing' which is very comfortable as well as other outdoor furniture to relax on.
There were lots of small things that could be fixed easily that would make the experience really excellent, like in one room the ceiling fan light doesn't work, and in another bedroom the fan itself doesn't work. Some of the issues that we found not so lovely have been previously noted by a previous tenant, like the hot water heater is woefully inadequate-it took over 4 hours to reheat water to be able to take a shower after we washed up our dishes-which weren't that many.
We were expected to drag out two very full garbage cans when we arrived-even though they were not our garbage. Not sure why the cleaning staff did not take them to the curb before we arrived.
The barbecue is left out in the elements and is rusty pretty badly and was full of a thick layer of wet soggy ashes where the charcoal goes. There was only one 'long lighter' for the charcoal and it ran out of gas while trying to light the charcoal. The floodlight that points at the grill was not working and made it difficult to see what I was doing-my phone flashlight worked :-)
The 'beach' is not a beach, but a long (like 1/4 mile) low shelf about 1-3' deep over rocky sand so fine for kayaking, but not swimming or snorkeling. Ohm one of the kayaks is missing some pieces, but still works.
It is quiet and serene there and we enjoyed that aspect of the location lovely.
Our beaches on the south side are very shallow and it is best to use kayaks to paddle out and then find the sandy spot in front to swim. You can walk out to a sandy spot but you do need reef shoes it's kind of mucky because of years of run off. But in front is beautiful blue and pristine reef. I paddle there many mornings during the week when it's calm on my SUP board. The house does have a new BBQ with propane tanks. When one empties please let us know so we can fill it on your check out. We do now have a cover too so when not in use please do cover to save the life of the BBQ. The light isn't working and now that we know we can send someone to fix it. The tank is not that large so if there are 6 guests staying there and use the washer it can run out in the day. It's is not solar. We are sorry about the trash that should not of happened but if you do stay there, please upon your departure take the trash can to the road even if it's not the pick up day.
Beautiful location, beautiful views
Were able to watch the whales and kayak right from the property. The bedrooms, living area, and kitchen were adequate. The porch was wonderful. We had 3 couples staying there and with 1.5 bathrooms and an inadequate water heater scheduling was a bit difficult.
We very much enjoyed the remoteness of the area. Few people, even at Christmas, and beautiful scenery.
There are few places to eat in Kaunakakai and small and expensive grocery stores. We were unable to find fresh fish which was a surprise.
There is a out side shower too one can use. Only cold water but at least the weather is warm on the island. When the whales are here December through April Happy house is the best deck to whale watch
