About the property

You Couldn't Get Any Closer To The Calm, Warm, Turquoise Caribbean Sea

Please note: our calendar is always up to date! Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or would like to reserve. Claudio +1-267-648-6597 eastern US time

Free Wi-Fi in unit and on the beach. A/C. Safety box. Free international calls. Good cell phone reception. Patio, with barbecue, overlooking pool and ocean . Firm king size bed + 2 twin beds (each side of the L shaped sofa).

700 yards (640m) of white fine sand beach (with sandy bottom once you are in the water) right in front of the condo. This is considered one of the best beaches in the area, very calm and perfect for snorkelling as it is protected by the coral reef just 100 yards out and where you can see the waves breaking (see photos).

525SF + patio ground floor Studio condominium. The beach area and pool are right in front of the unit, it is shared with the next-door Oasis Hotel that, slowly, bought over 50% of the units of these 4 condo buildings and turned them into hotel rooms. So at any given time you'll have hotel guests and condo owners/tenants sharing the beach chairs, umbrellas (palapas in Mexico) and pool. They make sure the beach is perfectly clean. The only thing you won't be getting is the free booze or any of the 'all inclusive' services. Your 'all inclusive' will be the fridge in the unit. I usually leave some essentials (coffee, bread, bananas, milk, cereal, beer, red wine, cheese, etc) that you can either replenish or leave the money for it before you leave.

Great location right in between Playa del Carmen and Tulum (beach, ruins and town).

HOW TO GET HERE

Transportation Available from and to the Cancun airport (CUN) for USD$75 each way (1:15hr ride) + tip ($10?) (Van up to 3 people and USD$85 up to 8) by Jeromy Transport . They'll wait for you at the airport with a sign with your name on it.

Contact: Miguel. Phone: 011-52-1-998-845-8258 (eastern time).Email: jeromitransferscancun at gmail dot com

The Jeromi driver will be waiting for you as you come out of the airport with a big sign with your name.

Once at the condo, you could rent a car by the day from Enrique, the Caretaker of the building (really nice small car) for $35/day or $210 for 7 days.

You could also rent a car at the Cancun Airport (Blueway has really inexpensive cars, right outside the airport although they don't have the best reviews).

You could rent a car in Tulum Pueblo (15 mins south of the condo's location ) Hertz Tulum Pueblo around USD$60/day and they'll bring it to the condo, here, and pick it up when you want to return it (Fidel, who works there, told me about this).

National Reservations Phone: 011-52-800-709-5000

Address for Hertz Tulum Pueblo:

'Carretera Federal Cancun-Tulum' and 'Carretera Federal Tulum-Coba'

San Francisco de Asis Shopping Plaza, # 9

Hours: Mo-Su 7:00AM-10:00PM

PLUSES: one of the best beaches in the area, generally calm ad with a sandy bottom (for a while). You can swim all the way to the coral reef and the water rarely gets deeper than 7 feet. You can see colourful fish (always), turtles (sometimes), stingrays and the occasional octopus (they camouflage with the white bottom).

When it comes to transportation, you can drive (parking in front of the condo door) or take the 'colectivos' (public buses, white vans, USD$3) by walking to the highway (0.6mi/1km). On these 'colectivos' you can go 30 mins to the north, to Playa del Carmen (USD$30 by taxi) for some fun in its excellent restaurants and clubs or 15 mins to the south where you'll have access to the 2nd best beach in the world , the Tulum Beach (USD$20 by taxi), with its very bohemian crowd and eco beautiful (clothing optional everywhere on this beach, though not technically legal in Mexico). You can settle down at any of the restaurants on the beach and even spend the day there by just consuming food and drinks. This beach is a beautiful and long (more than 4mi) walking beach. The famous Tulum Ruins are at the north end of the Tulum beach (do not confuse the Grand Tulum Beach with the little and quaint beach inside the Tulum Ruins, they are different animals).

For essentials you have the town of Akumal 5 mins to the north (USD$10 taxi ride) or the town of Chemuyil 5 mins to the south (USD$10 taxi ride). For big food shopping you have a large supermarket 'Chedraui' (odd name for a supermarket even in Spanish) 15 mins north at 'Puerto Aventuras (USD$20 taxi ride) and another 'Chedraui' (and even larger) 15 mins south in Tulum town (USD$20 taxi ride). Also lots of chachkas in Tulum town.

MINUSES: road to get to the condo from the highway (0.6mi/1km) is a dirt road. If you were to get there for the first time at night you would think 'where the heck am i going?' as you drive in with jungle on both sides. Don't worry, it gets really nice once you get closer to the unit and to the unit.

Shopping for food would be fairly difficult to do by using public transportation (you would have to carry the food shopping bags in the crowded small public transportation vans, 'colectivos').The closest large supermarkets are 15 mins north or 15 mins south of the condo (by car) USD$20 taxi ride. Without a car it gets tricky. Smaller first necessities supermarkets are 5 mins north by car (Akumal Beach, not Akumal Town) or 5 mins south by car (Chemuyil), USD$10 taxi ride for both.

Beach Paradise

  • 5 of 5

Exactly as described. Great access to the water, snorkeling, walking on fine coral sands. Includes full hammock and hammock chair, barbeque grill, and table with chairs on the patio. Owners have thoughtfully labeled everything for convenience. When the internet was out, the caretaker worked diligently to fix it, then brought in the technician to get it all set again. Very thoughtful. We bought groceries in Tulum to last all week. It is a nice touch to have basics in the fridge on arrival. We left a lot for the next guests. Love this VRBO worldwide community!

A great place right on the beach would definitely stay again.

  • 4 of 5

We loved that this place was right on the beach with a patio that we used to eat most of our meals at. The beach and water were incredible. Communication with Claudio was excellent and he gave us great information. One little thing that I liked about the place was the ability to open the windows above the sliding patio door. It allowed for airflow and at night you could listen to the waves crashing on the beach and know that the patio door was securely locked. I do think it's time to update some of the dishes and utensils. We hope to book this place again in the future.

Excellent location and lovely studio condo right on the beach!

  • 5 of 5

This was such a wonderful spot! Claudio did a truly artistic and very native themed remodel and I so enjoyed the condo, the beach, the pool and the friendliness of all of the neighbors. I felt totally safe, enjoyed taking the "collectivos" and had no need for a car. Cooked a lot of my own meals and even ate st uthe Bikini Beach Bar. - great food! Zamas in Tulim was a treat as well. I will revisit often!

Home Away From Home

  • 5 of 5

Simply amazing! This was our first time staying in this area of Mexico and it was extremely comfortable and relaxing thanks to Claudio's outstanding condo! It was beautifully decorated and had everything we needed: an equipped cooking area, washing machine, AC, drinking water, parking area for our rental car, etc. The view is unbeatable and we loved waking up to the sounds of waves and birds in the mornings. We had different types of wildlife right outside our door including iguanas, lizards, white-nosed coatimundis, agoutis, crabs, and a variety of bird species. Claudio provided a list of nearby activities, attractions, and restaurants, many of which we checked out and loved! We would stay here again in a heartbeat. Can't recommend it enough!

Great relaxing place to stay

  • 5 of 5

First impressions were excellent - windows onto the beach, blue sea, sand, hammocks, cabañas, umbrella, virtually private swimming pool out front and the warm sea just beyond - everyone's dream of a laid back place to stay! I was pretty happy. The condo had everything we needed and was supremely comfortable (the twin tub washing machine was the only very minor drawback as we had been on extended travels...but it worked fine if slowly). Nice big bed, couches to relax on and enjoy the view, etc etc. There was secure parking for our car with a security guard, a friendly caretaker for any problems (we didn't have any), and a hotel next door where if you like all you can eat (and drink including cocktails) buffet style meals, they served these up three times a day for only 250 pesos a head - very good value. They also had a fine dining a la carte area with better food and even better service for the same price. I could not work out their business model for this but if you don't want to cook, who cares! They also had bands and singers and dancing every night if you are interested but it was far enough away from our condo not to be audible. If you want to cook for yourselves get your supplies in Tulum (20 kilometers away) as there are slim pickings indeed in Akumal, 3 kilometres away by car. There is however a fabulous Cafe in Akumal called Turtle Bay Cafe (excellent smoothies and food - fairly good coffee too) and what looked like a good restaurant next door to it. We found the beach swimming a bit sloppy when we were there and a bit too much loose coral underfoot near the water's edge (for our spoiled Australian beach tastes) but the sea was warm and turquoise clear. All in all, a great and visually pleasing place to stay with interesting things to do nearby if you have a car. I liked that it was not crowded and had a very nice relaxing vibe.

A true slice of heaven on earth!!

  • 5 of 5

This is a beautiful "home away from home" located in the perfect spot on the beach. The beach is immediately accessible and the views are incredible. The open floor plan makes it feel so spacious , and the view from the couch is incredible. With the option to cook or grill right there on the patio the evenings were serene and wonderful. We had so much fun finding our way around the grocery store and even more fun cooking it, Tho there are plenty of options of local cuisine to be had! I have decided that having coffee on the beach as the sun is rising is my new favorite thing! I fell in love with this little slice of heaven and would definitely choose to go there again!

Great location right in between Playa del Carmen and Tulum (beach, ruins and town).

Pluses: located right on the beach on the bay south of Akumal Bay. The Meso American coral reef (2nd largest in the world after the grand barrier one) is very close to shore right there (where the waves break in the photos). This makes the beach in front of the unit and to its left (looking out from the patio) one of the best in the area, generally calm ad with a sandy bottom (for a while). You can swim all the way to the coral reef and the water rarely gets deeper than 7 feet. You can see colourful fish (always), turtles (sometimes), manta rays and the occasional octopus (they camouflage with the white bottom).

When it comes to transportation, you can drive (parking in front of the condo door) or take the 'colectivos' (public buses, white vans, USD$3) by walking to the highway (0.6mi/1km). On these 'colectivos' you can go 30 mins to the north, to Playa del Carmen for some fun in its excellent restaurants and clubs or 15 mins to the south where you'll have access to the 2nd best beach in the world, the Tulum Beach, with its very bohemian crowd and eco beautiful (clothing optional everywhere on this beach, though not technically legal in Mexico).

For essentials you have the town of Akumal 5 mins to the north or the town of Chemuyil 5 mins to the south. Also lots of chachkas in Tulum town.

Minuses: road to get to the condo from the highway (0.6mi/1km) is unpaved and full of pot holes, a real mess. You'll have to drive really slowly or you'll wreck your car. If you were to get there for the first time at night you would think 'where the heck am i going?' as you drive in with jungle on both sides. Don't worry, it gets really nice once you get closer to the unit and to the unit.
