Grandma's Cabin is owned by, well, grandma. Her name is Anna, and her grandson, Joe, helps her manage it.
This lovely cabin is the place Anna bought as a special getaway for her family; a place where they could share holidays, quick weekend getaways and summer vacations together. They still do this from time to time, but open our their home to guests with the hope that they may create and share their own vacation memories.
Don't be fooled - even though this is grandma's cabin, Joe loves his electronics. Modern conveniences abound throughout with a 70-inch flat screen TV in the living room, 40-inch flat screen TV & cable in every bedroom, NEST home control system, hook-up for your Apple TV and super-fast internet connection at 20 Mbps.
Joe has made sure to provide a HUGE hot tub and air hockey to keep everyone happy. Relax on the screened-in porch while sitting on rocking chairs with your first cup of coffee in the morning.
This charming getaway is perfect for couples, smaller families and fun adult only weekends. Reasonable rates are offered in this comfortable, clean, quiet cabin - along with fun decor. There are also two full baths, along with washer/dryer, outdoor gas grill, ceiling fans, board games and so much more.
The resort itself has three swimming pools, a tennis court, a general store, and gas pumps. You'll find Grandma's Cabin located at Gate 2, in the more private area of the resort.
Grandma's Cabin is owned by, well, grandma. Her name is Anna Conrad, and I'm, Joe, her grandson. We work closely together to make this place special - not only for our family, but now yours, too. Grandma and I, like many grandmas and their grandsons, share a special bond. These days I do most of the upkeep on her main home and help with her with lots of other stuff. This 'extra' home is the place she bought as a special place for our family to go together to share holidays and summer vacations together. We still do that from time to time, but now, with grandma not exactly being the spring chicken she once was, that doesn't happen as often anymore and we'd like to open our 'special place' to others to share and grow their own memories, much like we have over the years. We still will pop down from time to time, but not as much. We still love it very much, but think now is a good time to share what we love so much with you and your family. See if you can guess how many other grandchildren Anna has by the number of handprints on the basement wall.....
Shelly purchased this house in 1999
After my grandfather died, grandma surprised us all and bought this home in Cumberland as a good place for us all to meet or just enjoy on our own, with our families. We have cared for it tenderly, decorated personally by grandma herself and even done some updating of appliances and amenities in the past year to make it even more inviting. Grandma's Cabin is just some place we bought and forgot about. We come from relatively modest means and this place reflects our family's strong work ethic - and the rewards that go with it (like being able to buy a place later in life for the entire family to enjoy). We've had lots of fun here, we've made it comfortable for ourselves and now we'd like to share that love and accommodations perfect for making great memories with you.
Grandma's Cabin is close to our home in Cincinnati - just a short 2 hour, 50 minute drive from downtown. So, it's far enough way to feel like we've gone away, but haven't driven all day to get there. The same goes for lots of other big cities nearby like Lexington, Louisville, Frankfort, Knoxville, Nashville and Asheville.
Then we you get there, Grandma's Cabin is nestled along the forest with nothing behind us and nothing beside us. It's beautiful. But you're close to the 'big' city of Somerset and all the beauty surrounding us in the Cumberland Plateau, Lake Cumberland, the Big South Fork National Recreation Area and, of course, the Daniel Boone National Forest.
