About Dan Reece

Dean and Dan are long time mates from the midwest USA. They and their wives, Alison and Leslie, are enchanted with the Riviera Maya and enjoy sharing it with others.

Why Dan Reece chose Quintana Roo

Paraiso Tankah is a quiet stretch of Caribbean shore lined with private homes. It is close to Tulum and many area attractions. We built Dos Bahias to optimize its setting, with all rooms having floor to ceiling windows facing the Caribbean.

What makes this house unique

Dos Bahias has a unique, contemporary design. The first floor has a pocket wall that can partition the space into two units. The second floor master suits are separated by an open terrace area. Our two rooftop terraces offer secluded settings to enjoy a 360 degree view and southern sky. There is a full outdoor cooking and dining area next to the pool and beach.

Stunning Accommodations In La Riviera Maya

  • 5 of 5

If you want a fabulous house with a great pool and stunning views, this is your place. The location is ideal just 10 minutes north of Tulum. Me, my wife and 14-yr-old daughter shared the house with another family of 3. There are 4 master bedroom that overlook the Pacific. Four bathrooms and two spacious kitchens. Numerous Cenotes nearby. Internet, cable TV, and yes much needed air conditioning!

The Mayan ruins in Tulum are close, and ruins in Coba are 30 minutes away. Groceries are closely if you choose to stay home to cook, and Tulum offers many local spots for awesome foods and drinks - very affordable.

Four couples could easily be comfortable in the house and there are enough things to do to enable everyone to have their space.

Highly recommend!

Great view, great rental

  • 4 of 5

This property was just as described. The views were beautiful. The owners are great to deal with. The staff was attentive and on site on time. Security arrived every night at dusk and stayed until daybreak. There were a couple of times that they maids didn't leave clean towels, but after requesting the first time, we had more than we needed from then on. One kitchen stove is much smaller than the other, so all of the cooking happened on one side. The only reason I would give this a 4, and this isn't the owners fault, is that construction is happening on both sides of the property. The hotel on the right must have had up to 20 construction workers who stayed overnight most nights. This wasn't an issue most days as they tended to keep to the property. But they did have a tendency to congregate on the roof and stare at us for long period of time. It did make our wives a little uncomfortable. We had to eventually put down the sun shade (which blocked the breeze) and put up umbrellas strategically to block the stares. We then asked the owners what could be done and they sent Augustin over to speak to the foreman. It did reduce the stares but they never completely stopped. If it were not for that, we would have been almost completely alone, with the occasional beach comber. I will say that the beaches are difficult to walk as they are mostly coral and off of properties not maintained by staff (as this unit is), are quite littered. Overall though, great rental, great staff, great owners.

Great vacation

  • 5 of 5

This property was absolutely beautiful!! The pool overlooking the beach was so wonderful to look at every day. The photos are exactly as the home looks. The bedrooms were great and the beds were very comfortable.

There was construction of a boutique hotel going on next door but it was not too noisy or distracting.

We saw the groundskeeper every morning and he took excellent care of the pool and area around the pool. The second day of our stay, the house manager told us the maids would be taking the day off. Of course we texted Augustin and told him we need daily maid service They then arrived every day after that. They did a wonderful job cleaning the house. We saw the house manager two times throughout the week, the first day and when we had to text him that the housekeepers did not leave any clean beach or bath towels. We did have a cell phone that we could contact him anytime we needed him. A security arrived every night and left in the morning, so the home was very secure. It was a great home and would definitely consider renting again.

Beautiful Beach Vacation Home

  • 5 of 5

Stayed here for a week in late July for a family vacation. Had several young kids aged 5-10. House is on a beautiful beach, with a nice pool for swimming. Kids had a great time playing and swimming in the pool.

House is in very good condition. Often when booking a house in Mexico, I've found that the pictures look much better than the actual property. In this case the opposite is true; the house looks even better in real life.

Every night there is a security guard on site from 7pm to 7am. They are very friendly and helpful. There is also daily housekeeping, and a property manager. During our stay one of the air conditioning units in a bedroom went out. By the next day the property manager had installed a brand new A/C unit in that room.

The only "negative" I could say for the property is that while the beach and ocean are beautiful, you can't really go into the ocean. The ocean bottom in front of the beach is quite rocky. These rocks are very slippery, and the smallest wave will knock you over and scratch you up pretty good.

Overall we had a fantastic stay at this property, and plan to come back in the future.

Amazing

  • 5 of 5

Prepare to be amazed. This house is gorgeous and the location is wonderful.

We've never stayed in a rental home before, so I wasn't quite sure what to expect. The pictures shown on this site are lovely, but the house is even better than they could depict. When we arrived and opened the front door for the first time, our jaws just dropped. Everyone just walked around for 20 minutes saying “wow….wow….” You enter to see that the entire back of the house is basically windows, which puts the ocean right in your face. You can't go anywhere in this house without a full unblocked view of the ocean. The natural light fills the whole house and just makes for a very pleasant atmosphere. The first morning, you wake up to the ocean right outside your bedroom and can't help but be completely stunned.

This place is spotless, very well laid out and has almost every amenity you could hope for, with basically two of everything. Two kitchens, two living areas - the only thing you’ll go without is a washer & dryer, so bring plenty of clothes.

Our party consisted of two couples and three children, so the four bedrooms were perfect. The bedrooms are all completely separated, two master bedrooms and two guest bedrooms, one pair on either side of the house, with the masters upstairs and the guest rooms downstairs. There are bathrooms for each bedroom so you don’t have to worry about working around everybody else, waiting to use the shower, etc. Each couple has complete privacy. The house has a unique quality of making it natural for everyone to hang out together, while still having the ability to have your own space.

The house is pretty secluded. Not only is it an hour or two south of Cancun, but once you get to the area, you have to travel down a well maintained dirt road to get to it - There are a couple of hotels with restaurants on this road, with very cool little bars and food. Once you're down the road a ways, you come upon a security guard shack. These guys are great, very friendly and helpful. In the evening, a security guard shows up at the house and is outside patrolling until morning. It made us feel very safe. The housekeepers are very friendly - they show up each day and do a wonderful and thorough job. The property manager, Augustin, is accessible 24 hours a day if needed. He made us feel that we could call on him any time for anything.

I'm out of room on the review page, or I would go on. Bottom line:Stay here, you won't want to leave.

Beautiful House!

  • 5 of 5

Just got back from a wonderful vacation in Tulum with my husband and another couple. The house was beautiful! We could have had 2 additional couples in this house with no issues. Our flight was delayed coming into Cancun airport so we were provided with a code to enter the house. The security guard was on site when we arrived. None of us speak Spanish well enough to converse with him but we were glad to see him. Agustin, the house manager kept in touch with us about our delayed flight and called us once we had arrived to make sure we had everything we needed. We arrived on a Friday and chose not to have housekeeping come the next day since we hadn't been there long enough. Housekeeping does not come on Sundays either which was fine. We loved that we could chose to have more privacy if we wanted. A cell phone is at the house so you can text the house manager with any needs. We did have him make a reservation for us once and he was great. He also came on the maids day off to provide more towels. The house is in a very convenient location. There is a guard at the entrance to the development as well as the personal security guard. A bonus that we did can know before hand is that Casa De Cenote is located in this development which is a great cenote for snorkeling or diving. We had a rental car and the drive to Tulum was very easy. The house owner gave a detailed guide with tourist attractions as well as restaurants and bars. Dan the owner answered all of my question promptly. LizBeth one of the housekeepers is also a massage therapist and we all had hour massages from her at the house which was fantastic. While she was massaging the other housekeeper cleaned so we didn't even have to have them around the house all day. The pool guy was great, would come early and maintain the landscaping and make sure the beach area was combed each day. We took advantage of both the fully equipped kitchen and the outdoor kitchen during our stay. There was construction going on (houses being built on both side of the property) which looked to be about finished on one side and really didn't bother us or affect us too much. Tulum is a beautiful little town with both a downtown area and a beach area. The locals and expats were friendly and we never felt pressured to buy anything or uncomfortable being out at night. As other reviews have mentioned the beach in front of the house is rocky but the bay around the corner has an awesome beach. Would stay here again for sure!
