Why Helene Spitzer and Judy Clark chose Coastal Oregon

For over 30 years we have been visiting the Oregon Coast. We had stayed in a lot of places over that time. For over 30 years we looked a the possibility of purchasing a coastal property. In approximately 2009 we were introduced to this property. We stayed here, loved it and made it the 'go to' place. In 2013 the previous owners told us they were going to sell. We were just in the right place at the right time. Our coastal dream has become a reality.

What makes this apartment unique

Location, location. We have a very short path to steps to 7 miles of beach. Located just 2 miles from Yachats, we have ready access to great restaurants and shops. Cape Perpetual is just 4 miles south where we can hike to our hearts delight. Waldport is just 6 miles north where we rent a boat and go crabbing. We are central to the Newport Aquarium, the Sea Lion Caves and many light houses.

Very nice, clean and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

Our family was in Yachats recently for a family emergency and the property worked out very well for us as a home base. The kitchen was fully stocked, rooms were very comfortable. The snow at the beach was unexpected, but nice to be able to experience it firsthand with a short walk from our room.

Wonderful Place to Stay

  • 5 of 5

We had a great weekend staying at Seasand. My husband and I traditionally spends the Thanksgiving weekend in Yachats and decided this year to include our brother and his family. Seasand's locations, size coziness and amenities made our stay such a great time. Games, cards, food, walks on the beach, stormy, wet weather, everything was perfect. Judy and Helene have a wonderful home for you to stay in and I would highly recommend staying here, you will have a wonderful time!

Our West Coast Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed at the Seahorse twice and both visits were extremely amazing. We loved waking up and walking on the beach. Loved having close access to all the cute little shops in Yachats, Waldport and Newport. The cottage was very clean, cozy and with all the amenities. We enjoyed all the nearby hiking trails. It showed all of the surrounding beauty of the Oregon coast. We enjoyed mussseling and crabbing. Beautiful place to enjoy the amazing sunsets. We will definitely return to enjoy more of the peace and tranquility. Loved it!!!!!!

Excellent vacation spot near Yachats

  • 5 of 5

The home was conveniently located, clean and had ample room for two adults, two teenage kids and our dog. Two bathrooms came in handy. We will definitely consider re-booking in future when we go to the coast again.

Access to the beach was only 20 yards or so, and was very convenient. Home was only a few miles to Yachats and five miles to Waldport.

There was a minor issue with a small appliance (coffee maker) and the owners responded immediately to a text with a follow up phone call and replaced it within hours .... excellent, friendly customer service in all respects!

Thanks for having our family into your home.

Owner's Response: Thank you Eric. We pride ourselves on great customer service and understand the urgency of replacing a coffee pot. We were more than happy to make that happen. Your are so right about the great location. Out of town, yet close enough to easily go in...great location for exploring all that central Oregon has to offer. We do hope you find yourself returning!! regards, Judy

Was just what we needed -- met expectations

  • 5 of 5

This property is very clean and has all you might need for a relaxed and comfortable stay a few steps away from the beach, though not for anyone in a wheelchair or needing to use a walker. If your party includes more people than can be comfortably accommodated by this 3 bedroom, two bath property, the owners have a like rental upstairs and the neighboring owner's property is also available. All three properties share the walkway/stairway to the beach and a common driveway so the combination of properties was ideal for our recent family reunion group. The owners were timely and responsive to our concerns.

Yachats is known as the 'Gem of the Oregon Coast'. Per Wikipedia: Yachats is a small coastal city in Lincoln County, Oregon, United States. According to Oregon Geographic Names, the name comes from the Siletz language, and means 'dark water at the foot of the mountain'. There is a range of differing etymologies, however. William Bright says the name comes from the Alsea placename. At the 2010 census, the city's population was 690. In 2007, Budget Travel magazine named Yachats one of the 'Ten Coolest Small Towns of the U.S.A.', and Yachats was chosen among the top 10 U.S. up-and-coming vacation destinations by Virtualtourist. In 2011, Arthur Frommer, founder of Frommer's Travel Guides, listed Yachats number seven among his ten favorite vacation destinations in the world.

Enjoy quaint shops, fine restaurants, a wonderful bakery, a brew and farm store and more. Heceta Head and Yaquina Lighthouses are close by. Nearby Cape Perpetua offers amazing views, a visitor center with informational programs, access to tide pools and hiking. Sea Lion Caves are a short drive. Nearby Waldport offers crabbing, clamming and fishing. Boat rentals are available form McKinley Marina.

From your front door simply walk along a path and go down private stairs to miles of public beach (clamming is possible). Newport (just 22 miles) has a Historic Bayfront (shops, restaurants, fresh fish and live crab in season), a marina chartes for deep sea fishing and whale watching, and the Oregon Coast Aquarium. Many art galleries within minutes. Many hiking trails are available close-by.
