Stay was good
Great neighborhood. Felt very safe. Rooms were comfortable and glad they had Direct TV and Netflix. Only problem was not enough hot water for more than 2 or 3 people to shower back to back. Must have parking pass, but that was ok. However, finding a parking place was still challenging. Sometimes had to park 2 or 3 blocks away. Nice cookware. Needs more kitchen towels. All in all, good place to stay.
Would NOT stay here again
The pictures show a clean, updated property, but are sadly deceiving. We paid for a 2 bedroom, 2 bath property but only had 1 working toilet for our 5 day stay. Immediately upon arrival we notified the owner that the toilet was not working and was filling with hot water instead of cold. He was apologetic and promised that it would be repaired. Unfortunately, this never happened and he stopped responding to our communications on about the 3rd try.
Unfortunately, the bad news doesn't stop there. The floors appeared as though they hadn't been cleaned in ages, the tile in the back bathroom was moldy, there was a hole the size of a foot in the back bedroom wall (which was only the thickness of wallpaper???), the lampshade looked like it had been in a battle and lost, the towel rack in the front bathroom fell off the wall each time a towel was added or removed, there were roaches in the kitchen. I could go on, but I will leave it at that.
If you are looking for a property in a great neighborhood where you can just go to crash, this may fit the bill, but if you are looking for a clearn, updated home away from home, definitely pass this one by!
Non responsive owner when problems occurred
The initial communication with the property owner/manager (Cliff) was good. He was initially very responsive. Once we checked in things seemed good, however, we immediately realized there was little to no hot water available in the apartment. There were 3 adults and 2 children in our party and neither me nor my husband were ever able to take a shower in the apartment during our 4-night stay because there was not enough hot water. We had to go to the gym to shower daily. Only one of our daughters could complete a shower before the water ran out so they had to shower together. They are ages 9 & 7 so they do not take long showers. Our Nanny had to shower several hours before them in order for their to be hot water for them to take a hot shower before bed.
Then, the toilet in the 2nd bathroom stopped working. Actually, hot water started backing up into the tank. The tank became hot to the touch and was leaking and we could not use the commode. I sent the owner 3 emails immediately (that evening, the 2nd night of our 4-night stay) alerting him to the issue. He did not respond to any of the emails. I also called him as he indicated I should if there was an issue and he did not answer or return the call.
He did email the day before these issues (after our 1st night in the unit) occurred asking how things were going. I told him about the lack of hot water and an issue with the ceiling fan at that time. He sent someone to fix the ceiling fan but did not address the hot water.
I am extremely disappointed with how things were handled, or rather not handled. Our Nanny had to use our bathroom which required her entering our bedroom anytime she needed the facilities. This is not what we expected or paid for and I'm honestly floored at Cliff's lack of responsiveness or concern for the issues we experienced and clearly communicated to him.
The unit was clean. The A/C worked well. It is located in a great neighborhood. The owner did take care of 1 of the 3 issues we had, so it wasn't all bad but I'd never rent from him again and his lack of responsiveness caused a huge inconvenience for our family.
I don't like to leave reviews like this but don't want anyone else traveling across country with small children or otherwise to have the experience we had.
We enjoyed our stay and found everything cleaned and in order!
The property inside is good , but requires improvement at the entrance to apartment. It is full of mold and needs to be cleaned to give a pleasant and smell free Entrance!
Comfy and Quiet, but watch out for those steps!
In spite of being close to active commercial locations in the middle of a big city, this apartment was quiet. No problem with our late night arrival due to ease of access with a front door keypad and code. The only concern was the steps to the door were uneven and hard to navigate. No handrail is there to assist. Otherwise, the apartment is nicely decorated, the kitchen very well provided, beds comfortable.
Location was fantastic! Host was extremely responsive to our needs. Six adults were comfortable in this rental. Conveniently located to either walk or use Lyft to go to Mall, Capitol or White House. Will stay again!
