We stayed in this cottage for my son's graduation from Stanford.
The cottage was very nice, clean , had a lot of extra's you would not expect - It was very comfortable. I will stay there again any time I am in the area.
The owners are very nice, very accommodating- made us feel very welcome and did not even charge extra for the Deer in their back yard every morning for my viewing pleasure while having coffee on the deck !!
There is not one negative thing I could say star rating would really be a 10
My son and I just returned from a 5 day stay at this peaceful cottage. We were in town for a sporting event and thoroughly enjoyed coming "home" to this cottage. It was much larger than I anticipated with a full, very well stocked kitchen and even some welcoming goodies. Very quiet. We will definitely be back. Thank you!!!
Highly encourage you to stay here if you are visiting Palo Alto and the surroundings. It really is a Home Away with Sarah providing those simple touches that make you feel welcome and comfortable. Serene and relaxing while you are out on the deck surrounded by trees and hummingbirds and a beautiful view - it was just what we were looking for. Very comfortable bed, modern finishings in the bathroom, well stocked kitchen (including a fabulous collection of teas!), and even a fresh floral arrangement on the table. We appreciated the welcoming bottle of wine, juice, fruit, and breakfast snacks. Communication was excellent and prompt. We thoroughly enjoyed our four night stay and would stay here again. We stayed here for 3 days in April and enjoyed comfortable and attractive accommodations as well as outstanding views from Portola Valley all the way up San Francisco bay, from our bedroom and outside dining area deck. The kitchen was perfectly equipped for our simple meals. The owners were available if we had questions or problems. We enjoyed hiking in the Windy Hill Open Space Preserve, dining at the Portola Kitchen in the Ladera Center, and exploring in nearby Menlo Park. We hope to stay here again, and we would definitely recommend it to our friends.
I am an avid traveler and VRBO aficionado. I really, really loved this cottage. And it is very spacious, clean, modern and bright. The kitchen is very large with a great deck and peaceful views on the garden and rolling hills of Portola Valley.
Sarah was very kind to meet me late at night as I wasn't 100% sure of where I was going. As some other guests mentioned, there were some very nice touches like snacks, bottle of wine, soaps, shampoo- in short, way better than a hotel (not to mention great price for the value!). The bed is super comfy as well!
Another plus was being literally a 15 minute drive to Palo Alto where my office is located. Going from the countryside and beautiful neighborhood to a tech hub so easily is a rare find. I wold definitely stay here again and I HIGHLY recommend to others.
This is a quiet cottage that hugs the steep hillside, with wonderful views looking out to the northeast and to the Bay. It was perfectly quiet here, and birds were outside in the morning. The owners had stocked the kitchen with several things in the fridge, and it was very convenient to have olive oil, condiments and spices already there.
Guests should know that the main floor is a flight of stairs down from the road, and the kitchen is another flight down - but this is to be expected for a view like this.
I look forward to coming back in the summer when I can spend more time on the terrace.
The grill worked well, the kitchen is well stocked, and I would make a few meals and enjoy eating outside.
Beautiful and convenient location! Ten minutes to Stanford University and Palo Alto. This area is popular for hiking, biking and horse riding. It’s also only a 30 minute drive to San Francisco. Less than five minutes to a shopping center that has a quaint market and restaurants.
