About Rich Summit View
Our family has been vacationing in Boone since 2003 and have been in love with the area ever since. We particularly love getting out on the Blue Ridge Parkway, Moses Cone Property and Grandfather Mountain for trail hikes. For the more manicured walks, consider Moses Cone trails around the property which includes two different bodies of water. Runners, joggers, walkers and those just out on a stroll can enjoy something there. The Plantation home is being remodeled to period charm and has the list of places to walk and enjoy.
Rich Summit View purchased this Cabin in 2013
Why Rich Summit View chose Zionville
After much searching, we chose this property for is proximity to nature, seclusion (non-winter months) , mountain views and the way the cabin sits on the land. Because of the southern exposure the morning sun lights up the house with natural light and keeps the deck and living room warmer in the winter. Where we are located we can head out in any direction and be in Virgina, or Tennessee in a very short time. Since we are close to the TN border and Watauga Lake we can head there for Rafting or kayaking. Being close to Todd means bicycling and running on Railroad Grade road as well as fishing, river rafting, and canoeing at RiverGirl. We are 5 miles away from Elk Knob State Park, a newly opened park that covers and protects 3,473 acres the second highest peak in Watauga County. This offers a spectacular view for miles in each direction. We are always open to being contacted directly about where to eat, play, hike etc. *please note that direct phone contact can only be made after the booking due to new rules. But we are very open to assisting our guest so they have the best time and great memories.
What makes this Cabin unique
Our side deck, Master Bedroom and Living room all look out onto Rich Mountain. The sun rises over this mountain and shines into the house providing tons of natural light. In the evening sun sets over our front deck which gives you a different perspective of the surrounding trees, colors in the sky are different each day. Get out and take a walk through the neighboring apple orchard or trails.. just enjoy yourself. One our favorite things about the cabin is the quiet and seclusion that surround our home – you can curl up with a good book or play a board game, with only the birds, wind, and creek as your soundtrack. You'll also love relaxing in our hot tub, kicking back on our deck in the rocking chairs and watching the sunset, counting the constellations, or just enjoying a beverage. But if you're itching to get out and explore, we have quite a few recommendations.

Really Nice Cabin Hideaway
We really enjoyed the cabin privacy. Everything worked, was clean and well organized. The bed was comfortable with quiet ceiling fans in all rooms. NOTE: Makesure you arrive during the daytime. We arrived after dark it was a pain finding the cabin because our GPS went out.
We are so glad you enjoyed yourself! We are trying to squeeze in a few days ourselves a few days before October and again in November.
Great spot! Lovely deck for looking up at the next mountain over. Convenient to Boone and Banner Elk areas so lots of dining options as well as hiking, tubing etc. Drive up the mountain is a bit steep and long, would be pretty tricky in the winter without 4WD. We had a great time.
We are so thrilled you loved it! I agree and we have it in all correspondence from our Property Manager to guests that 4 wheel /all wheel drive is a must in the winter and will not let renters book without it. However, the steep part is only the length of two corners. Which are the last two corners to get to that elevation of 4100' that is so super cool in the summer and offers such a great view. The actual road in from the main asphalt road to cabin is appx 1.2 miles of gravel and again the only steep part is the last turn to the cabin. Thanks again for such a great review!
Clean, Quiet and cozy!
Our family really enjoyed ourselves. Perfect cabin for time away from a big city. Its clean, quiet and very cozy. Owner is very responsive when asking any questions. Even called me personally to tell us about restaurants etc. to eat at. Cabin is well stocked and has everything you will need. (except food) lol. Only issue was internet was intermittent. Maybe it was the high winds we experienced. Overall, very pleasant stay and will visit again in the future!
You were there during a very windy stay. I talked to friends down in Boone and heard all about it! So glad you had a terrific stay though. We would love to have you back again soon!
We had a great time!
Our family had a great time staying here and exploring the area. The property was well kept and had great amenities. We would love to come again!
Wonderful and we would welcome you again!
Thank goodness for this cozy cabin!
We chose the worst weekend to come to the mountains. We had cold temps with rain. We usually love to hike when we come to the mountains and drive the parkway for scenery. If I had rented a stay at a hotel we would have been so bored! This cabin saved our trip!
It was very clean and decorated nicely. We loved using the fireplace and hot tub. It was so quiet and relaxing. The cabin had everything we needed. Very private, surrounded by trees. We still had moments we could go and shop or drive the parkway, but we always looked forward to going back to the cabin to stay. This was probably our most relaxing weekend get away yet!
The owner and management company were easy to get a hold of and easy to work with. You won’t be disappointed!
I remember thinking that "I hope the people at the cabin aren't having a terrible time because of the weather". We typically watch the weather when we know guest are there. We have had so much rain this past year it's just amazing! I suspect our flowers will look next spring though. Thanks for staying and we hope you return again. We have a few guests that return each year to their "special place".
Hiking right out your front door, kayaking, biking, zip lining, tubing, skiing, antiquing, outlet shopping, sightseeing, gem mining, Tweetsie Railroad, Mystery Hill, Vegetable Farms, Grandfather Mountain. We are great for your Honeymoon too! *Monthly bookings, where allowed, require an additional mid-month housekeeping cleaning of $200 (including hot tub) . Rich Mountain View from deck.
