A Beautiful Home Filling Us With Perfect Memories
From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, everything was more than we could have ever hoped for - from the beautiful house and gardens, which are impeccably maintained, to the idyllic village only a few moments' walk away. This is one special place made even better by the warm welcome we received.
On top of it all, we were able to drive easily to the mountains for some wonderful skiing. Sea views and snow in February - now that is not something you get everyday!
All in all, the family loved it and we can't wait to come again.
So very happy that everyone enjoyed themselves - especially the smallest members of the family: twins skiing at 2 1/2 years is pretty awesome! And the ski area, Gréolières, is unique since you can see the Med from the top.
Like all my renters you're always welcome back with the returner's discount!
Terrific stay at La Plantade!
One of the many reasons we chose this villa was its close proximity to Tourrettes sur Loup. We wanted a small town experience walking distance and that we had. The town is charming and has all the basics..bakery, butcher, restos that you need for a week's stay. We purchased the bulk of our groceries in Vence, 10 minutes away. Good wine choices at E. LeClerc in Vence but in an emergency walk over to the main square of Tourrettes...a tiny restaurant there called La Cave aux Vins(hope that is right) sells all kind of wine. Know that staying north of Cannes and the A8 will add a bit of driving time to your tourist destinations along the coast. This was okay with us.
The house is not set up like a typical rental. Personal touches, fantastic artwork, well stocked kitchen, beautiful garden and view to die for with fantastic varied seating to drink your wine when you return from a day of touring. We were three couples and opted to use the basement apartment for the third couple rather than the third bedroom...nice and private, great bathroom, very good beds, little kitchenette. I recommend.
Andrea, the owner, was detailed in any explanations we contacted her for. There was a wifi glitch when we were there...it appears to be all sorted out. She has a pile of resources in the sitting room for any area info but there is also a town TI walking distance...go and get all your maps and further info, tours, there as well to get your trip sorted out. We waited too long...google maps is great but we still like the hard copy and the TI's has better area maps to follow instead of the very detailed Michelin ones.
Annemarie, it's good to hear that you enjoyed your stay and, like myself, you prefer the hard copies of maps! Very sorry about the internet glitch. A previous guest had inadvertently 'reset' the router which confused matters. I am pleased that you liked the personal qualities of the house and hope to see you back for a longer stay complete with the returner's discount! Au revoir!
Fabulous House and Location
My husband and I plus two other well traveled couples just spent 10 mid-October days at LaPlantade. To say we were delighted with the house and its proximity to the medieval village of Tourettes sur Loup is an understatement. We were amazed we had managed to find this gracious and beautifully furnished house and village. What a perfect home base for our Provence day trips and our relaxing stay at home days.
The spacious house had everything we needed. The balcony that overlooks the village and countryside was used daily. It was great to enjoy sunset cocktails there before the easy saunter to one of the village restaurants for dinner.
The small kitchen had everything we needed to do some home cooking too. Modern appliances, large numbers of cookware, and ever a salad spinner!
The bedrooms were quite a ways apart from each other, which insured a quiet night's sleep in the comfortable beds. A full bath for each couple was a real plus.
After one tight squeeze up ride up La Plantade's narrow driveway, we opted to keep our car in the nearby free parking lot. Not a problem.
We didn't figure out the clothes dryer need to have its water collection tray emptied from time to time until later in the visit. I'm sure that was just because we weren't familiar with European dryers. We had sunshine every day of our stay so our slightly damp clothes dried quickly on the terrace on one of several drying racks until we figured we needed to empty the water tray.
Andrea was responsive and helpful with whatever questions or arrangements we needed. She was a perfect, if long distance host.
We felt privileged to have been able to make La Plantade our Provence home.
Thank you, Alexandra, for your kind and thoughtful review.
I am so pleased that you enjoyed your stay and had good weather, as is often the case in October - lots of sunshine, clear skies, balmy days and cooler nights.
So happy that you were happy! I hope to welcome you back again soon. There is much still to see! And don't forget the returner's discount!
Excellent villa and location !
Villa La Plantade is a character property sat within a beautiful well maintained garden with views of the local village of Tourettes sur Loup, sea and surrounding mountains. The villa is furnished and equipped to a very high standard, well exceeding our expectations. We (4 adults and two children) thoroughly enjoyed our stay and found the location very convenient for visits to the local villages of Valbonne, Grasse, Mougins and Eze, amongst others. We discovered the beach and watersports at the nearby town of Cagnes sur Mer which was excellent for the kids (and the adults!). The larger coastal resorts of Cannes, Antibes, Nice and Monte Carlo are all within easy reach. Andrea provided us with all requisite information and was on hand to offer assistance during our stay. We have fond memories of lazy afternoons by the pool under the crystal clear blue sky, BBQ’s in the garden and evenings spent at the local restaurants in nearby TSL. We hope to visit again !
A simply stunning property
La Plantade is the perfect property for a relaxing holiday. It is beautifully decorated with great flair and style and maintained to a high standard. The location is peaceful and secluded yet a short walk from the centre of Tourettes sur Loup (which is a gorgeous French village). It is highly recommended.
I am delighted that you and your family enjoyed your stay, Andrew. Thank you so much for your kind, thoughtful words. I hope to welcome you again to La Plantade in the near future.
La Plantade villa was everything we hoped it would be for our holiday. We have visited Provence every year for the last 25 years and the villa's location to the village and surrounding area's was perfect and the best we've experienced. The views from every part of the villa were superb and it was one of our great pleasure to eat al fresco on the veranda over looking the surrounding area.
The property was clean and well looked after and Andrea (owner) was very helpful with any issues we may have had. The cleaning and maintenance staff we also very pleasant and helpful. They looked after our cases for us when we left the villa for our last breakfast in the village.
The village of Tourettes Sur Loup was the very best you could ask for and is our favourite place in Provence. All in all an amazing holiday and we will definitely be returning.
Thank you so much, Debbie, for your kind, thoughtful words!
It is gratifying to know that I and my team have fulfilled your wishes for a lovely holiday. We make the extra effort whenever possible to ensure a peaceful, enjoyable and 'recharging' sort of experience.
Hopefully in the near future I will be be able to welcome you back and to offer you the 'returner's discount'!
Tourrettes-sur-Loup is a beautiful medieval village situated on a hilltop overlooking the blue Mediterranean and its adjacent promontories. Built as a refuge over 1200 years ago against the invasions of the Saracens it became in the 20th century a place renowned for attracting artists of all persuasions: poets, painters, musicians, sculptors, film directors and movie stars. Among these were Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman, Claude Lelouche (of 'A Man and a Woman' fame), and Jacques Prévert. Today its narrow pedestrian streets contain a wealth of artistic shops. There are art galleries, textile weavers, ceramic potteries and original jewellers. Four outstanding restaurants nestle in its alleyways. Ten minutes away is famous St. Paul-de-Vence with its innumerable art galleries and the renown Fondation Maeght, home to a vast collection of Miro's, Giacometti's, Calder's, etc. Further afield to the south the glamour and sophistication of Nice offer exciting nightlife complete with casinos, theatres, concert halls and the opera together with high-end world-class shopping. The excitement of Cannes and its film festival are only 35-40 minutes away while Antibes with its world-class marina - considered the biggest and best in the Mediterranean - is even closer. Its elegant centre and fascinating Picasso waterfront museum are not to be missed. Going north you encounter the romantic 'arrière pays' where life continues in the old ways and for the daring sport enthusiast there is paragliding and even skiing in the winter at Gréolieres. Often at Christmas time you can be sitting in your shirtsleeves in the sunshine enjoying the view to the Mediterranean while contemplating the afternoon's skiing expedition!
