Shea Villa is a stunning, one-of-a-kind, waterfront estate. This 6 bedroom, 5+ bath, 7,800 square foot villa is ideal for family reunions, luxury lake vacations, “milestone” birthdays or anniversary, and weekend getaways.
Located on pristine Murphy Bay, just 3 miles from Sandpoint, Shea Villa resides on 2 acres of native cedar and pine trees, carpeted by flat and expansive green grass to 156’ of private, Lake Pend Oreille waterfront.
Carve pro-like turns while waterskiing or wake boarding the glassy surface of Murphy Bay. Fish for rainbow trout off the dock or revel in the solace and creativity as you watch the children build sand castles, swim in the warm water and just embrace being outside all day long. Grill chef’s preparations on the elaborate barbeque – or take the night off and travel by boat to dinner. The charming town of Sandpoint is just minutes away. Return home to the wood-burning fire pit and devour s’mores as you search the night sky for shooting stars.
Schweitzer Mountain is just 12 miles away and is extraordinary for its large terrain and tree skiing. A wide variety of sports and activities are enjoyed here: cross country ski, snow shoe, hike, canoe, kayak, horseback riding and more! Afterwards soak, recount and relax in the huge hot tub which bestows spectacular views of Schweitzer and the lake itself.
Shea Villa will delight the passionate parishioners of modern architecture and interior design devotees. Imagine a tranquil, cedar tree lined driveway. A colonnade entrance beckons you -- beginning an uncommon vacation experience that unites nature’s external beauty to avant-garde modernism. Upon entry you are greeted by a sweeping, spiral staircase that is awe-inspiring in its helical structure.
Designed by renowned architect Ron Tan, with professional interior design by John Rovtar, the open floor plan is capacious, elegant, and inviting. Mr. Tan’s influence of Chinese architecture creates interior rooms of balance and symmetry, while an extensive use of vertical glass connects you to the breathtaking views of the lake and mountains outside. Enjoy quiet conversations around the fireplace in the living room or watch your favorite sport or movie in the family area. Celebrate that special birthday or anniversary in the opulent dining room, with custom hutch and sparkling glassware sets.
Next to the family area, a large sunken bar replete with pony keg tap is perfect for evening cocktails and entertaining. A Brunswick billiards table leads to an 8 ball challenge and game night is made easy. (A wide variety of board games are provided).
Great homes have great kitchens and Shea Villa is no exception. This epicurean kitchen will delight and gratify the serious cook with its 4 foot long Viking range, double ovens, and warming drawers. Plentiful and gorgeous, granite counter tops provide ample work space for the sous chef and wannabes. Custom cherry cabinetry, slate floors, large stainless sink with Instant hot tap, professional appliances, bake ware and kitchen staples complete this incredible kitchen. An enormous “butler’s pantry”, behind the main kitchen, provides a separate area for the clean-up crew, as well as abundant areas for storage.
Follow the long quiet hallway to enter the master bedroom suite that truly encapsulates artful design with luxury. A large, elevated fireplace can be enjoyed in the immense King bed or elongated sitting area. Panoramic lake views come from the tall, custom windows and a private patio door allows for easy access outside. Pamper yourself in the master bathroom: sunken, jetted tub, large shower, double sinks, his and her closets, and bidet are just some of the amenities.
Even on vacation, work duties may beckon. Dual, private offices, with secured high-speed WiFi allow privacy and focus when needed. Each office faces the lake, providing beauty and serenity for clear thinking.
Originally designed as a family retreat, 5 Guest Suites are located upstairs. Climb the sweeping, wide, spiral staircase to reach private and complete sleeping and bath areas. The best family vacations provide enough room to celebrate time together, while allowing quiet and restorative time apart. 4 Guest bedroom suites are nearly identical with a Queen bed, vanity with sink, TV and custom ‘California’ closets. 2 stunning, full bathrooms service these bedrooms. The 5th Guest room or Family Suite provides 4 twin beds, in a large living space with table, couch and a full bathroom -- perfect for kids, cousins or additional family and friends.
Summers in Sandpoint finds everyone outside. In addition to the large patio and outdoor kitchen, a variety of chaises, tables and chairs provide the ultimate in comfort and amenities for alfresco living. The large flat lawn is perfect for volleyball, badminton or croquet. A hidden tree house is a secret discovery for little ones.
Shea Villa is unique in size, design, privacy and amenities. However it is not an event venue, so please no wedding or large reception requests.

Shea Villa was designed as a large family retreat home. It's rare to have a near 8,000 sq. ft. home on 2 flat acres, with 156' of waterfront. Murphy Bay is close to downtown Sandpoint, but is a great bay for water sports and offers incredible views.
6 large bedrooms, enormous kitchen and butler's pantry, sunken bar for entertaining, 3,000 sq.ft. stone patio, hot tub, pool table, fire pit with gas starter. Private dock has 2 boat slips and a boat lift. Private, beautifully landscaped grounds, close to downtown Sandpoint and located on one of the most pristine and best bays for boating and water sports. Guests love the beach and built-in, lakeside fire pit with gas starter.
Shea Villa unites contemporary design on a magnificent, flat waterfront lot on Murphy Bay. This exceptional home is located just 3 miles from Sandpoint and has 6 large bedrooms, private dock, boat lift, hot tub, fire pit, & gourmet kitchen.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Plenty of room, amenities and great layout. Kellee and the staff were more than accommodating and made the planning seamless. The experience was exemplary. A guest who stayed with us for my 40th birthday was so impressed she booked the same place a week or two later for a gathering she is organizing! Two thumbs up. Highly recommend!
Shea Villa is a wonderful place to host a large group gathering. We had 6 couples in our group and it was fabulous to each have a vanity in our room and with 5.5 bathrooms there was never a wait. The kitchen was stocked very well and there was plenty of counter space and with all the bars and a huge table there was plenty of room for everyone to sit and eat. The home is more impressive then the photos show as well. There was plenty of seating for hanging out, playing games and to escape to a private part of the house for alone time. There is also a luxury hot tub. Actually everything about the home was luxurious. We will definitely book it again. Would be a fab place to gather in the summer because the outdoor living is amazing.
Our family just retuned from a week at Shea Ville at Murphy Bay. Having experienced living within this expansive home with all the amenities as described is more wonderful than ever imagined. The picturesque waterfront property and view of Sandpoint across the lake can be enjoyed from inside as well. My favorite place beside the kitchen was the second story open air hot tub that gave me the sense of being on a cruise ship. We all enjoyed the natural blend of activities right at "home" and a trip to town for huckleberry ice cream or to the Pine Street Bakery for something delicious was fun and doable. Murphy Bay is great for a paddle board beginner and the more experienced boarder found excitement too. I'm happy we had our ski boat to explore the lake and tube and to find a fishing hole by Springy Point State Park just around the bend. We explored the bike paths, Bird museum, and City Beach but were always happy to come "home" to our private piece of paradise. Kudos to the property manager and concierge for their professional and friendly handling of details from start to finish. Wishing for no more wild fires!
I have read the other reviews and I think cirruspilot captures it all... this place is amazing! It has everything you could want, imagine, need.
Our visit was a family reunion/funeral for our Mom. We came from 4 corners of the country to gather for this. Yes it was sad but it could have been even more so if we had to stay in a hotel with limited space for the 14 of us to meet, reminisce and discuss. Staying at Sheavilla gave us time together. The huge kitchen area allowed home cooked meals, the many spaces and rooms gave us places to visit and relax. The deck is wonderful with such a beautiful view of the lake and the fire pit was relaxing in the evening.
Eagles, Herons, turkeys, geese...these visitors were fun to watch and share the waterfront area with. Enough grass in the yard to play catch too.
Nothing was left to chance...cabinets were extremely plentiful, storage rooms/pantry had lots of room, plenty of bathrooms for the multitude and beds to sleep in. There were beautiful granite counters everywhere and a huge glass 10 person dining room table fit most of us at mealtime. The breakfast bar accommodated the overflow as did the bar if needed.
The house is amazing and comfortable. Quite upscale and luxurious. I would hope anyone renting would be responsible to take care and respect it for the owners. It is very kind of them to have opened their house for others to enjoy. It was definitely made for gathering and I highly recommend it.
As for the property manager, she was very quick to respond even when away from her office and very kind in helping us find this house. She walked us through the rental agreement and had someone meet us to let us in and explain how things worked. There is a clean up process and a few special needs of the house (for example dishwashers must NOT be stopped mid-use) but simple and understandable. All the directions are in a binder just in case.
If you are looking to rent in the Sandpoint area, Daughtry Property Management can help you find the right place. Sheavilla may be it. If it is, it is worth it!
(please read cirruspilot's review. Very thorough)
In my opinion, you cannot find a nicer, more beautiful place to stay than Lake Pend Oreille for a summer vacation. We've been coming here for a few years. We've tried hotels, motels and rentals. Be forewarned.. Once you try a luxury rental (like Shea Villa), it's game over. You will NEVER go back to a motel room...EVER.
The pictures accurately reflect the beauty and attention to detail of this property. The kitchen and dining area are well stocked for large or small groups. We spent half the time looking for things in the multitude of cabinets! Besides its fantastic location right on the lake, what made this property stand out was the room with the 4 single beds. We had a group of teenagers that plugged in their X-box and spent many nights playing into the wee morning hours after a long day on the lake... while the rest of us slept quietly in the main bedrooms. We didn't hear a peep even though they can be loud at times! Boys!
The hot tub was used almost nightly by the kids and adults. Also, the fire pit lit up fast with the gas assist. The wifi was available almost everywhere in the house with fast service.
Outside, you will be heckled by the resident Golden and Bald Eagles that nest there. In fact, you will be so accustom to hearing the eagles after a week they will start to sound like sparrows. At night, you will see more bats that thought possible.
During our stay the boat lift did not work but I'm told that will be fixed next year. Tying up a boat to a dock when it gets windy can be nerve wracking if you have not done it before.
Finally, the cool interior. At times I felt transported into the luxurious Miami style homes of South Beach. The front staircase, entry and building construction are straight out of the series Miami Vice (In my opinion). Then, you enter another room and you are whipped back to the woodsy Northwest. The eclectic mix of styles seems to blend seamlessly in the fantastic luxury rental.
Finally, the question remains... would we stay here again??? Let's just say I was the first one to contact Kellee immediately after our stay... Book us for next year... where do I sign!!!
What a beautiful home! We had our family reunion here in July 2014 with ages ranging from 5 to 85 and family members from overseas and 6 U.S. states. There was plenty of room, and privacy, for everyone. The common areas are perfect for visiting, dining together indoors or out (we mostly used the outdoor grill and tables for casual dining), or watching World Cup soccer!
We rented a motor boat, paddle board, and two-person kayak. It was great to be directly on the lake. We swam, water skied, played badminton on the back lawn, and just sat and visited a lot.
The kitchen and butler's pantry are perfect. There's pretty much everything you could imagine at Shea Villa. The concierge was extremely attentive to all of our questions and needs. We would definitely come back. All the kids called it "the mansion." A very relaxing, enjoyable week was had by all! Thanks so much for everything! It was perfect!!
Lake Pend Oreille is one of the most beautiful lakes in the world. Murphy Bay is known for THE best water skiing and water sports area on the lake. The water is warm, shallow and calm in summer.
Shea Villa estate is just 3 miles from downtown Sandpoint, 12 miles to Schweitzer Mountain and 30 miles from Canada.
Silverwood amusement and water park is just 20 minutes south. Sandpoint's Fish Hatchery & Wildlife Discovery Center is just a few lots away.
We know the area very well and as an active family can provide recommendations on hiking, skiing, boat and jet ski rentals, restaurants, and a wide assortment of activities based on YOUR interests. We also provide concierge services, so that you can make the MOST of your vacation and time in Sandpoint.
