This colorful Rocky Mountain abode, cozy with lots of character, is the longtime home of a local artisan. The rooms are tastefully eclectic and Feng-Shui-ed to near perfection, making it an easy place to 'just be'. . . to unwind, and marvel at the awe-inspiring canyon vista.
Come to explore, reflect, rejuvenate, reboot. Unwind in the backyard’s sweetly adorned wood-fired sauna. Pick a good book from the house library, or stay a while and write your own!

My name is Amy Sage. I opened the first vacation rental home in the Bitterroot Valley with my SweetSage Guest House 15 years ago. As a stay at home mom with three children I have gradually expanded my property management business to include a variety of vacation rentals while still being able to mostly be home with my family. I pride myself in providing private, clean, affordable accommodations with all of the comforts of home.
This home is close to town, convenient to services yet secluded with awe inspiring mountain vistas.
Close proximity to the Bitterroot River provides a sanctuary for songbirds and wildlife commonly seen through the picture windows. Steps away from the largest intact wilderness in the lower forty-eight. Minutes to the river or hiking, to a hot Latte or cold Microbrew.
I rented The Red House for 5 nights with my two Grand daughter's 6 and 7. They loved picking out their own rooms, waking up to the smell of pancakes cooking every morning and quietly watching the deer graze in the backyard while we ate. The garden in the front yard was beautiful and added to the peaceful aura of the home. We enjoyed visiting the shops in historic down town. The Daily Mansion was one of our favorite spots to visit and we went twice once just to play in the huge yard and picnic. Lake Como is about ten minutes away and is amazingly beautiful. We loved coming home after a long day of adventure and relaxing with a book or a game. Very clean and cozy. I did not want to leave. I will be booking this house again. Thank you so much Amy and Mary. You out did yourselves making us comfortable.
The property had every thing that we needed and more. More than adequate. A great garden with lots of lettuce and flowers for our table.
Unfortunately there was a forest fire in the mountains about 3 miles from our house it really didn't effect us except for some smoke in the mornings as the humidity rose and settled the smoke in the valley.
Otherwise we enjoyed the deer in the yard and adjacent fields in the morning and evenings.
Due to the warmer weather and lower water in the Bitterroot River there were some restrictions on fishing that did not allow us to partake. However ther were other activities that we could participate in. One day of trying our artistic talents which produced some unusual watercolor paintings from every one.
All together a wonderful 5 days!
A lovely home in a lovely setting! Close to Hamilton and the river. The house is clean, welcoming, and they've thought of everything! I can't wait to stay here again!
This was our 2nd time staying at the Red House and we already have plans for a 3rd. Your experience here will be lovely in every respect: Spotlessly clean; every kitchen accommodation you could possibly need; the beds were super comfy, and my personal favorite -- everywhere you look inside and outside this little red home you will find an artistic flair (and this includes the surrounding mountains).
This VRBO experience was flawless.
We had a wonderful stay in the Red House in September. The house was so warm and inviting, we wanted to move in for an extended stay. It provided a comfortable place to gather for meals and evenings with family after a day of hiking, shopping, touring. Fresh vegetables from the garden were a treat. Laundry facilities on site were a perk. The deer and quail wandering through the yard were so fun to watch. We look forward to returning.
We've rented a lot of houses in the U.S. and abroad and few of them have been as warm, inviting and comfortable as this cottage on the outskirts of Hamilton, Mt. Four of us, aged 9 to 51, spent four days here in August to round out a two-week Montana holiday and it was a perfect compliment to the wonderful rigors of camping in Glacier National Park. Between the personal, tasteful and functional decor, we found the place so pleasant to be in that we opted to stay in several evenings rather than go out to dinner. The mountain view alone kept us mesmerized for hours at a time and each of us found a book to enjoy on one of Mary's eclectic shelves. The beds were comfortable and hotel-standard clean, the kitchen was well stocked and the washer dryer a welcome sight after 10 days in the wilds. We hope to come back!
