Bungalows Guayacan are set around a huge, endangered hardwood tree named the Guayacan. The Guayacan sits around the pool towards the ocean side of the property.
Bungalow Dos has a queen bed, a full kitchen, small refrigerator, gas stove, coffee maker and all the kitchenware you'll need.
The bungalow is built in a simple one room studio style with the kitchen and bedroom on opposites of the floor plan and a separate bathroom area with the patios placed for pool, monkey, bird, and ocean viewing.
Bungalows Guayacan were built and designed by the owner and completed in June 2012 with laurel wood ceilings and paneling and the patios, door and window frames all accented in teak.
Bungalows Guayacan come completely furnished, fully equipped, and are surrounded by lush gardens, gravel walkways, private parking, pressurized hot/cold water, SKY/cable TV, wireless internet, cleaning service, gardener and laundry facilities and/or service needed.
Take time to walk along the trails of our 7 acre property...look for coatis, anteaters, jaguarundis, white face and howler monkeys, various bird species, and iguanas...or find one of our sitting areas and just watch and listen to the ocean.
Our staff can help with any questions or needs, so sit back, relax, and enjoy your stay with us...
The neighborhood is very peaceful with private homes and rental homes spread out in what really is the countryside. It is a stark contrast to the high level of activity just south in Santa Teresa. Some neighbors still pass by on horseback, and it is common to see cows beings herded down the main road to a hand dug well on the beach for water and grazing. The property is located up over the ocean - 55 meters - so you can hear the waves crashing on the reef below. There are no buildings between the ocean and the property. There is a road in front of the property that takes you down to Manzanillo Beach (250 meters) which you can walk or drive. You can go south for less than 5 minutes and arrive at Hermosa Beach.
One of the great things about the beaches here are you can head down Manzanillo Beach all the way to the Bongo River (about 7 km) and somedays rarely see a footprint on the beach.
Below the property on the old road, there is a small, picturesque waterfall that is fed by our springs in the rainy season that flows under the beach road and onto the beach. Along the same road, there are a series of beautiful tide pools where you can find plenty of privacy almost any day of the year.
I love to fish and to surf and there is plenty of that here in Manzanillo, just ask!
One can arrive to the Nicoya Peninsula by direct bus out of San Jose, by renting a car and taking the ferry over from Puntarenas to Paquera, or by Sansa Air or Nature air flying into Tambor.
A car can be rented out of Tambor at Budget Car Rental.
Also, we can offer to pick you up by taxi in Tambor and brought directly to the property as well as stopping in Cobano for groceries for $50.
ATV's....We have negotiated very good prices with various rental agencies for ATV rentals. This is a great option for getting around and lots of fun. Just ask.
We have private and secure parking for our guests.
Finally, many guests ask if a car or ATV is necessary. It depends on the traveler. Some people love to walk and enjoy there time here walking everywhere and seeing everything at a slower pace. I am always impressed by this. But in general, I recommend some type of vehicle during your stay so you can really get to know everything the peninsula has to offer, but it is not necessary as we have taxis that provide great service to our guests and can take you anywhere you wish to go.
I'm a surfer/traveler who stumbled upon Mal Pais and Santa Teresa in 1993 and never could quite let go. I made the Manzanillo/Playa Hermosa area my home in 2001 and have never looked back - great waves, incredible natural setting, and interesting people - I've found my paradise.
I've been fortunate to have lived all over the US, travel the roads with rock bands, drive through Central America by Jeep, live in Europe and Japan - all the while surfing - but I have been more fortunate to have had total strangers open their homes, hearts, family and cultures to me and show me things I could have never learned on my own. I'll never be able to thank them for their kindness and teachings, but I can repay them by passing what I can on to others. There's nothing I enjoy more than sharing what I've found here in this small, but unique corner of the world.
Trey Derrick purchased this bungalow in 2001
I chose Manzanillo because it is far enough away from the action and the congestion of Santa Teresa, but close enough to hop in the car or on a 4-wheeler and have access to anything and everything one could want - and most importantly, the private and pristine beaches and the outstanding surfing and fishing Manzanillo has to offer!
The bungalows are surrounded by a plethora of indigenous trees, and the pool has a very old endangered Guayacan tree on the ocean side. The entire property is 3 hectares (approx. 7.5 acres) and is connected by walking trails with ocean views from almost every corner of the property. The property has been reforested and planted which has brought back the birds, butterflies and animals to the property. You can sit anywhere on the property and hear the waves crashing below down at Punta Pochote.
We spent nice holidays in Trey's bungalow. It is a beautiful and peaceful place. We had everything we needed. Trey was very nice and helpful. Playa Hermosa was our favorite beach to surf and sunbathe. We recommend this place.
Trey is a great host, lives on site and is there to help if needed. He has numerous units at his place you can rent. Ours was pretty basic, one room and a bathroom. The bed was great, quiet evenings, terrific view, air conditioner was excellent, the pool is awesome. The beach is beautiful with few others there. Only downside is you really need some wheels. We rented a quad and that is what I would recommend. Also the kitchen is very basic but his place worked for us. We would recommend staying with Trey.
We had a truly wonderful low key vacation. Trey was truly a very knowledgeable and gracious host. The grounds were beautiful and had great views. Lots to do!! Great beaches in the area. Loved everything about our stay. My wife and I are looking forward to our next stay there
My 5 year old daughter and I arrived with a group of 18 with the expectation of relaxing for a week...and our expectations were definitely exceeded at Senderos de Paz.
Bungalow Dos had everything we needed for our stay and kept "life simple". It was simply perfect for us!! We had the chance to hear/watch/observe the monkeys every day, play & chase hummingbirds, crabs, iguanas, etc, explore the gorgeous trees & flowers AND had our very own private pool within steps of our front door!
Trey was amazing!!..He helped coordinate our shuttle service, 4 wheel rentals for the week, our zip line excursion and even went out of his way to ensure our catered dinner was delivered during a thunderstorm one evening...which, in my opinion, is above and beyond :) and VERY much appreciated.
The grounds were clean and very well taken care of. The options were endless depending on what may be of interest.
Reflecting on the week we had at Senderos de Paz, I will say this. My expectations were FAR exceeded. My beautiful, sometimes shy, and spirited daughter conquered a few fears, had SEVERAL new experiences (paddle-boarding, zip lining, riding 4 wheelers in a beautiful country, waking up to monkeys, etc) and I felt relaxed, at peace and LOVED the adventures we had together.
The new addition of the yoga "room" was absolutely gorgeous and served as both a relaxing & entertaining element of the property.
As for Bungalow Dos, it would be perfect for anyone (or two) when looking for a place to "hang their hat" for a while :)
Side note: Winston is the coolest dog EVER!! Hug him, pet him, give him some love & he will definitely return it! Pura Vida!!
