About Pamela Hedstrom
I am an international development consultant and have lived in many emerging markets over the past 20 years. While I am on long term assignments I rent my home so that others can enjoy Tao, the beach and the Mayan ruins!
Pamela Hedstrom purchased this Townhome in 2013
Why Pamela Hedstrom chose Akumal
I have been coming to the Riviera Maya for over 30 years and while there has been a lot of development the area near my home has maintained its charm and lush greenness.
What makes this Townhome unique
It is great living inside a community like Tao - you have all the benefits of a resort community and its amenities, fabulous neighbors and lots to do and see nearby!

Awesome place, great location, wonderful host!
We had so much fun! It's my favorite place I have ever visited. We will definitely be back!
I'm glad you and your family enjoyed your vacation at my house! Looking forward to having back soon. Pam
Lovely place to stay
This house is lovely and situated in a calm surrounding.
You absolutly need a car if you want to do more than beach/pool/restaurant.
Merci beaucoup Natalie B! I am glad that you and your family had a great time and were able to explore the many fun things there are to do in the area. Indeed it is very easy to visit all the attractions on your own rather than through a tour. We will also put instructions out for the dvd player so that future guests can get it to work.
Great vacation rental but needs better management
We had a very enjoyable vacation. The townhouse was perfect for two couples with a toddler. The owner couldn't have been more helpful!
Because the owner hadn't been there in the past year, she had to depend on the management firm to take care of her property. There were several things I asked dos chicos to help with which they initially seemed to respond to but were never done in our one week stay:
-rusted out, unusable grill on patio
-TV cords not there....bedroom TV unable to use
den TV needed cords switched if you changed from TV to DVD
-two phones in unit not working (need minutes added??)
-only two small rolls of toilet paper provided, no paper towels, no laundry detergent, no dishwasher detergent, only two mini bottles of water provided, only a small bar of soap in each bathroom
-large tear in the screen door to the patio
-light bulbs needed replacement including the front door area
-both showers leaked into bathrooms
The property is wedged in with neighbors all around, however that being said it was quiet and friendly. We enjoyed our late afternoon walks around the beautiful golf course seeing the coata mundies and agouti. There is a large infinity unheated pool just a short walk away. It was convenient to take the golf cart transportation to the beach and heated pools of the area resorts. The on site restaurant with limited menu was very good for breakfast or lunch with excellent owners prices. They also deliver in the evening.
I would suggest renting a car in order to go the local restaurants and Tulum sites.
This area was clean and safe and a great place for a family vacation.
I am glad that Pam V. and her family enjoyed their vacation at my house. Dos Chicas does a fantastic job doing the local property management for many Tao properties and are very proactive in meeting guests needs. It is always helpful for guests to point out things that need to be addressed. Pam V. would not allow access to the unit during her stay so Dos Chicas took care of these items once she checked out. I have recently gotten a second tv and we are still waiting for the cable guy to come complete the connection...same story all over the globe! We also provide a basic amount of supplies for guests and they are welcome to use whatever may be left at the house including condiments, cleaning stuff, etc. but generally guests need to obtain their own food and household items. I also have provided local cell phones for guests but it is up to the guests to reload minutes.
The Tao holiday was great !! The location of this comfortable condo was great. We woke up every morning with the sounds of birds singing. We had a car, but the community is easy to walk around. We could walk to the Tao center, which is great. There is a shuttle that goes back and forth to the beach. The condo had everything you need for cooking and BBQ. We will definitely go back again.
fantastic townhouse in very convenient location
perfect base if you prefer to stay away from mammoth resorts. close to best places on the riviera (tulum, akumal, etc), very comfortable townhouse with excellent distribution for family of 4.
Martin, it was a pleasure to have you and your family! Always nice to host the Bursteins!
The Tao Wellness Resort is nestled in the private 717-acre Bahia Principe 5 star resort's Residential Complex and surrounded by the world class Robert Trent Jones II 27-hole championship Riviera Maya golf course, TAO complex is an exclusive community in between Akumal and Tulum, in Mexico. The Mexican Caribbean offers tranquil and uncrowded beaches, a vast network of underground rivers and cenotes, the action of eco-adventure sports; proximity to many of Mexico's most significant Mayan archeological sites; as well as golf courses, spas, shopping and gourmet dining to suit every lifestyle and budget. The city of Tulum, just 15 minutes away, is the only known archaeological site located by the sea and visitors may enjoy visiting the well-preserved archeological Mayan heritage and nearby ecological reserves, all which provide the perfect framework to create an environment of total peace. The Mayan culture remains present throughout the area, in the many indigenous communities still found here. They strive to preserve their traditions, religion and social structure, although the real splendor of the ancient Mayan civilization is most evident in the numerous archaeological sites of this stunning area, such as Tulum, Cobá, Chichen Itzá, between many others. It is through the pyramids, playing fields, sculpted stone pillars, plazas and temples that some of the mysteries, still surrounding one of Mexico's most important cultures, have been partially deciphered.
