This historic building in maltese-oriental style was lavishly renovated. Thick walls guarantee a pleasant climate throughout the year. Located at the outskirts of the picturesque of Zebbug, it features a scenic view across to the neighbouring town of Siggiewi and its impressing dome. The spacious entrée and the elegant but homely lounge room compose the ground floor. The kitchen area with state-of-the art equipment as well as the dining area for 10 with its open fire place are located a few steps downward, where also the large terrace with pool, pegola, sitting area and deckchairs is located. The first and second floors host the bedrooms, bathrooms, an additional luonge area as well as alarge roof terrace. Satellite TV, DVD-player and stereos are in place.
From the street the property appears as an anonymous house in a narrow Zebbug street. But once you open the front door, you find yourself in a beautiful mansion, decorated with endless paintings and photographs, spanning 4 storeys reachable through a stylish stone staircase : a spacious open kitchen on the base floor connecting to an open area with pool, a comfortable living room, 4 bedrooms, 3 of which have their own private bath room, a laundry area and a top roof garden providing a breathless view to Zebbug and its surroundings. We felt living amongst the Maltese people, not being tourists at all.
Malta being a small island and Zebbug being located almost in the centre of the isle, caused all touristic sites (Valetta, Marsaxlokk) to be only less than half an hour driving away.
The only drawbacks were the overload of mosquitoes in the pool area, which caused us to prefer the inner kitchen to have our meals. Also the pool area did not capture much sun, due to its orientation. But this cannot be accounted for by the owners. I doubt that many houses in Zebbug are having a private pool.
We can recommend this spot to anyone willing to explore Malta from within.
We recently stayed at this beautiful property for a week to attend our sons' wedding. We were a mixed party of grandparents, aunty and mum and dad of two and a half year old twins. The moment we stepped into the property we were overwhelmed by the size. We were met by Rita, the housekeeper who was very friendly and helpful throughout our holiday. Although the house is very large it feels very homely and we all had a very relaxed holiday. The house was very clean with lovely furniture, and it is very rambling so there is always somewhere to escape if you want a quiet moment. Everyone who visited us was 'wowed' by our choice. Zebbug is ideally located for touring the island, the only downside was that there were no restaurants locally so we had to drive to eat out. There is a local shop near the house and everyone was very friendly and helpful. We would certainly recommend this holiday for families and even couples who want to share as there are four beautiful double bedrooms and three well equipped bathrooms. We would certainly recommend this property for a holiday that is away from the usual holiday spots, although easy enough to get to other parts of the island when you want to.
The town of Zebbug is centrally located and perfectly suitable for trips to all of the island’s sights. The bay of Ghar Lapsi, ideal for sea bathing, is located a few minutes away by car. The house is located in the historic area of town, the main market, the butcher, bakery, bars etc. are located very close by. The centre with its historic square and church is only 2 minutes walk away. The other side of the building allows an incomparable view far into the countryside.
