Pahoa House Rental Photos and Description

2 Bedrooms Each With Queen Size Beds And Fold Out Mattress For Kids

Aloha and welcome to Hale Nanea, a place to relax, enjoy and have fun.

Whether coming to the island looking for adventure or a relaxing vacation Hale Nanea can meet your needs. Only minutes away from one of the few active volcano's on the planet you can sometimes catch a glimpse of the glow in the sky from the flowing lava field. It is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the cool trade winds on a hot day while reading a book or enjoying the ocean views. Or if you are looking for more adventure there are many options close by: Kehena Black Sand Beach which is visited by spinner dolphins year round and humpback whales in the winter months, Kapoho tide pools which is one of my favorite spots on the island to go snorkeling, Mackenzie Park where you can explore a lava tube, Green Lake which has a great hike through the jungle and beautiful views from the mountain, and naturally heated thermal warm pool. After all your exploring or relaxing you can check out one of the daily yoga classes and book a massage at Kalani Oceanside retreat which is just a mile away.

Your accommodations are on the top floor of a newly renovated house with all new appliances and a fully equipped kitchen. There are sweeping ocean views on the lanai (porch) and beautiful mountain views from both of the bedrooms.

Keywords: A two story house with a beautiful lanai overlooking the ocean and the mountains.

About maxwell

I live in Makawao on the side of the Haleakala Volcano. I work there as a psychologist. I grew up in Minnesota, moved to Florida, and moved again to Maui 15 years ago in search of ever-warmer climates.

maxwell purchased this house in 2005

Why maxwell chose Puna District

The Puna Coast on the Big Island is a very unique place and a wonderful spot for me to get away from Maui and enjoy the quiet of the jungle.

What makes this house unique

It is a short distance away from the ocean and a beautiful retreat center, which offers many ongoing yoga, tai chi, aerial, dance, hula, Hawaiian studies, and Huna healing classes to the community.

We had fantastic time

  • 5 of 5

This property worked very well for our family (2 adults, 1 kid 8 years old). Spacious, very quiet (and I mean it), well-equipped kitchen (Berkey water filter surprised us a lot!), lanai at the second floor, private entrance. Maxwell and his family are perfect hosts, their advises were very helpful. We were for 4 days there but wish our stay was longer. A lot of things to see nearby (the most memorable was lava flow viewing) and we definitely didnt' check many of them. Will come back for sure if we stay at this part of the island again.

Cozy & quiet

  • 5 of 5

My third stay at this property was great as always. The property is very quiet and has comfortable beds, a well equipped kitchen and a lovely covered lanai with furnishings for four people. All windows are screened and bugs were minimal (considering of course that this is in the jungle). The on-site (downstairs) manager gives you complete privacy but is readily available if there are concerns or questions. This property is well-priced and I always recommend it to friends visiting the area.

Perfect for a Big Island Get Away

  • 5 of 5

This place is a hidden Gem in the middle of the tropical Rein forest. Maxwell was very welcoming, and made our stay very pleasant and relaxing. Very responsive and understood our needs. Adequate amenities, the bedding and sheets were superior quality, made us sleep like babies in the soothing sounds of the forest. Our Four year old son loved waking up in this house each day. We stayed here for just about 4 days and wished it was longer. We arrived here when the lava Flow was expected to flow on Highway 130 blocking out Pahoa town, But din't impact us, it was interesting to be a part of all that was happening in the area.

Its in the middle of everything that is best in Big Island. The highlight was the drive we took everyday along the most scenic Highway 137. It is in 5 minute driving distance from the warm ponds, beautiful views of the sunrise and Kalani retreat. It is midway between and Hilo and Hawaiin National park, each being about 1 hour drive. In three days we drove to the Volcanoes park, Punalu'u Black sand beaches(Sea Turtle preserve), Rainbow falls, Akaka falls, Wipey lookout, Mauna kea Observatory, and Hilo Downtown, that was lot of driving but explored the Hilo, Pahoa coast.

We missed the activities and workshops at Kalani retreat. Next time, we will spare a couple of days for that.

Stay here to explore the beauty of the cost of pahoa and Hilo. Altogether, it was perfect.
