|Minimum Stay||60 - 90 nights|
LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION! If you're a nature lover looking to getaway from the hustle and bustle of the world, this is the home for you. We have beautiful creek views from almost every room, a very large private backyard, a new wooden deck overlooking the water, and a dock for launching your kayak or parking your boat. UNLIKE other creek or canal front homes in the area, you are not looking straight into someone else's yard or house across the way. Please see Links and Video tab for a video of the home.
Bring your boat....we have a covered dock and just one bridge to the gulf. This lovely home is on OYSTER CREEK with access to Lemon Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. If you are a boater, kayaker, or nature lover you will love this home. From April through August, Boca Grande Pass is home of the world's largest tarpon population and this house is just about 15 miles away by water or land. Or you can just sit and watch the turtles, fish, otters, alligators, and occasional manatees swim by.
Also within walking distance to Oyster Creek Regional Park, Ann Dever Memorial Regional Park, and Cedar Point Environmental Park. All have walking & bicycle trails, kayak trails, bird watching, and nesting eagles. It's only ten minutes to Englewood Beach and Stump Pass Beach. Also within a close drive to Walgreens, Wal-Mart, restaurants, and a sports bar.
This wonderful home has a many years long history of happy repeat renters prior to our purchase of it. The lack of reviews is due only to consistently having the same winter season renter for several years consecutively. It's a great place that has everything you need to live the Salty Florida Life for the summer tarpon season, the winter snowbird season, or all year long.
We live in Florida full time and purchased this house as a weekend getaway. Since then we have fallen in love with the privacy of the backyard and the laid back feel of the Englewood and Englewood Beach area.
Jill Grady purchased this house in 2013
We love waking up to a view of the creek, spending time in the huge backyard, looking up at the many stars in the night sky, listening to hooting owls, kayaking out the back door, and bird watching.
Unlike other creekfront houses we do NOT look straight at or into another house directly across the creek. Both our house and the one across the way are hidden from sight of each other by plenty of mangroves and other foliage to provide privacy.
We thoroughly enjoyed our week stay at your Englewood home. The house is beautifully decorated, clean and comfortable.
It is situated in a very quiet neighborhood close to all amenities. There is a great variety of stores nearby, like Walmart, Publix, Bealls, etc. and a great selection of restaurants. For the sports minded like ourselves, we utilized the tennis courts and large swimming pool at a nearby sports complex. The gorgeous beaches and amazing sunsets are only minutes away. We enjoyed relaxing in the backyard which offers a view that is very peaceful and serene, along with the ability to catch a wide variety of fish or a chance sighting of a local manatee. At night we sat in the screened in porch and enjoyed the peace and quiet.
Because of where the house is located there are many possibilities for day trips. We went on day trips to Boca Grande which is known to offer the best Tarpon Fishing in the world, and we also went to Sanibel and Captiva.
The owners Barry and Jill know how to make their quests feel comfortable. We would highly recommend this “jewel” in Englewood.
The first word that comes to mind when describing this house in Englewood is peaceful – followed by perfect, then paradise. Using the vrbo.com website, we have found wonderful vacation rentals. Only this time we weren’t renting for a week but for a full two month stay. As first time “snow birds”, we didn’t have a frame of reference other than we wanted to be on the gulf coast. Just looking at the pictures on the website and reading the description of the “lazy, winding creek” and we were sure we’d found the right place.
The owners were wonderful to work with in helping us prepare for two months away. They even sent pictures of the kitchen appliances and supplies so we didn’t bring things we wouldn’t need. Throughout our stay, they kept in contact, making sure all our needs were met. We couldn’t have asked for better “landlords” than Jill and Barry!
The house itself is very comfortable and beautifully decorated. We felt at home as soon as we walked inside. Everything you need to be a gourmet or casual cook is stocked in the kitchen, with several grocery stores close by to provide the food. There are numerous restaurants in the area, everything from family diners to upscale dining. A short drive in any direction provides opportunities for entertainment, play, sports, and sightseeing. Our favorite is Ann Dever Park, less than a mile away, with a community pool, playground, walking trails and boat launch.
For us, the best part of the property is the backyard. Nestled next to Oyster Creek, we spent most of our time on the large lanai, watching the birds, fish, and other assorted creatures (including a family of rambunctious squirrels) who kept us amazed and entertained. The yard is very private and the sounds of nature are heard throughout the day. Identifying the birds became one of our favorite activities. We even had a bald eagle from Cedar Point Park (about 3 miles away) come to greet us from their nest in the park.
We are very excited about returning to our Englewood retreat again. Next time we’ll be staying longer.
We learned, our hosts worked hard over the past year to make their property exceptional, and their hard work paid off! The home is located in a quiet, upscale neighborhood, roomy and spacious with a front, and a second back facing living room, picture windows overlooking the backyard with its gently flowing Oyster Creek, rising and lowering with the tides. The well equipped kitchen is modern and brand new, and the windows and lightening are exceptional for cooking, and lingering longer in the breakfast area, or on the patio with a nice cup of New England Arabica coffee the owner provided us in our welcome package! I am a cook, so I spent a lot of time in the kitchen, and even hosted a dinner party for a friend who lives in Venice, just so I could show off the property. We shopped for organic produce which is abundant and cheap at the Wal-Mart located within minutes of the home. My husband and I enjoyed the morning view thru the picture windows of the master bedroom. There is a large, old pine tree, with gently swaying Spanish moss, welcoming each new, sunny day. The best part about our laid back vacation was getting a truly great night sleep. The new bed is dreamy and large enough to cradle my 6'5" hubby's frame. All the bathrooms, washer/dryer, lighting, heat worked very well, are clean, neat and comfortable. We were pleased to discover the home is within walking, biking,or a one minute car trip to Ann Dever Park. This park has a huge Olympic pool with lifeguard, walking/hiking/jog trails, play ground, and a cricket field we used for flying radio controlled planes with a neighbor, who turned out to be the inventor of Handy Boy grills. Englewood, Stump Pass, and Blind Pass beaches were perfect for napping, beach combing, people watching and kite flying. The gentle surf was a delight to watch, and it was great to see the local beach bars & restaurants lively with folks enjoying themselves, dining on fresh gulf sea food, N.Y. pastrami, Rubens and bagels, Phillies, & even Pierogis & Pasties! The beach areas are lively with tourists, but affordable and not packed shoulder to shoulder. Look for a laid back atmosphere, nice breezes, pleasant Midwesterners and local natives to enrich your stay. Your "Englewood Escape" home hosts are pros, available via text, email, and phone if needed. Naturalists will enjoy the calming botanical and water views.
Nice quiet neighborhood within walking distance to three different parks, walking trails, and biking. . . but not too far from civilization with a Walmart, pizza place, sandwich store, medical, dental, and Walgreens all within a 5-10 minute drive away
