About Kathy East

This home was built for James A. Turner, the founder of National Welders in Charlotte, NC. It was built as a place to 'getaway'. Mr. Turner passed away in 1998, and his family now allows others to enjoy the fruits of his labor.

Kathy East purchased this house in 1994

What makes this house unique

This tradtionally built home is deceiving from the outside. It is quite spacious and the many skylights flood the interior with natural light and give it a warm, welcoming feeling. The decor is very comfortable and inviting. The greatest attraction is the almost panoramic view of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. You can spend countless hours relaxing on the deck, and watch the clouds drift over the range that stretches out for miles.

Zenful!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay in Blowing Rock, in particular, this home, was wonderful! I love this home! Both the home and the view are beautiful! The home is extremely clean, tastefully decorated, and has everything anyone could possibly need. I would highly recommend this rental! Plus, Kathy was extremely nice and such a pleasure to work with. We will definitely use again!

Perfect mountain retreat

  • 5 of 5

We had a great weekend at this property, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to spend some time in the mountains. The house is beautiful (modern and well designed --- my husband and I loved the clean lines and all the windows, which take advantage of the view), spacious, very clean (which is important to me) and conveniently located to Westglow (where we were attending a weekend event). It's actually very close to the town of Blowing Rock (so it's not a hassle to run in to town) but far out enough that you enjoy the peace, quiet and beautiful views. It was raining a good bit of the weekend, so we didn't get to sit outside the enjoy the outside sitting area, but it looks like it would be quite inviting. It was comfortable and had everything one needed for the weekend to feel at home. I loved the fact that the kitchen was equipped with a Keurig, so we could bring our favorite k-cups from home (because what's a vacation if you can't start the day with a good cup of coffee). I also like that the house is divided with the main living area and Master bedroom on one side and the guest bedrooms on the other side (divided by the foyer); since it was just me and my husband, it was nice and cozy to have everything close by/within reach. The owner was an absolute pleasure to deal with, and we look forward to staying here again in the near future.

Truly a home away from home!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our recent stay and appreciated the attention to detail that this home offered. We found the home very comfortable, clean and convenient to both Blowing Rock and Boone. The mountain views were beautiful and the privacy and location were readily accessible. The home was nicely decorated and the garage and spare refrigerator were a plus. If hot tubs, pool tables, game rooms or outdoor firepits aren't a requirement then this home is for you! We also enjoyed working with Kathy East and found her to be readily accessible, professional and quite efficient. We would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a home like atmosphere with all the amenities you would need in a convenient location. We look forward to our next stay at this home.

Great home.

Great home beautifully decorated and usable. Would recommend to 55 up due to layout of the home. Would use in the future. Three bedrooms all on one level is hard to find in the mountains.

Wish I could give it more!

  • 5 of 5

I almost hesitate leaving this review lest the word get out and we won’t be able to rent again. But here goes. This is the most perfect rental ever. It is private, quiet, immaculately clean and maintained, wonderfully situated close to Blowing Rock, and has spectacular views. Moreover, it is light, bright and comfortable. Beds are great. If it rains, there is no problem with kicking off the hiking boots and reading all day. The kitchen is well stocked with top quality appliances and it is close to all of the loveliest hiking trails on the Blue Ridge. The deck is large and overlooks, not only a gorgeous view, but a lovely little back yard. The garage is an added plus. Just slip the car in, close the door and it feels as though you are the only person on the mountain. Kathy is extremely responsive and easy to deal with. We so look forward to returning next year.
