Welcome to New-Orleans!
Bienvenue à La Nouvelle-Orléans pour les francophones! Oui, on parle francais.
We survived Katrina, no floods, minor damage ( the cottage was built on high grounds, facing the Mississippi river, where Native Indians, early French settlers and their West-African slaves used to live in the 1720's).
We are blessed and thankful. Our thoughts still go the victims of this disaster.
Come and visit our great city.

Also check our 'MONDECREOLE Secret Courtyards/ Private homes & CEMETERY walking tour'/ THE INSIDER'S FRENCH QUARTER. 80% of the 2h30mn tour takes place behind locked doors and explore the lives of old creole families from New-Orleans.
1) Walk through closed gates and, surrounded by the stillness of secluded, tropical courtyards, step into the mysterious and forgotten story of those long dead. Amid patios of profuse and entangled beauty, meet the spectors & mirrors from the past: the European and the African branches of these legendary Louisiana dynasties.
From grand & distinctive townhouses to original slave quarters, hear about french immigrants, white & black aristocrats, free people of colour, slaves, changing society after the Civil War and the birth of JAZZ while a culture tragically dissolves. Discover where, how they lived and their intimate secrets shared only with VOODOO queens of long ago...
2) Hear also about Historic Haunts & places, myths & legends:
Infamous figures such as Marie Laveau and Jean Lafitte make appearances, as do Napoleon House and a possible yellow fever morgue. The tour offers historical context for the legends surrounding these people and places, suggesting where the myths could have originated without necessarily debunking them.
The city is full of wonderful mysteries, which add to the flavor of our history. We intend to reveal different layers of the stories so that people may understand how and why each legend came to be.'
Visitors will learn about the ghastly details of each haunted location and then learn about the historical time period in which they occurred. The tour begins with the settling of New Orleans, when young French and Senegalese women were sent to the colony as brides for male settlers. They were rumored to have brought vampires along with them. The tour also explains the atmosphere of death and decay that pervaded the city during the massive outbreaks of yellow fever in the mid-1800s.
Frommer's says it is the most fascinating, unexpected, exclusive tour in town, much more historically accurate and entertaining than all the regular touristy haunted history tours.

I am Paul and we thank you very much for visiting our homepage.
I grew up between the USA and France. What a better place to be than Louisiana?
Paul. purchased this house in 1999
New-Orleans is wonderful and a unique place for its history.
Bourbon Street can be a lot of fun, no one there thinks moderation is a virtue ! But do you really want to stay there during your stay ?
We much prefer the authentic 'Faubourg Marigny', this is the real New-Orleans, with its little corner shops and our historic home is a nice, quiet retreat full of old charm, hidden by a tropical jungle-type private front-yard/ front porch.
They are foremost concerned about the rebuilding of our city, wetland issues, global warming, sustainnable development and how to create a clean, green & better city for next generations.
The house stands in the middle of a friendly, progressive, quiet, family oriented and safe neighborhood. It is also close to the best attractions in town. Walking distance for groceries as well.
Thanks to the lush front yard, its tropical plants, the cottage is also a nice secluded retreat providing complete privacy and a comforting sense of peace with its own 'mystique'.
This creole cottage is ideal for a stay in New Orleans. It's wonderful to stay in a neighbourhood with full time residents and still be so close to all the sights and places you want to see in the French Quarter and on Frenchman street. The house has lots of space -so much more than any hotel can offer and lots more conveniences as well. The bathroom arrangement is a little odd as you have to pass through one bedroom to enter it. So sharing this accommodation is best done with people who aren't overly uptight about privacy. It's a lovely and charming place and I will stay again if I get the chance to return.
This property is absolutely stunning! There were no surprises, it was everything as promised. The home is exactly like the pictures posted and the owner/management were a dream. It has a gated entrance, the location is perfect and the walk to downtown french quarter was easy and beautiful. I love New Orleans and staying here took you back to the heart of this city. I will always check if Caprice is available first for my future trips!!!
I think I will remember this cottage fondly for years to come. I am not sure if photos can show how unique this home really is. The ceilings were higher than I expected and there were grand architectural features. My favorite part of the trip was listening to the local station Paul had programmed into the radio and watching the rain come down from the fabulous front porch. The front yard has a tropical feel, provides much needed shade, is a great place to people watch, and gather lemons. I like to get out and about in the town when on vacation but this rental made me inclined to stay in and get some R&R. Paul was very kind and informative. I just wish we could have stayed longer.
We traveled here with old friends for a Thursday thru Sunday stay, this house was in the perfect Location, Location, Location... walk to Frenchmen, Bourbon & Market. Debra the property manager was very accommodating and extremely helpful. The house was charming and so comfortable. We loved all the art and old photographs, nice eat in kitchen and bathroom ok but could use a shower (update) seniors would have a problem getting in & out of tub. the neighbors friendly, this house is the one I will remember, would highly recommend it and will certainly stay here again the next time visiting New Orleans
We just spent a wonderful week in the cottage. Awesome location, close enough to the French quarter and Frenchmen. The cottage itself is an attraction with its history & furnishings. We really enjoyed the tranquility of the front porch early mornings and late at night. Horse drawn carriages going by and the pleasant sound of calliope music from nearby steamboat Natchez. It was a great choice & more than enough room for the 4 adults & 2 children we had on our trip. We will definitely be back to NOLA & we hope this little gem is available when we do!
Couldnt have asked for a better location or house for our NOLA adventure. So close to Frenchmen & the Quarter (though stayed mostly round Frenchmen for the music!). The place itself is classic, and well maintained. My only critique of the place was the "shower" aspect - yes there is a shower - but its a hand held nozzle attached the tub - and only stretches out a certain distance - so you are left crouching or sitting down in the tub while you shower - not ideal, and could be easily fixed with a shower head stand to attach it to (and maybe some curtains around the tub). But a very minor critique on an overall incredible place. Best value there. Paul and Debra were absolutely delightful to deal with - incredibly helpful and recommended some great gems in the neighborhood. Will definitely be coming back.
In the Faubourg Marigny, 2 mn walking to Frenchmen street/ best place for Jazz, music lovers and only 2 blocks from the French Quarter.
We are also 4 blocks from the Faubourg Treme, the African-American Museum, Voodoo Temple, Backstreet Cultural Museum, Saint-Augustine Church and much more!
