Our house has recently been built, its a two bedroom with bouble bed, single bed and there is an inflatable queen size mattress if needed. There is a bathroom with hot tub, living room, dinning room, kitchen and laundry room. All rooms are equiped and ready to use.
You can have access to satellite tv and internet use in the house. All windows on the back side of the house have a mountain view, so since you wake up and until night, you can take a look out the window or go out on the porch to enjoy the beautiful nature view.
The house name comes from a special characteristic that the main bedroom has, there is a star shape on the ceiling of the bedroom. The other different thing the house has, is a dimond shape on the living room ceiling with special lighting wich allows us to create different environments.
The house has wooden floors and big windows that will always keep you in touch with the outside.
Driving a little bit up hill from the main road you will reach your private destination. The house has forest all around and you will enjoy taking a short walk in the mornings around the property to go bird watching and sometimes see wild animals passing by. If you want to have a closer look at a 'tico' family and farm, you can come and visit our small milking farm and learn how to milk by hand. You can feed the chikens and see local art making by one of our mothers and have a costarican lunch, or why not help prepare it as well!
To go to town its about a 10 minute drive (3km) were you can find restaurants, shops, spas and other interesting things.
So dont miss the opportunity to come and enjoy Monteverde and stay in a place that can be like home.
We have two different backrounds, Adalberto grew up in the community of Cañitas and Zabrina grew up in the quaker cummunity in Monteverde center. He works in a state bank (Banco de Costa Rica) and is finishing his studies in administration. She works as a nanny and is studying public health administration. We both like dancing, short trips, movie watching and cultural exchanges.
Zabrina Rockwell purchased this house in 2012
The property where the house is located is owned by Adalberto`s father, who gave him land to build the house. So it means a lot to him, it is where he grew up and is still family connected.
It`s land passed on by generatios and it has a nice mountain view. After lunch and all through the afternoon the sun shines right in the house and at night you can enjoy the clear sky full of stars and it`s even better when it`s full moon.
This was a excellent place to stay... I stayed two nights and
wish I would have stayed more. Owners went out of there way
even coming into town to get me when I first got there and showed me around town. Definately recommended!!!!!!
Star House met all our expectations...It is fully equipped (all amenities).
The order, privacy, security, interior design, the warmth of the wood, everything! makes you feel like in your own home.
The owners give you the keys personally and make you many recommendations on things to do and enjoy the stay.
At night you sleep with the sound of the trees moving in the wind and in the morning wake up to the sound of birds...Start House is on a hill, so the sunsets are incredible from the main deck... wine and book please ;)
In Montezuma (at 5 minutes) you find many options for adventure activities and places to eat / dining, pharmacies, banks, cafes, etc... If you don't want anything like that, just to go to the back of the Start House and make your own walks in the forest that has the property.
Zabrina and Alberto thanks for attention!
I highly recommend this House and Montezuma for those who want a balance between activities with nature and peace!!
We really enjoyed our stay at the Star House. We stayed four nights and it wasn't even enough. I could have spent a whole morning just watching the birds from the porch. But there was so much to explore in the area. Zabrina helped arrange tours for us and made excellent restaurant recommendations. She was very helpful with anything that came up and responded quickly to any questions.
Setting was beautiful and the house was clean and well equipped.
Highly recommend! Bring your binoculars!
We stayed at the Star House for 3 nights in March of 2016 and really enjoyed our time there. The house is comfortable, clean and well stocked. We had everything we needed. There is a beautiful view from the deck, living room and master bedroom. The location is great - situated between Santa Elena and Monteverde we were only minutes away from the Santa Elena reserve and the coffee farm we visited. We were met very promptly when we arrived and taken to the house. There is a phone which made it easy if we needed to contact the owner. We also used it for local calls to book our trips. We would stay there again and highly recommend it to others.
What a treat to be literally "above it all" in Monteverde. Short rocky ride up the hill was no problem. Spent lots of time on the porch enjoying the view.
I absolutely loved my stay here. This house is offset from the other houses in the area and it has a spectacular overlook down the mountain. The setting is peaceful and I loved it because it was away from the really touristy area. However, tourist attractions and the town of Santa Elena were very close by. The house is surrounded by beautiful farm land and the people I encountered were very friendly. The property was super clean and well-maintained. The owners were super nice as well. I spent a lot of time on the back deck where I could watch beautiful sunsets. I would recommend taking a tour at Finca Life Monteverde which is a sustainable coffee farm right down the road. I stayed here for a month and really got to know the area and this is by far one of the best properties I saw. I HIGHLY recommend staying here.
We stayed for 3 nights at this comfortable house perched in the lush green hills outside of Santa Elena. If you enjoy the countryside this is a magical place overlooking the valley and hills around you. Kitchen is fully stocked, bedrooms are cozy and there's plenty of blankets for the cool nights. Although a car is almost a necessity, walking to town ( about 45 minutes) is doable and we enjoyed the ups and downs (hills) as challenges. Also many beautiful trails and roads behind the property as well. The kitchen window and deck give you a view of the gorgeous nightly sunsets, and when it's rainy or cloudy, rainbows are everywhere! We heard but did not spy any monkeys, but saw many birds, (hummingbirds!)and butterflies from the deck. So much to do in this area and all of it is just minutes away, including good restaurants if you don't want to cook. But we also enjoyed the chance to relax and get a feel for what living in a place like Monteverde / Santa Elena might feel like, away from the tourist attractions. Thank you to our hosts, Zabrina and Beto, who were always available and full of help and advice.
Monteverde is well known for its biodiversity and friendliness with nature, therefore many of the activities you will enjoy are connected to nature. You can enjoy zip linning, walkways, bungee jumping, reserve tours, butterfly garden, night walks, insect museum, frog pond, serpentarium, horseback ridding, among many other attractions and adventure tours. We can always recommend and book the right tours according to your budget and likes.
