Our recently remodeled and upgraded 4th floor unit in the Hawaiian Princess at Makaha are one of the most sought after and revisited vacation destination on Oahu's west side. The west side of Oahu is known as the dryer and sunnier side of the island resulting in some of the clearest cleanest waters on the island of Oahu. These clear blue waters provide an ideal backdrop for photography, sunbathing, beachcombing, snorkeling, diving, bodyboarding, surfing, kayaking, boating, hiking or simply relaxing on the lanai. Makaha is located approximately 40 minutes from the airport by car and 60 minutes west from the hustle and bustle of the state capital Honolulu, famous Waikiki Beach. Most of the other major tourist attractions are an easy day trip away. Come and stay at the beach in this local rural community of Makaha. Enjoy the "local" environment, blend in with local residents, and experience some of the most beautiful, uncrowded sandy beaches on the island of Oahu. You can easily visit the famous Makaha International Surfing Beach in the next cove, North Shore's surfing spots, Pearl Harbor, or shopping, dining, and enjoying activities of Waikiki and Honolulu easily from this location. You can then return home to Makaha, enjoy the beach, swim in the pool, relax on your lanai, and unwind watching the sunset as the fabulous day closes and you recharge for another great day in paradise.
The Hawaiian Princess is one of only a few condos that are built right on the beach with the Pacific Ocean at your door step. Few areas in Hawaii can boast of such an secluded, white sand, crescent shaped beach with waters flat at times for snorkeling and surf at other times for "riding the waves". This beach is often referred to as "Oahu's Best Kept Secret" . Very few travelers even know of this beach and it is not seen from the street. Our units faces the ocean with 180 degree view of this white sandy beach, clear blue ocean and the historic Lahilahi Point. The fabulous views, spectacular sunsets, sounds of the waves and the close proximity to the beach makes this a perfect place to enjoy Hawaii's casual life style. Enjoy paradise, relax with the tropical trade winds, and play all day at the beach. Marine life is abundant in this cove known as "turtle cove". Daily sightings of turtles, dolphins, whales (in season), monk seals, schools of fish, and more can be seen from your private lanai. You might even see the turtles on the beach being warmed by the sun.
This recently upgraded 1 bedroom /1 bathroom units can accommodate up to 4 persons and can be adjoined with our other unit resulting in 2 bedroom 2 bath unit. This combination of both units has been very popular with couples traveling together or larger families requiring the extra space. The unit has everything that you will need with fully equipped kitchen, linens, and beach gear. We have tried to think of everything for your comfort. We have free internet in the unit, smart TV in living rooms and bedrooms, newly created desk area to accommodate electronics and office work, large front loading washers and dryers, upgraded mattresses in each bedroom and art work of local artists throughout the units. Repeat guests are a norm at our units. Guests have been returning here year after year which confirms this is truly a "special place".
Gerry, a registered nurse, and Mike , retired engineer with Boing Corporation, purchased these two units in 2013 and immediately realized this was a very "special place". We remodeled and upgraded both units at the same time. We have just started advertising our "owner's Unit" on VRBO# 854197 as of May 2016, but have many satisfied guests staying here since 2013. See the reviews posted on our "Guest Unit" VRBO # 507795. We have guests who repeatedly book these units year after year. We visit this location 2-3 times a year with our family and friends.
Geralee (Gerry) Finney purchased this condo in 2013
The Hawaiian Princess is a very popular year round destination. All units in the Hawaiian Princess have fabulous views of the ocean, beach and sunsets. This unit is recently, remodeled, upgraded, with the attention to all the details. The unit is clean, well maintained, and our personal management of these units has added to our success. We have tried to make this your home away from home. We want to share this piece of paradise with each of you!
The Princess sits right on the beach and the 180 degree Our guest repeated comment thaviews from the lanai are breathtaking. This location is not in the 'touristy areas' , yet Honolulu, Waikiki, and other attractions are and easy day trip. Our guests repeatedly comment how we have thought of everything to make you visit as comfortable as possible.
My wife and I wanted to stay in a cozy one bedroom, one bathroom rental unit somewhere on Oahu, far removed from the crushing traffic of downtown Honolulu and the hoards of people crowding the high priced shops, restaurants and entertainment spots along Waikiki Beach. I believe we managed find all that at the Hawaiian Princess located in leeward coast town of Waianae. Unit 402 was equipped will nearly everything necessary to prepare meals, a dishwasher, a full size washer and drier, and two large screen HD televisions. The unit had ample lighting which units of similar size often lack. The unit was also stocked with a beach umbrella, beach chairs and mats, boogie boards, and so forth, all items that helped to create a relaxing and fun day on the beach, a clean beach which was literally just below our 4th floor lanai and stretched more than a mile in length. The rolling surf never seem to pose much of a challenge for bathers young and old; although swimmers need to be aware of the clusters of jagged corral just off shore. I came across one of them and cut my foot--nothing serious though. I suspect snorkelers will find a fair amount of fish swimming among the small trees of corral. We managed to catch brief glimpses of green sea turtles and even a 6 to 7 foot long black seal meandering along the shore looking for a secluded spot to sun itself on the beach. There was also a swimming pool at our disposal, but we never found time to enjoy it.
The Hawaiian Princess staff was first class. Tony met us upon our arrival and provided us with all that was necessary information to make our stay a pleasant one. We were a bit caught off guard at first by the degree of security on the premises, such as the tall fence enclosed parking lot. However, the feeling of isolation from the surrounding neighborhood quickly wore off. We were particularly pleased with the staff in Princess' time share office, specially Kim Antonio, who provided us with special assistance in our time of need.
We would recommend the Hawaiian Princess and unit 402 for your next vacation get away. Keep in mind you'll be located relatively far from the kind of restaurants, shopping and amusement that most vacationers come to Hawaii to enjoy. However, the raw beauty of the leeward coast mountains and spectacular coastline will be well worth being isolated from the congestion of Waikiki. We would not hesitate to book another stay.
Nice comfortable new remodeled unit. Almost a private beach!!! No good restaurants nearby so bring your food. Awe some stay
We celebrated our 40th anniversary at this condo and enjoyed every minute of it. It was as advertised, was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed for our 9 day stay. The view and beach are incredible and even though we spent a considerable amount of time exploring the island, we loved coming back to our "home" for the week. Gerry was a delight to work with, was very responsive and informative. We even met the cleaning person Valerie on arrival and she was very helpful in getting us checked in. Thanks to all for a great week. If we had any negatives it was that there was maintenance construction on the building going on during the day that was noisy, but it ended at 4 and since we were off exploring during the day did not bother us much. The pool was closed Monday through Friday until 4 PM, which is a temporary situation. Also, we had to drive 20 minutes to Ko'Olina to find any upscale restaurants and shopping, which was no big deal. We enjoyed Longboards at the Marriott, the Monkey Pod, and lunch and breakfast at Disney's Aulani. There are however all your typical fast foods only 5 minutes away including a Starbucks. The local markets have deli's that have decent and interesting foods if you are the adventurous type. If you are looking for a posh resort area with lush landscaping this isn't it, but if you want an amazing beach, amazing view, friendly people, and a clean comfortable quiet place to base your island experience then you've found it right here.
After a small issue, which Gerry quickly resolved, our vacation turned out to be one of our most memorable in a while. The condo had all the comforts of home and Gerry certainly made sure that her guests had everything they needed for any adventure they decide to embark on. The home is beautiful and modern. Thank you for opening your home to us!
A beautiful condo with a view of paradise! Gerry is great to work with and was always there when we had a question.
We think the west side of the island has the best weather on the island with lots of sunshine. Of course, we do visit the windward side to see the lush landscapes, experience the warm tropical rain, and frequent the many beautiful beaches, but it is always rewarding to return to the west side at the end of the day ! We love to take visitor to Waikiki for the day, but again enjoy returning to Makaha's finest beaches and clear waters.
