I moved to Ithaca 14 years ago and love it. There's so much to do nearby, and yet it's a very peaceful place. I graduated from Cornell in the 1980s and always wanted to move back here. I'm a senior lecturer at Cornell.
Amy Newman purchased this house in 2002
I fell in love with the house when I bought it. It's a solid, mission house but feels modern, especially with the backroom addition that faces the view. You can see the lake or Cornell from almost every room in the house.
What a lovely, warm and welcoming home. The view from the deck is wonderful. The hosts were very helpful and flexible on check in and out times. Ithaca is a very interesting city with alot going on. We loved staying there for our daughter's wedding weekend.
Everything was super smooth, the place was nice, cozy and spacious.
6 of us stayed here, and we actually got married on the lovely porch as well (very small wedding with 8 attendees, including the two of us). I cannot say enough great things about this place - perfect size for a family gathering, as there was enough space for us to not be on top of each other but also great spaces like the living rooms/dining room to gather. Great kitchen for orchestrating family meals as well. Perfect distance from Ithaca (easy trip to Wegmans and anywhere else you'd want to go) as long as you have a car. Driveway fit 5 cars during the ceremony with no trouble. Everything was spotless and clean when we arrived, and the hosts were very helpful and communicative via text. I would 100% recommend this house to anyone wanting to visit Ithaca in comfort.
We rented this house with another family so our teens could tour Cornell. The back of the home has a beautiful deck and yard with views of Cornell and Lake Cayuga. Every convenience was provided for a comfortable home stay. Easy drive to the state parks and store for groceries. Plenty of room for our two families.
Three generations of our family gathered here recently for my daughter’s destination Farmers Market wedding. We’ve been visiting Ithaca for 35 years and this property is an ideal location, close to town yet convenient for visiting gorges and wineries. The house has been lovingly decorated and the owner’s pride in the property is obvious in the attention to details. Its spacious first-floor layout provides many options for gathering and relaxing and a large, well-equipped kitchen. From the deck, there’s a stunning view of Lake Cayuga, perfect for morning coffee or an evening nightcap. Our wedding photographer squealed with delight when she spied the grapevine-covered arbor over the deck. The result? The perfect prop from which to hang the wedding dress for the perfect, blowing-in-the-breeze pic! We booked the house a year in advance and Amy was warm and responsive throughout our interactions, quickly addressing all questions and concerns. From location to amenities to responsive owner, this property served as a fantastic home base for our destination wedding. Oh, and yes --both the bride and her 88-year-old grandmother totally rocked the drum set!
This house was perfect for our two-family college visit to Ithaca. The house is very comfortable, has everything you need an amazing view of Lake Cayuga! The owner was very helpful during our stay. The house was excellent in almost every way. (The only thing missing was a pitcher.). The sauna and drum set were a nice bonus. We had a wonderful time!
