About Brian Fletcher

Robert hails from the hill country of TX ... New Braunfels, TX to be exact whereas Brian was born and raised in Palos Heights, IL, south of Chicago. We have been together for 16 years, married and have three children ages 6.7 and 10 (the picture here is a bit old :)). The children keep us VERY busy with school, activities and the general drama that three little ones create everyday. However, we wouldn't change a thing; its perfect level of crazy. We currently live in Oak Park, IL with our two dogs, Stella and Sam, cat Tucker and one fish, Charlie.

Brian Fletcher purchased this cabin in 2013

Why Brian Fletcher chose Michigan

We have traveled to Saugatuck every year both before and after having children. It was the perfect getaway for a relaxing week and, now with three kids, has so much to do for families. Our children love the beach, dune ride, duck boat and the numerous ice cream shops. In the winter, sledding on the dunes is a huge hit as well as the nearby ski resorts (not huge but great for a day trip). We began coming up more often every year as there was activities in all four seasons. We always rented homes so the kids could run around and we could make some meals at home. But renting every time we came up was getting expensive and since the town has become a home away from home it made sense to buy a place here.

What makes this cabin unique

As soon as we walked into this home, we knew it was perfect for us. It has the perfect vacation home look and feel making it seem we are far further from Chicago than the 2 hours it takes us to get there. We loved the group of homes so they kids can walk/explore and we don't have to worry about cars. The Association pool is perfect for cooler/windy days at the beach or a swim after the beach. Jumping off the pier and swimming/playing on rafts in the lake is also great. We also loved the ability to ride bikes, off road, into town. Unique to the property versus all the other homes in the association is the large front yard and private back yard.

Wonderful Family Weekend

  • 5 of 5

We booked last minute and spent a few days for an adult family vacation. Brian was very responsive and so easy to work with. He provided a comprehensive package about the home and things to do in the local area. The beautiful cabin represents a great blend of luxury touches and rustic decor that appealed to everyone young and old. We were all very comfortable there. The location is central to many local attractions - only a few minutes away from all of the things we wanted to do. We would definitely book this cabin again - but next time - will need to extend our stay a few days to get to all the KingFisher Cove community and Saugatuck area has to offer !

Spacious cabin close to beach

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic time here. This was our third stay in Saugatuck and was the best in terms of location to the beach, and to nearby towns. There were four adults and two young children. Adequate space for everyone, clean kitchens and bathrooms, very charming decor. Bring your own baby safety gate for the stairs, but high chair provided! We loved the pool as well. Thank you!

Relaxing place to stay

  • 4 of 5

We had a great time at the cabin - a quiet place to hang out during an otherwise busy labor day weekend! It's a beautiful, well equipped cabin, located close enough to Saugatuck and Douglas to be able to do a quick drive over to Oval Beach for a beach afternoon or either town for shopping, yet far enough that you feel a bit secluded. We enjoyed the lake that is accessible from the property - we brought a kayak and were able to paddle and with Lake Michigan too cold to swim, enjoyed jumping off the dock and swimming! We're looking forward to our next visit!

Great location, comfortable & well-appointed house!

  • 5 of 5

From the time we arrived (and even before!) we felt extremely comfortable in Brian and Robert's vacation home. Before the trip Brian sent a complete set of instructions including recommendations for things to see and do locally.

It was a hot and sultry day when we arrived so I was quite thankful for the central air-conditioning. As the weather improved we threw open the windows and turned on the overhead fans. Although the house is near a major thoroughfare we didn't notice any traffic noise so it was nice to breath in the fresh lake air.

We used the kitchen quite a bit. I was very pleased that it was well stocked with pots, pans, and even a few things that you typically don't find in a vacation home: a garlic press, and most importantly, sharp knives.

The rooms are spacious, well ventilated, and nicely decorated. The living room was very comfortable for the 5 of us and as an added guilty pleasure we were able to sign into our Netflix account on their TV to watch our favorite shows or catch up on our queue.

Finally, I really like the Saugatuck-Douglas area. For years we'd stayed in South Haven but as our children grew up we found we were spending more time in Saugatuck because the restaurants are better and there are more shops for adults. It's also closer to Holland where there's lots of shops and good craft beer.

It was a great trip made ever better because we were able to stay in a comfortable, well-appointed home.

Thanks Brian and Robert!

Beautiful Cabin, Wonderful Owners!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at King Fisher Cove for one week in August, It was a family vacation with Grandparents, adult children and grandchildren. My contact with Brian was excellent right from the start, he could not have been more cordial. The cabin was everything it was pictured to be and so much more. We felt right at home. We all spent many hours at the pool which was warm and inviting. We walked to the ice cream store almost every night. We did go to Oval Beach one day but found the water to be much to cold for the kids, thank goodness for the pool. We ate dinner at home a few nights and out in the town of Saugatuck. We liked the Butler and Phil's Bar and Grill. I think what best describes our stay there was on the last day I told all the grandchildren to get up and get dressed , strip the sheets off the bed and get ready to go. Well I found my 3 year old grandson huddled in the bunk bed under his cover with tears in his eyes. He told me that he was just going to stay there because he didn't want to leave. I guess that says it all !!!!!

Perfect getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing week at your cabin! The property was very clean when we arrived and exactly as it appeared on the website pictures. All the information you provided ahead of time made planning our week of activities easy and seamless. The town of Saugatuck is adorable - we enjoyed walking and shopping the main drag and all the restaurants were great. Loved that we were a short drive to South Haven and Holland. Our favorite activity was the Dune Rides and loved how close it was! I would highly recommend this rental to family and friends - the house was the perfect size for 6 of us (even had room for more especially with the 2 sets of bunk beds!). Thanks for an amazing trip!
