This fully renovated vacation house is located in Palm Springs' famous Racquet Club Estates neighborhood, home to the legendary Racquet Club Resort where the Hollywood elite and movie stars escaped for a weekend retreat of relaxation in the desert.

The home features highly sought-after desert mid-century modern architecture, including a spacious open floor plan, dramatic vaulted high ceilings unique to the iconic “butterfly” roofline design, exposed tongue-and-groove ceiling beams, and floor-to-ceiling “walls of glass” that stream an abundance of sunlight throughout the indoor living areas. Each room throughout the house has been renovated to showcase the home’s stunning features. Highlights include a fully renovated open-air kitchen, that features stainless steel appliances, pro-grade gas cooktop, Keurig Platinum café brewer, and auto-closing drawers well-stocked with all the essential cooking gadgets.

The main living, dining and kitchen areas provide unobstructed views of the mountains and expansive private garden and pool through the “zero-clearance” floor-to-ceiling windows, which blur the distinction between the indoors and outdoors.

As mid-century modern enthusiasts, we jumped at the opportunity to purchase this iconic “Butterfly” Alexander-built mid-century modern house. This is our second house in the desert, and we’re thrilled to share it with our guests. We spent over 8 months fully renovating this amazing house and property to its original splendor. With the exception of the frame and exterior stucco siding, the house is essentially all new.

What makes this house unique

This home is a highly sought-after authentic Alexander-built 'butterfly' roofline house. The main living areas and private back yard boast breathtaking views of the San Jacinto Mountain range. Just a short walk away is the steps away is the beautifully landscaped Victoria Park.

This was our third time staying at this house. That tells you all you need to know. Chef's kitchen; clearly Michael and Scott are cooks themselves. Everything you need to cook a great meal is here. Michael is an awesome host. Any question, concern or need will be immediately addressed. Great quiet location; love the pool, spa and mountain views. Super comfy bed, plush towels, great double vanity in the master. Super clean, with easy check-in and out. Beautifully appointed interior with fireplace and a great mid century vibe. Wonderful as always

We stayed for 10 nights oct 2016. It is our third year in a row which hopefully says it all. The villa is presented immaculately and all the amenities are as advertised. Scott and Michael are perfect hosts and always manage to make our stay memorable and perfect. Book this villa, you won't be disappointed and I'm not scared to lose our slot next year as its already in Scott and michael's diary. You won't find a more clean, high quality, and thoughtful midcentury home than this one. I shouldn't tell you about it so that I save it for myself... But Michael and Scott are due praise for their work. You'll want for nothing here! From the outside kitchen, pool toys, fully stocked kitchen, incredibly comfortable bed, I could keep going... Have fun!

Our trip was amazing and this house had it all and made it a wonderful vacation

Before we even arrived at the house we were being taken care of. Michael sent all kinds of ideas of things to do during our stay. The home itself was awesome and completely stocked with everything from a baby chair, to floats and toys for the pool. The home was clean and very well organized. Every time I realized that we had left something at home, we found it in the home available for our use.

The back yard and pool were perfect. A private back yard and very quiet neighborhood made this home so relaxing. Plus it's just minutes from downtown with plenty of shopping and dining.

Ideal Palm Springs Lodging

My husband and I stayed in this Racquet Club Estates MCM house for a week in January 2016 and found it to be the ideal lodging for Palm Springs. Over the past 20 years we have stayed in various nice boutique hotels in PS, but this house offers far more- both inside and outside. The house is located at the end of a cul-de-sac so is very quiet. RCE is north of downtown so it is beyond easy walking distance of PS restaurants--but they are an easy drive away- and we highly valued the seclusion of the area.

We appreciated the architectural books (available in the living room) that provided a historical perspective on the neighborhood and on the house design; we like the butterfly best. The layout of the house is excellent with the living room and kitchen looking out onto the backyard. The kitchen is compact yet has everything you would need- and it is organized completely. You may initially wonder where something is, but you can be sure it will be close at hand- and be well labelled. The pleasant living room has a fireplace and TV and the tall windows give a view of the yard and the mountain tops in the distance. The master bedroom with gas fireplace was spacious yet cozy for cool January evenings. The adjoining bathroom, with large shower (but no bathtub), is well equipped. We did not make use of the other two bedrooms but even for two people they added to the sense of spaciousness of the house. There is good wifi throughout the house. In summary, then, the house has virtually everything you would want for either a short or a long stay.

The backyard has various seating areas, the main one being a covered cabana area with much comfortable seating and a gas grill. There is also good seating around the pool, and off to the side is an attractive fire pit area. When we did not find the key to the fire pit, mentioning it to Michael resulted in a key being left off later that day. We did not use the pool or spa but they were pleasant focal points for the yard, as were the palm trees-- and the mountains to the north.

So in terms of both location and the house itself (inside and outside), it has everything you would want in a Palm Springs lodging. Add to that the reasonable rental price and that Michael and Scott are thoughtful and considerate hosts, this is a perfect rental. We were so impressed with everything about the house and the experience, that we booked a month-long stay next year.

We had a marvelous holiday in this wonderful dream house beyond our wildest expectations!

Me and my wife and children had the pleasure of spending our holiday in this rental from Jun 19th - Jul 13th.

Finding and accessing the house was very easy thanks to the instructions given to us in the hospitality Site/App (customized for our stay) and also by e-mail. Check-in time was 15:00 (3:00 p.m.) local time. The housekeeper (Karen) had really done a great job cleaning the house and outdoor patios and kitchenette/cabana to get it ready for our stay. She also provided freshly laundered bath towels, as well as replenished the courtesy supplies of detergent, paper towels, bath tissue, etc. Our great hosts Michael and Scott had left us some welcoming presents to start our vacation of in a good way.

After we got settled in at the house,we took a moment to review the guest rental guide that Michael and Scott had created to ensure that we had a fabulous stay. This booklet included instructions for all of the amenities at house, such as how to turn on the outdoor spa, use the central A/C, indoor gas fireplaces, outdoor glass rock fire pit, BBQ grill, as well as some helpful tips for some custom features. Pool cleaning was done twice per week, and yard maintenance once per week. Michael and Scott truly take enormous pride in the upkeep of their vacation home and giving their guests a enjoyable stay.

The house was located in a nice and quiet neighbourhood without any kind of traffic.

Palm Springs provided us with beautiful, sunny skies. In fact, tit was much warmer than normal, reaching up to 50C on our first Monday after arriving! Frequent use of the delightful swimming pool was in order. Thru the rest of our stay the weather was sunny and warm, ranging from 25C lows, and 45C daytime highs.

The area had lots of restaurants and diners that we frequently visited. Our favorite restaurant was Cheesecake Factory (you can get good service with a good meal and a incredible salty caramel cheesecake).

Activities we would highly recommend is going on the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway (great scenery and hiking trails), Palm Springs Air Museum is a must.

If you want to do some shopping visit Desert Hills Premium Outlets and Ross dress for less.

Finally,me and my family had the best holiday ever in this wonderful house. Our hosts hospitality has been way beyond our expectations and we are truly grateful to have had the pleasure of being their guests.Hopefully we will return to this house for holiday another time.
