About Charlie & Brystal Pinnon
Born and raised right here in Southern Il, I have one other Rental Cabin, and work as a operating engineer, also we have a small herd of cows that we enjoy taking care of. My wife is a full time mother and a beautician, also she takes care of making our cabins look brand new after each visitor. Together we have two wonderful children, one 6 one is 9.
Charlie & Brystal Pinnon purchased this Cabin in 2013
Why Charlie & Brystal Pinnon chose Buncombe
This property has been in our family for close to 40 years. My father bought the land from my mothers uncle in the mid 70s and has farmed it and ran cattle on it every since. Now Dad is retired, and only has a few cows to keep him company, he also owns and operates Pinnon Lake Cabins that are located on the other end of the place.
Pool / Spa
My wife and I along with another couple stayed in "Calie's Cabin," one of two comprising Cedar Sunset Cabins in the countryside outside Buncombe, Illinois. I have never slept better than in the comfortable bed in the cabin. I was impressed by the large size of the kitchen/dining area/living room, featuring two full sofas. The hot tubs are an amenity we all enjoyed. There is a TV with a satellite provider, thereby giving us a choice of a gazillion channels. The TV is in the living room, none in either bedroom. There are many modern amenities, so do not fear that you'll be in an overly rustic cabin. That said, it's only fair to point out a few things of which to be aware: There are two bedrooms and two bathrooms. One is like a master bedroom with adjacent bathroom. However, if (like me) you're staying in the smaller bedroom, know that your bathroom is across the hall . . . so when staying with another couple, you'll want a robe or some form of cover-up for those trips to shower and back, etc. Also, the kitchen is stocked with most but not all of what you might need, and for our stay, there was an inadequate supply of drinking glasses. Plenty of wine glasses, though, and therein lies one of the great advantages of Cedar Sunset: The close proximity to the Shawnee Wine Trail, a Southern Illinois treasure. The location is also not far off of Interstate 57, so there is a minimum of back roads to drive to your cabin. The owners, Charlie and Bristol, live close by and are very accommodating (e.g. we needed shower soaps and Birstol soon brought over two handmade soaps). We would definitely return in the future.
We came here for our honeymoon and we couldn’t have had a greater time! I wish we stayed longer! Right on the wine trails. It felt like home away from home. Everything was very clean and the owners answer any questions you have. It was so peaceful, beautiful and relaxing. We will definitely be coming back!
Perfect place to relax!
We went for a quick two day getaway and this place was exactly what we needed. I read the reviews so knew to bring food with us and the grill is awesome! I caught a nice bass in my first couple of cast and threw it back it was awesome! The couch was comfortable so was the bed but the star of the show was the hot tub!! We didn’t want to get out of it. Yeah perfect getaway and will possibly come back it was further from Peoria than we expected which was obviously our fault. People that own it are very nice
Everything was pretty wonderful- Hot tub, pond, lake next property over (owners family owns it too & my sisters stayed there), grill, bathrooms were great too. Really close to Canopy Tree Top Zip Line (amazing), White Crane Kyak & Canoe wetland tour (awesome) and Blue Sky Winery (a must do) Note: If I could have slept better- I would rate this beautiful cabin as a 100%.... But, the bed made a plastic crinkle type sound when I moved- which woke my light sleeper hubby up. Only other small want: closet/clothes hanging bar/or hooks on some walls for items we don't want to wrinkle in a drawer.
Great little cabin and peaceful environment
Had a great time at this little cabin in Southern Illinois. We’ll be back
The cabin was very nice. The other houses and cabins were far enough away to feel secluded. The grill was great and the cabin was very clean!
Cedar Sunset Cabins are located at head of Shawnee Hills Wine Trail, and just around the corner from Shawnee Tours Zip Line.
