Kona Coast House Rental Photos and Description

One Bedroom with King Sleep Number Suites On An Acre Of Tropical Landscape

South Kona Hideaway is a licensed Bed and Breakfast perched 800 feet above some of the best snorkeling Hawaii has to offer. We are situated between Honaunau (Place of Refuge) and Kealakekua Bay, home of a pod of spinner dolphins. Your beautifully decorated suite has a living room with a queen sofa bed, large flat screen television with cable, HBO, and Showtime. Your living room opens onto a large lanai, where you can relax, light your tiki torches, and have a cocktail before grilling some fresh fish you bought a mile up the street. Your spacious kitchen has a sink, microwave, toaster, full-sized refrigerator/freezer, and dining table. There is a small camp oven and stove on your front porch. The bedroom has a king sized Sleep Number bed for your comfort, and private bath with shower.

We are easy to find, located approximately 45 minutes South of the airport, 30 minutes South of Kailua-Kona (town), and 20 minutes South of Keauhou. The volcano is approximately an hour and a half Southeast on the main highway. Your suite has dedicated parking, and a private entrance.

We are a small B&B, with only two suites, and we live on site. Don't know what to see? We can give you some recommendations.

Aloha and luxury await you! Welcome home to South Kona Hideaway!

About Tina Snapp and Keri Jones

After many trips to Hawaii, we finally bought a home and relocated here in 2012 from Colorado. Tina is a retired nurse and Keri is a veterinarian. We have travelled the world in search of the best snorkeling, and this rivals the best. We are willing and happy to help with recommendations, but will otherwise be out of your way.

Tina Snapp and Keri Jones purchased this house in 2012

Why Tina Snapp and Keri Jones chose Kona Coast

South Kona Hideaway is one of the most relaxing places we've ever stayed. The property is beautiful, the sunsets incredible, and you're only 10 minutes from beautiful live coral and brightly colored fish. Your own lanai and a cocktail... What more could you want?

What makes this house unique

Your continental breakfast of fresh fruits and home made baked goods will be delivered to your unit the night before and ready when you are. You can get up early or sleep in. You will not have to worry about somewhere to park, or being able to find your way back at night on a one lane jungle road. We are only half a mile off the main highway, on a 'full sized' paved road. Snorkel equipment, beach chairs, and boogie boards are available to borrow during your stay.

Outstanding property!

  • 5 of 5

Our 4 night stay with Tina and Carrie was exquisite. Everything was perfect from the first communication to sending us off with avocados from the property. They are gracious hosts and even accepted our early birthday supply shipments to their address.

The breakfast plates were the icing on a perfect cake! The muffins are king size and the local fruit are true delicacies. The ocean view from the deck complete with indescribable sunsets is the perfect ending to a relaxing Hawaiian style day.

We also loved the king size ultra comfortable bed. My sister stayed in the smaller upstairs unit and both units are very suitable for 2 people with the "lanai" suitable for more. The location is perfect for easy access to the local market, beach combing/swimming and eating in small local restaurants. We loved grilling while waiting for sunsets. All in all a perfect beginning to an Hawaiian vacation.

Spacious, clean, and casual apartment in a good location.

  • 5 of 5

I spent two nights in Tina and Keri's apartment and found it to be a good base for exploring the island south of Kona. The apartment itself was spacious, clean and quiet, with a very cozy and comfortable bedroom. There were plenty of supplies to borrow for a day at the beach. The apartment was larger than expected, and the view from the deck was even nicer than the VRBO description. As stated by other travelers, the house baked muffins are fantastic!

The. Perfect place. Five stars plus!

  • 5 of 5

Tina and Keri are delightful hosts! They provide a wonderful breakfast of freshly made muffins and fruits, with ample extras available. Their location is beautiful, with views over their property and the Pacific. They are also knowledgeable about the area and most helpful in providing tips and ideas for aging and activities! The downstairs has full barbecue facilities on a lovely patio. The upstairs has a most comfortable king size bed with sliding glass door view out over the property and Pacific ocean. I stayed there twice, once upstairs and went downstairs. Both were delightful with different amenities. The upstairs has a better view of the Pacific with a smaller balcony and no barbecue facilities. The downstairs has the larger back porch area but the main bed is lacking a view. The hide a bed in the lower unit is most comfortable! Best of all, Tina and Keriare warm and wonderful hosts. Keri is a veterinarian and Tina is a former hospital administrator.

Exceptional hospitality off the beaten track

  • 4 of 5

Steps lead down to the Lanai Suite which has an interesting layout with sitting room, kitchen, bedroom & private bath each at a different level. The conscientious owners provide nightlights that illuminate the varying levels & steps. Very clean and well lit. A large lanai & lounge chairs overlook the ocean 1500 feet below. My fondest memory is Tina's warm welcome and the homemade muffins and tropical fruit from the property provided for each mornings breakfast. And the giant avocados that were offered for our use. A sample of their homegrown coffee was excellent so we bought some to take home. Plus we were gifted with a supply of recently harvested mini-bananas on departure. The bedroom is very cozy...no room for open suitcases, so we used some of the chairs in the adjacent kitchen. The sleep number bed was very comfortable. The Choice Market about 10 minutes away has everything you need to create dinner. Cooking on the outdoor grill or a gas campstove in the outdoor kitchen worked OK for us. There are not many evening dining spots in S. Kona....so plan on eating before 8pm or cooking in. Recommended for folks who can negotiate steps easily. Kerri is a veterinarian and there are two friendly dogs who live on the property and some outdoor cats.

Lots of Aloha

  • 4 of 5

Off the beaten path, our lanai deck over looked the colorful garden with palms, papaya, cacao, coffee and avocado trees.

Cooking is outside but small kitchenette with refrigerator was adequate for our needs. While rooms were a bit musty at first fans gave

lots of air circulation very quickly. Could enjoy sunsets from the deck. Proprietors were so accommodating, helpful and cheerful.

Must like friendly dogs. Snorkel and beach items are provided, lending library for a novel and delightful breakfast plate of fresh local fruits

and often a baked treat were delivered each nite for the next morning. Owners gave good local recommendations for eating out and the best snorkel spots close-by. Two step is a must see! Coqui frogs provide the night-time chorus.

Quirky, Clean, Fun and Delicious

  • 5 of 5

If you like staying away from the beaten track, like eclectic furnishings, lots of conveniences with a modest touch and amazing fresh fruit, mostly from the property and huge tasty muffins for breakfast, you won't be disappointed with this stay. The owners are accessible, friendly while respecting your privacy and they are extremely helpful with suggestions and tips. An added bonus is the ability to borrow snorkeling gear and towels. We enjoyed the casual homeyness and the ease of getting around without tourist crowds.
