Hello! My name is Kristine Brown. I live in Manhattan Beach, CA but my favorite get away is Aspen, CO. I am a mother of 2 little girls and love to ski. I have a passion for decorating and combined it with a business called Big Daddy's Antiques. My Husband and I sell to Ralph Lauren, J Crew, Levi, and countless clothing stores. We were on 'Housewives of Beverly Hills' last season as the store that Lisa bought all of her furnishings from for her new bar, 'Sur'.
Kristine Brown purchased this condo in 1993
I can honestly say, that you cannot beat this location. For what you get with this rental: an almost unheard of large space, all the amenities of home and your private roof top deck that overlooks the mountain, it hard to find anything that you can compare with it. I chose this property because I feel lucky every time I walk through the door. This place makes you feel special and if it doesn't, you grew up a lot luckier than I was.
There is great dining and entertainment just step outside the front door. I particularly enjoy Jimmy’s an American Restaurant & Bar, Cache Cache, Campo de Fiori for Italian, Pinons for fine dining, Krabloonik for game, and the Pine Creek Cookhouse is perfect for a sleigh ride or cross country skiing through the snow covered forest. The Penthouse is located in downtown Aspen within walking distance to 10-15 restaurants. The gondola to Aspen Mountain is 2 1/2 blocks away. Shuttle stop access to Snowmass and Aspen Highlands is around the corner by McDonald’s.
Glad I found this place great location, super cozy , would stay there again
Our family had a fantastic time in Aspen in this beautiful 2000 sq ft penthouse home. It was so well stocked with blankets, pillows, towels, glasses, etc. We felt like we were in a hotel. The decor is unique and tastefully done. We were fortunate to have a large screen tv to watch the World Series, too! Perfect location for walking around downtown to the shops and restaurants. And, you can't beat the private rooftop jacuzzi! Owner, Kristine, was terrific to work with - she was flexible on our departure time and very timely in her communication. We will definitely make this our annual destination. Enjoy!
Property could not have been in a better location. It was located in the heart of the town and walking distance to everything. The penthouse was beautiful and the property Manager extremely nice and helpful. I highly recommend this rental.
Loved this unit! It was beautifully decorated, comfortable and centrally located in town, walking distance to everything. Kristine and her associate Mia were very available and helpful, with phone calls and texts returned promptly. Mia even kindly made a "house call" to connect my IPod to the stereo system when I couldn't figure it out! We really enjoyed our stay and will be back soon, to stay again at the Wheeler Block Penthouse.
The description here of "Penthouse" is accurate! This place is a single unit above a shop right in the middle of downtown. It was a great location, seriously could imagine the love for this place in high season. By far the best part about this place was the hot tub on the roof - very private and great views. We brought our dog and there are three parks within two blocks that made things easy enough for us. I had no worries about the dog staying in what looked like a designer showroom which says a lot about the quality of the place. Thank you!
There were a couple cons however: 1) Communication was a bit hit or miss - I think the owner might be new to the VRBO scene because Kristine was fantastic about directions, but the checkin/checkout process was sparse. We didn't have wifi for the first day and I hope we weren't supposed to take the trash out because I didn't see any instructions. It was a bit confusing as to where we could legally park in the middle of downtown as every street says you will be towed from 3-7am. FYI, there is a parking garage at $15/day. Kristine was nice and learned from our experience so I think it will improve at this property. 2) Don't stay here if you aren't a morning person. The trash truck comes right down the alley at 8:30am EVERY day. I thought maybe just Monday but no, every single day it sat outside our window. Very noisy and even as a heavy sleeper I couldn't sleep through it.
Another note is that October is the "off season" in Aspen and it's not a knock against the property at all as I realize we got an amazing rate because of it. Simply an FYI for others staying in the area that off season means all of the good restaurants are closed!! I'm a big Yelper and Kristine had some recommendations too and we didn't get a chance to try them - bummer. Overall the stay was pleasant and the weather was pretty good for us to enjoy some hiking. Thanks Kristine for sharing your space with us!
