13th century lovely studio apartment nicely restored in the town centre, 2 min by walk to the main street from which you can easily walk up to the Cathedral in Piazza Grande or you can dip down across the several narrows streets enjoying the beautiful palaces, churches and typical shops. This apartment was born like a painting studio for my father who had loved Montepulciano, for all his life, more than everything else for the breathtaking views of the countryside, the quietness and obviously the good vine. Cunningly reorganized by my mom, the apartment retains the original features such as wooden beamed ceiling and open fireplace. If you are looking for peacefulness, relax and something pure, you should come and try this lovely accommodation! The best is for people who love the artworks and who like to find out and enjoy every secret corner of this beautiful town as well as taste the special feeling of the ancient world.

I'm still a young lady who loves Montepulciano and the Tuscany countryside! Born in the close town of Città della Pieve, I spent my childhood in this area. The life brought me far away for several years but later I came back with my husband who loved Montepulciano, for all his life, more than everything else not only for the breathtaking views of the countryside but also for the quietness and obviously the good vine. He was a doctor with the great hobby of painting and this apartment was his painting studio! This is the reason why we still call it "my atelier". With my brother-in-law, I reorganized the apartment to become a cozy and enjoyable accommodation for everybody who is looking for peacefulness and relax, tasting the special feeling of the ancient world. I love travelling around the world and meet new people. I speak Italian and French and my daughter Elisa is helping me with English and Spanish. I'm personally taking care of the apartment and I usually welcome all the renters at their arrival. If you love history, the artworks and the peacefulness, you have to come and enjoy this lovely accommodation! I'll be more than happy to provide you any information about Montepulciano and the Tuscany' countryside!

Great location, beautiful setting!
My wife and I Spent 3 days in Montepulciano and this location was just fine for us. While most of the days and nights are spent out exploring you don't need much from your room.
Montepulciano is a beautiful city with great shops, restaurants and beautiful Tuscan countryside. While 3 days here might have been a bit longer then needed (only one day) it was a nice relaxing setting and not far out of Sienna if we wanted to do a day trip up there. Wine country surrounds the city and finding a tour is easy.
The city has lots of hills to climb while walking and exploring so make sure your ready and able to handle it - but WELL worth the visit for sure!! Wine shops and cellars to explore made this an interesting and exciting visit for us.
The bed was OK - not that bad, but not great as well, and no AC in the room made us happy it wasn't the middle of summer. However, it was clean, there was easy communication with the owner, and access was simple. Parking is situated down the road or down a hill (free down the hill) which made dropping the bags off a bit of a hike but not impossible.
Perfect in the Historic Center
Steps from Piazza Grande and great restaurants. Allowed me the opportunity to get a good flavor and feel for Montepulciano. The owner was very helpful and sweet. Gratzie!
FEbulous location, comfortable apartment with everything you require for a stress free stay.
We were greeted by Valeria with a big welcome and she oriented us to our surroundings and many places to go and see in Montepulciano. Her recommendations for fine restaurants were appreciated and we did take her advice on all of them. Fantastic.
The apartment was clean, comfortable and convenient in location. We loved being at the top of Montepulciano and looking down and across at the beautiful vistas from every angle. The bathroom and kitchen area were great, with everything we needed, and the bed was comfortable. We enjoyed being able to open the windows for fresh air. Hopefully we will be able to come back some day.
Warm Artsy Retreat in Historic Tuscan Montepulciano
Our four nights stay here was unforgettable--our favorite place to "hang out" in Italy - town AND apartment! Beautiful setting as the town is high on a hill and temperatures are lower here than surrounding area. A little difficult figuring out how to enter the town and park, since the town is walled, but Elisa and her mother, Valeria help you with this.
There are plenty of things to see in this area. Spend a day just walking around the town, browsing the shops, going inside historical churches, tasting the wine at the local wine cellars, and eating at the great restaurants. Locals are friendly, and there are no panhandlers or trinket sellers in this town! Bring your comfortable walking shoes as this town is uphill, both ways! Restaurants we really liked: for the pasta--Osteria del Conte, which is near the Fortezza and also has lovely outdoor seating. For steak (it WILL be cooked RARE!), Osteria Acquacheta, but you will need reservations at least a couple days in advance, especially on the weekends. We tasted wine at Contucci Cantina (where you give yourself a quick look at their wine cellars) and De' Ricci Cantine, but there are many others.
We had a rental car & made day trips to Siena & San Gimignano, Assisi, and spent one day visiting Pienza, Montalcino (the other wine town--we had Brunello wine and bruchetta in the medieval Fortezza. Climb up to the top and walk the walls of the fortress--great photo ops!), and to San Quircio d'Orcia, then taking the "back way" back to Montepulciano. Gorgeous views, especially between Pienza and Montalcino, in the Val d' Orcia (valley) area. Beware that towns have walls, so you will need to find parking and will be walking A LOT, so be prepared for it to take more time than you think. On our way to Rome, we drove, then walked to Civita di Bagnoregio, a tiny medieval town perched on a hill in the middle of a sort of "grand canyon." Only a pedestrian bridge connects this town to the parking area outside Bagnoregio, the larger town next to it, so be prepared for parking and walking (about 30 minutes total -- only 5 minutes on the bridge--another photo op!). All these day trips were great, but should have carved out more time to explore Montepulciano.
As for the apartment, it is beautifully, yet simply decorated. Great kitchen and bathroom. Bed is a double, but comfortable. Loved opening the window and letting the breeze blow in while resting. Ah...Toscana air and sounds...a bit of heaven!
Perfect base for exploring hill towns
We really enjoyed our stay here, and Valeria was very helpful and accommodating and even provided a high chair and crib for our 13-month-old son. The location near the top of town was perfect for us and we really enjoyed being just a short walk away from amazing views of the countryside. The bed was comfortable, the kitchen was equipped for us to make a few simple meals, and a nice new laundromat was nearby. We enjoyed all of the art and character of the apartment too. Perfect and cozy!
We stayed in this comfortable apartment at the top of Montepulciano for five nights in late October. The location was perfect for getting anywhere around the town in a few minutes. The weather was beautifully warm for sightseeing and the food and wine was spectacular. The apartment felt very spacious for a studio, it was very clean and the character was just charming. It felt like a home not a hotel room.
Pearl of 14th century, Montepulciano, lies to the southeast of Siena, on the top of one of the hills that separates the Valdichiana from the Val d’Orcia that was recently recognized by UNESCO as part of the World Heritage for the breathtaking landscapes celebrated by Renaissances’ painters. Originally Etruscan, Montepulciano preserve an 8th century fortress and medieval churches and palazzos. Chiefly known for its wine, Montepulciano offers excellent restaurants, café’s, wine-bars and shops. In July and August the town becomes a stage of live festivals with the International Arts Workshop, the local 'Bruscello' and the 'Bravio delle Botti' with a spectacular barrel race. It's an ideal base for discovering the wonderful Tuscany with Pienza, Montalcino, Chiusi, Bagno Vignoni (hot springs water) all between 14/35km of scenic drives. Siena 65 km and Perugia 67 Km. Easily reachable from the major airports of Florence and Rome, is one of the most unspoiled countryside in Italy, enjoy it!
