Olmos Park Terrace House Rental Photos and Description

Behind the simple facade of this historic and urban cottage style house, lies a whole new and cozy world of contemporary ambiance and decor. Based on its colorful decor, my Family and I named it 'THE HOUSE OF COLORS'

Our house was just rehabbed and remodeled during the second half of 2013. We tore walls, added new windows, wall texture, painting and floors to create open and friendly spaces with lots of light. Then we added brand new contemporary furniture full of colors.

The house is centrally located in the prestigious Historic District of 'Olmos Park Terrace' where new young and mature urban professionals are moving to. This is an amazing location as the house is just 10-15 minutes away from San Antonio's main tourist spots. 4-5 miles to Downtown, Riverwalk (Paseo del Rio) and Convention Center, 5 Minutes to San Antonio's Zoo and SA's top 2 shopping, dining and entertainment centers which are 'North Star Mall' and 'The Quarry'. 24 minutes to Lackland Air Force Base. 18 minutes to Six Flags Fiesta Texas and 23 minutes to Sea World.

Also our Historic District neighbors the small affluent/upscale City of 'Olmos Park' which is inside San Antonio. Within walking distance there is a great neighborhood cafe, and very nice restaurants (Mexican, Italian, French, Vietnamese).

After visiting all the tourist spots in SA, our house offers a cozy patio with brand new and contemporary furniture to enjoy a nice evening with family/friends or a nice BBQ

Very few vacation rental houses are so close to everything and at the same time offering a setting of luxury and contemporary decor with new furniture.

About Ricardo Valdes (Se habla Espanol)

I am originally from Monterrey, Mexico. San Antonio has been my 2nd hometown for me and many of my family members. After working many years for consumer product corporations in Marketing Management positions, I lost my job back in 2009 due to the economy collapse. That is when I decided to move from the busy lifestyle in Los Angeles to San Antonio where most of my family members live. Having nurtured a passion for real estate during the last years of my corporate life, I decided to start a new career rehabbing and selling properties. Then I decided to rent one of my houses in VRBO/Homeaway and the rest is history. Today I own 2 rental houses in San Antonio and my family and I love sharing our houses with other people visiting San Antonio.

Ricardo Valdes (Se habla Espanol) purchased this house in 2013

Why Ricardo Valdes (Se habla Espanol) chose San Antonio

Urban life is more fun and exciting than suburban life when going on vacation or living temporarily in a city. When you live or vacation close to downtown San Antonio, you are closer to the culture, energy and personality of a city. When a saw this house for the first time, I saw a very simple cottage house facade. But after seeing its amazing location in a safe Historic District less than 4 miles from downtown and all the nice restaurants, bars and shops located in less than 2 miles, my dream was to turn this house into a cozy paradise of contemporary ambiance and decor, full of light and color.

What makes this house unique

Amazing location close to everything. Safe Historic District with a mix of Hispanic traditional families and upcoming young and mature urban professionals (Single and Married)

Great contemporary decor and ambiance.

Guestbook comments from the owner

From the moment Ricardo accepted our request to stay at his Airbnb until the time we checked out our host made us feel like family. Six adults visiting San Antonio for the first time. None of us had ever used an Airbnb, but from this one experience will most definitely use it again. The house was even better than the beautiful photo's. His flare for decor was superb. Our beds were comfortable, the temperature in the house was perfect. He has a binder full of suggestions where to eat, grocery shop, and do laundry. We used his idea's and enjoyed true San Antonio cuisine. The neighborhood is delightful, we met neighbors on both sides of the house who were ultra friendly, we felt safe and protected. The location is ideal. We needed to be at the Fort Sam Houston base for Army graduation and it was easy peasy. Getting to the River walk was a short drive. In fact, all the sights and Texas BBQ we drove to was a short trek away. The highways are simple to maneuver on. WE found the people to be extraordinarily friendly. You would be crazy not to give this home a visit. WE loved it, loved our host and loved San Antonio. If our travels take us back to this glorious city we will stay at only one place. Casa Valdes!!!!

Great home, location and homeowner.

  • 5 of 5

Our stay here was very enjoyable. The decor/design was very modern. The backyard space was great for entertaining and hanging out. We had seven people and a baby sleep and stay here. With that said the rooms are large and comfortable. The home was very close to many amenities as well as downtown. Homeowner was prompt in getting back to me. Would definitely return.

Overall pretty good stay

  • 4 of 5

The house overall was pretty nice! I was a little disappointed to see different bedding and the lack of a rug in the living room from the pictures, but the surprise extra seating in the backyard makes up for that. The house did seem to tilt to the right, which got a little annoying after a few days. 2 of the lights in the kitchen didn't work but the lighting at night in the kitchen was fine for cooking. Other issues we had were the loose tile by the kitchen table, not being able to use the back door that leads to the driveway, the slight smell of wet dog by the kitchen table, dog hair on the lampshades, and a few things incorrect in our rental agreement.

The kitchen had many cooking materials that definitely came in handy, we didn't have to buy any cooking supplies other than food of course. During the day, having the natural light throughout the entire house was beautiful and great. Overall, we loved the art work, style, and feel of the house, it was nice staying here for 4 nights. The beds were very comfortable, the bathrooms were clean, the outside seating area could use a good cleaning but was nice to sit and eat breakfast, and it's a great house in general. We most likely would rent from Ricardo again, maybe just try out a different house.

Cozy, family and dog friendly rental house with great location!

  • 5 of 5

The description of this property was a good representation of the actual home. We had 7 people, including two children, staying at the house from a Friday till Sunday. The two kids slept on the large couch in the living room. Decor was very nice, lots of lamps. Large TV that swivels so you can see it in the living room or kitchen. Great air conditioner. The yard is not entirely enclosed, but enough so that I could take my little old dog out without a leash. Nice back patio space with couch (could use a cleaning). Room for three or four cars in the carport/driveway. Very nice neighborhood, seems to be mostly families. There is an HEB grocery close by, about 5 minutes or less. Wifi worked great. Lots of outlets everywhere. The kitchen could use some more drinking glasses, but we bought a packet of Solo cups and were good to go. Some loose floor tiles in the kitchen, but really not an issue. The second bed in the "twin" room is more of a trundle bed, so not as comfortable as the other beds (all of which were very comfy otherwise). Bath/shower in the hall bathroom and a large shower in the master bedroom's bathroom. There was left over hand soap and dish washing stuff from previous guests or the owners. Great location for going to Seaworld (15 min) and the downtown area/river walk (10 min or less). Also, especially if you have kids, check out the nearby Magic Time Machine Restaurant (902 NE Loop 410

San Antonio, TX 78209) - so much fun!

We saved money staying at this house rather than getting three hotel rooms for the weekend, and it was so nice to be all together in a "home" - which this place definitely feels like. Also, saved money eating breakfast each morning at the house rather than out. I would recommend this house to friends and family - and I would definitely stay here again!

Nice, comfortable home; good for families; near major attractions

  • 4 of 5

This 3 bedroom, 2 bath home was a good house for our week-long family vacation - it was nice and clean upon arrival. We shared this rental with another family, and both of us have children. The back bedroom (master) was large enough for a pack-n-play, and one of the other bedrooms contained 2 twin beds - perfect for kids to share. The kitchen table had 6 chairs, and when we asked for an additional chair or stool to accommodate our whole group, Ricardo, was able to meet that need in a short time. He also provided a grill upon request, which was great - he was very responsible to our needs during our stay. The backyard isn't very large, but does have a nice covered porch and outdoor seating, in addition to the grassy area. There is a neighborhood park just a few blocks away, which we walked to almost every day. The kitchen was pretty typical of these kinds of rentals - sometimes we found ourselves lacking for a certain size cooking pot or utensil, but there were enough kitchen items to be able to cook basic meals all week. The house sits in a great location in San Antonio: 15-20 min. to get to the Alamo, Riverwalk, Tower of the Americas, downtown area; and less than 10 minutes to the Zoo. There is an amazing children's museum (The Doseum) that we only discovered near the end of our visit, which was about 15 min away. A grocery store, HEB, was less than 5 minutes away. There is no washer/dryer on site, but there was a laundromat nearby which we utilized and was very convenient. We enjoyed our stay and would rent from Ricardo again if we ever come back in San Antonio.
